The idea of the grizz and pelicans in the wcf for the next 5 years with the Lakers players would hurt 1000x more than watching AD go down every year

Trade AD so he can help another team win a chip and the Lakers can rebuild with no picks

Some of the biggest blockbuster trades of all time happened mid-season when teams were trying to go all in on a championship run.Ok so trade AD. What does that look like?
Ok so trade AD. What does that look like? Obviously you don't wanna do it midseason since you don't have your pick and it would be pointless. So you do it in the offseason. Go head and move Bron too while you're at it. Bottom all the way out. Except you don't have your pick next year either. So now you just traded your best players for the privilege of giving another team your lottery pick.
Now it's the 24/25 season and you can finally start your rebuild. Hopefully you can land..whoever the **** the best prospect is. Meanwhile you lost your young players and probably coach because they didn't sign up for this ****. Last time around it took a good 4 years of tanking and the Lakers didn't draft anything close to an AD or LeBron. Now you're entering the 2028/2029 season. You've got a few top 5 picks, a front office still led by the super competent Jeannie buss and you're hoping to sign..whoever the top free agents are in 2028 so you can make your championship run in 2030. Solid plan
Picks from which team and what year..Surely two great players can fetch us some first round picks right? Even the Wiz got a FRP for Brick. Unless you’re saying Bron and AD aren’t even good enough to get us picks?
Picks from which team and what year..
I mean look at what you're saying. Bron/AD should be good enough to bring back top assets but let's trade them to blow it up. Trade an MVP level player in his prime for picks 4+ years from now. Or they have no value so trade them for even less value so you can start over from square one. The only realistic path is to build around AD for the next few years. Nothing else really makes sense. It's hard to believe yall forgot how miserable tanking was to be so eager to get back to that. I get the frustration but it could be a lot worseI don’t know just talking high level. Lebron is still top 10 right? Shouldn’t there be a line of teams ready to send us assets for him?
AD was playing at a MVP level 3 weeks ago? He can’t get us assets?
Either these two players aren’t what we think they are or they’re damaged commodities (age, injury, drama) if they can’t get us back those assets
And if that’s the case, why should we be stuck with these damaged goods that the market says have no value? Just a ***ty situation all around. Nice job Rob, Jeanie and Rambii

This org is not patient nor competent enough.I get where he's coming from but he's not viewing it properly.
If LA took Jason Tatum instead of Lonzo life would be a lot better.
AD is made of glass and Bron can last maybe another year. Sell now and start the clock with decent return vs waiting another year (or two) which just extends the clock and lessens the return. Simple.
This time don't do the Ball/Tatum type mistake and clear the cap to the studs so you can bring in 2ish stars rather than trading a bunch of assets for one of them. No reason we couldn't be up and running just fine by 2027 and in control of all future picks goin forward.
If they have AD or Bron then they're not getting a top 10 pick in the next 2 years. All they'd have to do is not trade for Russell Westbrook.I understand what you’re saying. So you don’t think any team with a top 10 pick in the next year or two would trade those picks for elite players like AD and Lebron?
Can’t build around AD because of his injuries. Can’t trade him with a solid return because he won’t pass a physical
We’re stuck

It doesn't really matter if they stay healthy. Obviously you're trading them to playoff teams that feel like they're missing one piece. Say you trade Bron to Cleveland right now. That team isn't yielding a top 10 pick in the next two years even if Bron doesn't end up playing a single game for them. What team is? Same deal with AD. It sounds great until you actually try to be realistic about it. Like you said there's really no way out. The real issue was trading all your depth and assets for a $47m 6th man. Trading Bron/AD would be futileWinning a chip is not cut and dry in general. So many things have to go right. Tatum, Mitchell Booker are close…..all guys we could’ve drafted. We’re good at later picks, we suck at lottery picks.
You’re right about those teams not getting a top 10 pick if they had AD or Bron in theory. You’re assuming they’ll stay healthy lol
