**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

They’re not going to have much choice on Reaves. Either they want a star or they don’t. And if they do, Reaves is in every trade. And DLo opting in doesn’t alleviate that. Just from an asset standpoint all “star” trades have picks and sometimes pick swaps, your best young asset or a good young asset (Reaves) and your highest discardable salary (either DLo or Rui fits this). Each team who is in the market for a big swing trade has a young-ish cost controlled piece that they would trade.

Rob is going to screw around for the next 3 months like he always does. Piss off some teams, agents and players in the process, and have walked around to a 360.

Lakers Nation did what he views as an ideal offseason.

To save you time.

He also had to deal Gabe for free because if they didn’t then any Mitchell trade wouldn’t be allowed unless it was a player for player trade without taking in more salary due to 2nd apron.

No Bigs to help AD = straight LOSERS

Throw that spreadsheet from LakerNation away will ya

Obviously Laker future draft picks are the most desirable assets, but a solid young role player on a very team friendly contract is up there as well.

No one really wants DLo, Rui, Vando, Gabe or whoever else you want to add to the list. They’re just throw-ins to make the money work.

still a worrying aspect of the aprons on trades. Go over tier 1 can’t take back more money in any trade (if Mitchell puts them over tier 1, Rui/AR/JHS need another salary). And hard capped under tier 2 because you are not allowed to stack salaries in a trade, which from how it was explained in Laker Nation would create an issue with a Mitchell trade or they have to unload salaries for free or let Max walk as well.
The CBA is basically forcing teams to avoid 3 stars because they are trying to make teams incapable of fielding full rotations.

Nobody likes DLo fine. DLo/AR isn’t the optimal pair, fine. If Bron was younger, three star approach makes sense because you can then pivot out quick if it doesn’t work. In my opinion, they need to throw as many darts at the dart board as possible in the next year/2 because of what Bron / AD are.
