**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

This is sad but true. The Lakers organization prioritises hiring people from the "Lakers family" as opposed to the most competent front office personnel. If Jim buss got four years to ruin this franchise I can guarantee you Magic Johnson and Rob are going to get at least five.

After that we'll most likely hire Jesse Buss as GM and Kobe with no front office experience as team president because they're part of the "Laker family".

I'm all for loyalty and respecting family and the greats of your franchise but nepotism like this is how you become the Knicks.

Man if Kobe agreed to try and fix this **** show. :smh: People wonder why I have no hope in the organization even with LeBron. I already think he is washed but even if he wasn't washed I don't have confidence that management wouldn't piss away important pieces in the west. This team will need to be so damn good that not even these two bozo's could F it up. I don't have faith in that happening. Say we get AD and have LeBron, the bozo coach would screw everything up. I could see Lebron tuning Luke out but I don't think AD would. Ok you get rid of the coach, you have Magic trading away important pieces leaving the coach with nobody. Basically the Lakers are in the perfect storm to suck all of LeBron's years with the Lakers. As players come LeBron's declining.

if LeBron James is your second best player, you're still an incredibly good spot. I think he's declined but I definitely don't think he's washed. I think he's more injured than anything else.

I'm more concerned about the front office. We're more focused on chasing star players than we are about developing our young guys. I don't think I can do another year of "wait until next summer we're getting a star I promise"

Good spot how to win a championship? Nope don't think LeBron being the second best player is enough to win a championship in the west.

While I agree with your statement, its only valid right now.

With the amount of free agents available and three of them on GS, the tides could turn and the GS run could be over soon.

If KD and Boogie roll, we know a team of Curry, Klay and Green can be beat.

We just have to see what goes on.

He's not even good enough to be the best player on a playoff team in the west. That's quite the dropoff. And if somehow AD gets here as great as his talent is, he hasn't been able to win consistently in the west either.

You have to keep in mind GS isn't just going to let them leave and not try and retool themselves. Nobody is willing to just go back to being a less than super team.
A year ago he's the best player in the league and now he's not good enough to be the second best player on a title team.
Ok, chief
Um in the west he isn't even making the playoffs by himself, so I am not willing to make the leap that with just one other superstar they are championship bound. Also he was not the best player in the league we can go ahead and shut that **** down.
No problem, cowboy.

too many variables as of right now
have to see how the dominos fall
case in point though is bron def cannot single handedly lead anything right now esp in the west

few days ago there was a 4 way tie in the west standings lol
AD would be phenomenal but he has an injury track record and what i've seen from lakers/injuries/medical staff makes me nervous lol

They don't have many avenues outside of maybe trading Dray. This is more or less their squad for the near future

Yeah it's all on LeBron.

Let me ask you a question point blank:

Is there a singe player that we could do a one-for-one swap with LeBron for that could take this Lakers team (injuries, poor coaching, poor roster construction and all) to the playoffs?

Could Harden? KD? Giannis? Curry? I personally dont think so.

Kobe
not sure how his body holds up tho esp if he gets that same gorin injury bron did

I believe all those guys you mentioned would have a great shot. Mostly because of all the extra stuff and drama they don't bring and hooping regardless of who's on the floor. They aren't constantly trying to get their way with the roster or trade everybody.

That's ultimately where this season was lost, the team chemistry.

boogs can possibly resign with them on the low even if/especially if KD leaves lol

Why would Boogie do that? The Warriors will be way over the cap especially if they extend Klay. If KD and Boogie leave, they won't be able to re-tool their roster

If Boogie re-ups with GS for way less money than he can make elsewhere, it could be because he knows his body is on the decline and he'd rather be option #3 or 4 on a title contender than be the top dog on a 30,35-win team

So he'd turn down $25m+ per year to take the mid level exception from the Warriors for the next few years?

Can’t wait for LeGoat to get activated next season and not manage his load. His LeStats will be amazing again.

Go LAbron!! #striveforgreatness

never know bro
i don't think it happens but it might

these dudes are unpredictable

That would be an all-time bag fumble. He went from supermax eligible in Sacrememento (5 year/ ~$200m) to looking at a max contract (4 year/~140m) in New Orleans pre-injury to taking the MLE. My heart hurts for Boogie, at least he'll get a ring out of it.

yeah NOP did him kinda dirty lol tough
he def isnt the same player but he's been pretty good since coming back. next year he can only be better imo
i wouldnt mind him coming to the lakers but not for the price he may want
