**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

There’s clips circulating from last name highlighting Austin on defense and it’s just as bad as D Lo… but at least he brought it offensively and is at least capable of not being a cone on D.

The thing about benching a guy is you don’t want to lose him completely. Surely after watching film he knows he has to be better, so let’s see what happens game 2.

Mike Malone is trying to **** with Ham. Problem is, is they don’t know to shut the **** up instead.

The same thing that hurts LA defensively, hurts Denver.

The more movement the Lakers can create, the easier it will be to score.

DLo should be the main facilitator. Even Malone talked about it, and said if he’s not hitting shots you can take him out of the game. He finished the thought, especially if the Lakers are running him off ball. DLo did it in the Grizz series and the Warriors series. The more he has the ball, the more the whole team prospers. Not just for him to score, but to create spacing to allow for a bunch of opportunities. If you stick him in the corner of weak side to be a catch and shoot player, there’s no point. Or if you want him to be catch & shoot. Run an off ball screen for him. One of the bigger gripes is how little weak side movement there is on offense regardless of who has the ball (DLo and everybody included on that).

Get AD in the P&R game with DLo and Reaves. Force KCP and Murray to guard AD on a switch. If they don’t switch, and AD has a good screen, DLo has an open path. Or AR can hunt contact. If the defense collapses. Rui has an open cut to the hoop. (If Vando could learn just this one skill, he’d be infinitely better, and the offense of the starting 5 wouldn’t need to sub Vando out.

Reaves can be used in a way very similar to DLo. Works well in the pick and roll. Gets guys on his hip. But AR is a much better attacker than he is a passer on P&R. Also Reaves has more umph for a catch and drives. Should be the secondary facilitator.

Bron as the primary facilitator slows the game down too much. He takes way too much time off the clock, and a lot of time is spent LeBron watching by everybody else. If he gets it and attacks immediately, he’s effective. Just IQ, skill and strength it is hard to defend. If they could have him catch and drive, Cut to the hoop, In the post with Murray on a switch if they continue to let that happen. He could score 25 on those alone and conserve energy.
The point of getting DLo and the emergence of AR was to stop relying on Bron so much because it wasn’t working well. Let the guards run the show.

AD. Get him in the P&R. Get him on switches. Gordon is a solid defender, but he gives up way too much size. Nobody 1-3 can handle AD. And Jokic only can make it difficult with strength. But his technique defensively isn’t optimal for AD.

Rui will be able to live off of the gravitational pull of the other 4. If they can keep the offense moving, they will help off of Rui before anybody else. That’s where Rui can sneak in a couple baskets a quarter. And have a sneaky 20.

The offense and defensive blueprints to win are there. They’ve successfully implemented them in 2 series. And since February.
Going small doesn’t work for the starters against bigger lineups. LeBron at the 5 is terrible. Those are the gospels.

DLo first sub out after 6 minutes (extra minutes if he’s on a heater). Rui and LeBron at 8. AD/Reaves full 12. Put DLo/Rui/Bron both back in to start the 2nd (this is probably where you need like 3-4 Wenyen minutes to start the 2nd).

We’re not stupid. We see Bane and Klay etc cooking AR. But he is giving effort and provides offense to somewhat offset what he gives up. Just need Dlo to play hard

Definitely would not be a good idea to bench D-Lo. This is where Bron's Kobe and AD's Gasol come in to play in the locker room leadership category to keep him motivated, determined, and laser focused.

We are probably not going to win this series bc we don’t have a big that can distract Jokic while ad roams. It will come down to that.

Oh and also bc D’lo isn’t built for this

i believe in Dlo, he’s the best shooter on the team.
They talking **** because they know the Lakers are unstoppable when Dlo gets off.

Even if he struggles in game 2 he’ll kill it at home.

I actually read all that, but it's exactly what needs to be done. Well said.

Lebron needs to get on his Draymond and take Jokic.

Split minutes there with Rui (& maybe even Wenyen - altho he’s not strong enough and fouls too much… maybe not lol).

I'm not going to count DLo out just yet. Not with Bron, AD, and Schroder's vet leadership to give him all that support.

But I do agree that if we lose the series its because AD is at the 5 instead of the 4 cause we have only one legit Big getting minutes making life a whole lot easier for Jokic.

Bron on Jokic in spurts for sure. Can't win the series without it. We gotta wear Joker down, body him up, and muscle him. And the King has the strength to do it.

AD-Bron-Rui tag team on Jokic for 40 minutes a night may just be enough to have similar impact on him from a physical perspective that AD-Dwight-Javale had 3 years ago. The negative there however is that it will take more of a toll on Bron's body than it did on Dwight, and we need Bron's offense and scoring more in this series than any of the previous two.

AR is okay, DLO is the problem.

Don’t gotta worry too much about DLo I feel. He’ll show up.

We just don’t need no small ball lineup to start the game.
