**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Good point.

Those picks I referred to could have been

2020: Bane or Maxey
2021: Jones or Bones Hyland

I mean, we woulda had to move a couple at some point, but that's a treasure chest of talent we assembled. Now we have 8 dead bodies and two part time elites. :(
And Russ.
Building through the draft is the way to go. The quick and easy way to win is showing to be a mixed to negative process.

Shaq is the only one saying it doesn’t matter lol
The guy who's lifelong basketball existence least needed a coach? That seems predictable. "OK guys, we've got UCLA tonight. Give the ball to Shaq and everyone else get the eff out of the way."

That team is a first round exit.

You mean play in exit.

I don't know why people keep doing this. Those guys with other guys around them look great.

The young core with Bron didn't make the playoffs...

Mind of you course those guys got better once they left...

So who says they would be the players they are if they stayed?

What’s sickening is the fact that Bane and Hyland were VERY much connected to being drafted by the lakers. Mutual interest galore including many mock drafts saying such.

TBF, the Green, #28 pick for Schroder trade was defensible even though Schroder wasn't the cleanest fit.

The move made tons of sense at the time.

It’s what they did immediately (and he himself is to blame also) after that kind of soured it. They started him when he had just almost won 6moty. Continue lebron at the 1 and bring shroeder off the bench. He was never a starter type (see his tenure outside of lakers). Then letting him walk for nothing in return compounds it further.

Nothing wrong with that trade. Hindsight is always 20/20

Schroder was coming off a 6MOY type year and Danny was awful save for a few games that season. Add to that Bron/AD were healthy and had no injury concerns in sight, so of course they weren't worried about a late round pick. You do that move to get a 3rd scorer/pg 10/10.

Both Schroder and Trez were seen as free money when they signed.

All that being said they still beat PHO and end up in the finals AD doesn't get hurt. It is what it is.

Is this the same Shaquille O’Neal who got Hill and Van Gundy fired because he didn’t think they were championship level coaches? Or who always praises Phil Jackson for what he brought to the table…

Shaq is a dude, it starts and ends with guys like him. But he’s just disagreeing for the sake of entertainment on this one 😂

It’s a lot of hindsight that’s been going on. Feel like nobody does the “we could’ve had such had such and such” as much as us lately

To think if we did everything perfect, we could right now be looking at:
- Lowry
- Hield
- Tatum
- Lebby
- AD

Clarkson, Caruso, Zubac giving strong bench energy.

If only.

😂🤣

No. NOLA would want Tatum. But either way we would have Tatum or BI in that position I guess I’d they chose Tatum.

Russ really has zero accountability for his poor performance this past season. It's quite comical at this point lol

We got nothing else to talk about right now so we’re just casually playing the “what if” game. It’s not that serious. Relax.
The Lakers have a $2.6M trade exception from the Marc Gasol salary dump. They should use the trade exception before it expires in September.

Some notable names that fit under the trade exception:

Svi Mykhailiuk - Former Laker, has strangely regressed as a shooter.
Tony Bradley - Technically a former Laker, he's a slow-footed backup center.
Trey Lyles - Klutch client, is a supposed stretch four who hasn't lived to the billing.

Sad that we have to look for former lakers and klutch clients lol.

like the list though.

What if Magic never retired back in 96' and got a chance to play with young Kobe and Shaq the following season?

Van Exel/Fisher
Jones/Kobe
Kersey/Ceballos
Magic/Horry
Shaq/Campbell

Funny thing, I wondered about that back then. Magic had rust, similar to Mike comin back in 95. But with Shaq bein added, Magic could have given 12-15 minutes a night and been a great 6th man for that squad.

Was surprised he didn't try to get an extra year or two back of his career.
