**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Heh......

Clarkson and Nance thrived here in LA.

Play with LeBron, both are terrible.

Heh......

Or maybe they were playing on one of the worst teams in the league and now they're getting exposed with the added pressure of the playoffs. Happens all the time.

What's you definition of "thriving"?
Not saying they were terrible playing here, but they had limitations.

Anyway, they actually played ok with LeBron in the regular season
They are just playing awful in the playoffs.

Draft Huerter, Melton, or Holiday
Sign PG
Resign JR

If the young dudes follow their developmental path they should be much improved. Lonzo should see a year 2 jump like Ingram did. One of the main focuses will be remaining healthy throughout the season

That alone is a 45-50 win roster in the west without doing much. Preserves assets and money to go after Kawhi this year or in free agency if we so choose. Gives us flexibility whereas lebron somewhat handicaps this team.

Klay Thompson is resigning with the Warriors and if the Spurs offer the supermax (and all indications are that they will), Kawhi will re-sign there. The only max level free agent after those two is Jimmy Butler but he'll be 30 by then with a sketchy injury history (and he's likely to re-sign with the Wolves anyway).

Not to be pessimistic but I'm not really buying the "wait for 2019 free agency" plan. It looks very similar to the "wait for 2013, 2014 or 2015" plan where we end up high and dry b/c all the big name free agents re-sign w/ their teams.

Also, we can't just keep rolling money over year after year. We have this offseason and next offseason to make a big splash. After that Ingram is up for a potentially very large extension and that salary cap room disappears.

Regardless, I'd rather have Lebron.

Jimmy Butler at 30 is risky, but Bron at 34 with TWICE the mileage is a great plan. C'mon.

1. Lebron >>>>>> Jimmy Butler
2. Lebron has no injury history. Dude has never missed a playoff game in his career. Actually, when's the last time he missed a game due to injury period? Lebron is older but he's alot more durable that Butler.

At least they'll be around in 2024. No guarantee Lebby is here beyond 2020. For what exactly? Faux contending and higher ticket prices? Nah. Only person any of the young dudes should be moved for is Kawhi.

For what?

1. Real contending. I put our current team + PG and Lebron on par with the Warriors/Rockets
2. Young guys get playoff experience
