**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

One of Lakers keys to the game is to make 72% freethrows? How about making 100%. Or would that be a stretch???

Shooting is hella important for a guard these days. Zo is a pitcher who is elite at fielding, running bases and hitting (for a pitcher) but can’t pitch

Not a single person has said that shooting is not important.

We’re talking about basketball by the way.

Putting the ball in the basket is the single most important thing in basketball. Lonzo doesn't go that well from anywhere. He's a poor shooter from three, he's a poor free throw shooter, heck, he can't even consistently make lay-ups. It's great that he's good at alot of other things but he's awful at the most important thing in the sport.

It's like a wide receiver who's fast, can run routes well, can blocks well and get separate but can't actually catch the ball.

From a casual fan’s perspective, sure.

You’re completely missing the point if you think anything is proved by comparing Zo to a WR who can’t catch. Apples and Artichokes if we’re being honest.

You can’t win a championship without playing defense.

To do that you need guys that are good defenders.

Good Defenders get harder and harder to find.

By the way Michael Beasley came into this league touted as a scorer, unable to do much else... look at him now

Gotta disagree. Rebounding, playmaking, defense are all integral parts of the game. Zo definitely affects the outcome of the game in a positive way. If Russell Westbrook never shoots the ball he would still be incredibly effective. Same with Jason Kidd. Even though Zo himself isn’t a great scorer he improves the team by limiting the opps from scoring and by putting his teammates in good opportunities to score.

In your examples those players would be ineffective and net negatives. Zo is a net positive.

A fastball is the most important pitch in baseball. There is a reason you see such few players who’s fb is in the 80s. But those with low velocity compensate with incredible deception, command/control, and secondary offerings.

In football it would be a QB without a power arm. But manages the game to limit turnovers and moves the ball methodically. Can still be effective if they’re elite in decision making.

Once again, love Stu but he says the same god damn things every game.

*player heaves/doesnt heave one at the end of the quarter*
Stu: All that does is ruin/save his FG percentage

Following up on this.. this logic would mean ****** like lou Williams, Carmelo Anthony, dion waiters, jah okafor, jj redick, buddy hield, Jabari Parker, trae Young etc should be getting the bag and be definite starters...

He’s been doing the same job for 35+ years let him live.

BTW someone on espn radio suggested today that the Lakers might try to hire John Calapari.

I’m all in!

0-8 Knicks with second worst defense. We lose.
0-12 cavs. Worst defense. We lose and barely score 95.
0-7 bulls. 7th worst defense. We on pace to score 90.
