**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

At one time Kobe and Steph, along with Shaq, Jordan, Bird, Bron, at one time they were without rings and it was held against them. Holding it against Luka, Tatum, Jokic, any of the league's young stars, holding it against them that they don't have a championship when it is absolutely unknown what their bright futures hold compared to an end-of-career vet, it's like looking at any of the league's greatest of all time before they ever won a championship and going "I'll take the broken down multi-ring Hakeem over this young ringless Shaq.'

"We don't want Nicola Jokic, he's never won anything....."

🗣️

Denver really tanked hard to get him

Lmao he was a 2nd round pick.

Tanking for this administration is what they do best. Sucking for 5 years while some fans give them a pass while giving them their money is what Jeanie & Rambis live for. Y’all are great fans :hat

I get that you're scared man. I get it. I do. It's risky. Zero argument. But it's smarter than hoping/praying that a guy in his twentieth season will survive to a twenty first and lead us to glory, at 39. That's June of 2024. What do you expect from him by June 2025?

I'm not saying to trade him for a 2nd round pick or anything. Clearly we gotta think really forward. Just like teams want our 27-29, maybe we can ask for their 24-26. (Or however) Then as we clear the New Orleans picks and get back to owning our rights we will have cap space to shop.

Need scouting to be solid (they are) and need a GM upgrade. 🙏

Philly ain't winning no championship with that current roster.

Big facts. I don’t think folks realize how close we are to winning a title. Look around the nba. The only teams that are truly dominant are Milwaukee and Boston and I just watched the Lakers give em hell a few weeks ago.

Hitting a hard reset for what?
y’all all lived thru 2012-2019 and that sucked but it netted us 1 title so it was all worth it. Now we still have a chance to win a title with a trade but y’all wanna do another 5-7 year tankathon?

We gettin Giannis?!?!?!?!?

........

I'm......I got nothin. Yea.... *Seinfeld.gif*

The west is wide open. No team stands out. I didn’t say they would automatically win the title. I just think they’ll be a much better team once they package Russ/Nunn’s salary for some better role players.

If there’s a 10% chance to win the title you have to take it. I happen to think the percentages are much higher than 10% if you make the right trades but I guess that’s a difference of opinion.

AD (when healthy) & Lebron (when rested / Engaged as his age allows) are still 2 top 10 players. Lakers might never get 2 top 10 players again. This **** isn’t a given. Go for it.

Those were exciting wins, absolutely. 🔥 But just because we gave them hell at the beginning of the season does not mean that we are super close to beating 4 of the league's best teams in back-to-back-to-back-to-back series without ever losing more than 3 games in any of those series. That's what it takes to win a championship. There is no reason to believe we're super close to that, not even with a decent trade. It would have to be an Earth shattering Kwame-for-Pau trade.

If you’ve followed Anthony Davis’ career over the past 3 seasons, you’ll know we can’t rely on him. He is more likely to get hurt again this season than he is to finish the season healthy

There’s a reason no team offered Lebron a max contract and there a reason we can’t get a Gobert-like haul for AD. Age, mileage, injury history are real factors that teams deem high risk

lakers track record of picking lottery picks is pretty suspect.

they are good at finding late first round, second round, and undrafted talent tho

I’ve followed AD since UK. I’ll take the risk.

Your 2nd point makes no sense. Lebron signed a max extension for the lakers and he def would’ve got a max from any team he chose in free agency.

... but when not. 👀😬

Why are so many avoiding that? 👀

Because I’ve seen it work before and it won us a title. That is enough for me compared to the alternate.

Build a good team around and AD won’t have to play 35+ minutes til the playoffs. It can be done.

a deep team might be willing to gamble on ad. they can afford for him to be a part time player.

You guys had years after 2013 to get another star and only got Lebron because he wanted to come and he brought AD.

After the Lebron era, Lakers will be done for another 10 plus years. No current star wants to come and be the franchise unless Tatum changes his mind.

 @ no team offered Bron the max…He wasn’t a free agent…

All this doom & gloom on AD…I wish y’all stop acting so damn pessimistic

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills bro

What they don’t understand.

It’s just like the Warriors. Their management is “building for the future” but in actuality there is no future after Steph Curry retires. It’s back to the projects regardless.

That’s not how it works. Duh he wasn’t a free agent. There’s a thing called back channels. He chose to extend with a team who showed him they can’t put a good roster together for two straight years yet he still chose that team. Why? Because he had no other options not because he believes in Rob and AD’s health.

Y’all are really delusional.

Happy New Year’s Y’all. Wish y’all the best :hat
