**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Have low expectations in the playoffs for big men who can’t defend in space. Most just end up getting played off the floor

I got get this NBA Health and Safety protocol stuff. I thought it was 14 days and Gasol hasn't played since Feb 28.

The Hornets are playing the second night of a back to back. None of their players played over 30 minutes vs the Nuggets last night though.

Which Hornet will have a career night against us?

Why?

“Shroeder expected to get well over 20 mill a year in the offseason”

sign and trade his *** for all I care

Would you:

Harrell, Caruso, Mathews and future 1st 2027 (or something.)

for

Myles turner (great defender. Shoots 3s.)

Arguments for: (Caruso likely leaving anyways bc too expensive. Harrell opting out this summer for more month)

I personally say no bc we looked good when everyone was healthy. Too risky to make too big a changes.

Well. What was the consensus?
Too long to post, but final two paragraphs:
The Lakers may be worse at protecting the rim this season, but that hasn’t affected their defense and shouldn’t affect their title odds. This is not a fatal flaw. They have other, bigger issues, including their 3-point shooting, the offense when James rests and uncertainty regarding Davis’ health. If he isn’t available for the postseason, or close to fully healthy, the defense won’t matter, as the team won’t have a shot at the title.

Zooming out, the Lakers made a calculated gamble with their offseason swaps. The logic was sound. They needed more offensive oomph. They have it now, even if the results haven’t exactly panned out as they hoped. The concerns with the interior defense have some legitimacy to them, but they’ve been overblown, as the optics are worse than the results. If the 2020-21 Lakers fall short, it will be for a different reason.
