**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Windy and Bontemps:
Los Angeles Lakers
Windhorst: It's a fun parlor game to consider whether LeBron might change teams one last time. You don't have to be a pro basketball reporter to see the chemistry he had with Stephen Curry in last summer's Olympics and to figure out how the Golden State Warriors could put together an offer.

But simply, it's just a game. James has repeatedly made two things clear both in public and behind the scenes: He wants to be a Laker, and the trades he wants involve the Lakers making roster upgrades around him. James had chances at last season's trade deadline and during his unrestricted free agency to consider a move. There was no drama, as he quickly and repeatedly pledged himself to stay.

"The Lakers or any team who might want to trade for him don't really have any say in the matter," one league executive told ESPN. "He's got a no-trade clause. Unless he goes in and tells [owner] Jeanie [Buss] he wants to leave, it's not even a discussion."

Bontemps: The Lakers remain armed with D'Angelo Russell's $18.6 million expiring contract, plus several more minimum players on expiring deals, as well as their 2029 and 2031 first-round picks, but it's going to be difficult for one trade to fix the myriad issues with the current roster. That's led to a belief among rival scouts and executives that the Lakers would love to find both a point guard and a big man to fill out their roster -- though adding both, with the team's limited assets, won't be easy.

Fun Stat.

Not a single player has a + net rating (JHS doesn't count) when DLo is off the floor.
Only one regular player has a - net rating when DLo is on the floor. (LeBron -0.6 )

Net Rating Swing
LeBron 15 point swing better when DLo is on.
AD 16 point swing better when DLo is on
Rui 17 point swing better when DLo is on
AR 15 point swing better when DLo is on
Max 23 point swing better when DLo is on
Knecht 23 point swing better when DLo is on

When AR is on the floor, only DLo has a positive net rating, Gabe is 0.00

Bron's touches has also gone up from 75 a game before DLo went to the bench, to 88 since. AD’s touches dropped from 79 to 75.

Last game DLo gets 89 touches..... 28 & 14

Inpredictable has Win Probability Added for players when they are on versus off. DLo is 15th of guys with 1,000 possessions. Thats of 169 people. Drop it to 500 possessions. He’s 19th.

When DLo is off the court, the Lakers are 106.3/120.4 in 528 minutes. (Would be 29th/30th respectively)
When DLo is on 629 minutes 115.4/111.7 (T-7th/ T-12th)

What’s this “personal reasons” about? Bronny out there traveling, playing well so it can’t be a family issue.

Bron goes on sabbatical, restrictions for trade stuff expires in 2 days...

I'd take Kuminga, Wiggs, and Podz in a heartbeat, just FYI

Lakers, Wizards to make a trade?

Kuzma is the obvious name to be on the move from the Wizards ahead of the trade deadline, and a reunion with the Lakers could make a lot of sense given Los Angeles' need for more scoring weapons on the wing. However, big man Jonas Valanciunas is the Wizards player who has been linked to the Lakers the most in recent weeks. Valanciunas becomes eligible to be traded on Dec. 15, and the two sides have already discussed the framework of a couple of different scenarios, league sources said.

In what is no secret to anyone, the Lakers want to add big man depth next to Anthony Davis. Valanciunas appears to be the guy at the front of the list even though he still has two more years left on his contract after this season. There are rumors bouncing among league circles that the Lakers are prepared to part ways with D'Angelo Russell and a couple of second-round picks to land the Wizards center, a deal that would most definitely have more moving parts to it. Malcolm Brogdon is another Wizards player who comes up in connection with the Lakers throughout league circles.

Another scenario the Lakers have discussed involves Gabe Vincent and second-round draft picks, according to ClutchPoints' Lakers insider Anthony Irwin. Christian Wood, Cam Reddish, or Jaxson Hayes would also likely be involved in the said package to open up more financial flexibility in Los Angeles. The Lakers have five second-round picks that they can play around with ahead of the trade deadline.

Robert Williams III, Dorian Finney-Smith, Cam Johnson, Nick Richards, and Bruce Brown are other players the Lakers have internally discussed leading back to the start of the season as potential trade targets.

Another big, and two decent 3&D players was our success in the bubble.

Trying to replicate the bubble success is somewhat folly at this point, the advantages that had in 2020 aren't nearly as applicable with today's league the way it's played

You don't think we can benefit greatly with another big, and two players who can shoot spot up 3's and defend? It's kind've what we need. Not to replicate the bubble success. But to maximize what we have with Bron & AD.

I think you can’t replicate 2020. Because Bron can’t replicate 2020. That’s is the biggest problem.

So if you do that. You need players that are even better than the complimentary guys from 2020.

and every single guy on the team in the front half of the rotation is pretty necessary right now. So if you trade that person, you need to not only replace them with equal or better talent. But get something else as well to fit their 3 needs.

Kill two birds with one stone

Good chance imo this deal happens, especially since there are very few GM’s who want to deal with Pelinka

Nah man

You still need multiple impact Bigs in this league and multiple two-way impact perimeter players who complement the stars to win titles in this league.

BOS doesn’t win a chip with Smart, Horford and Grant/Robert Williams but they win one when they finally add a legit impact big KP to help old Al Horfird and legit impact two-way guards in White and Holiday while beefing up their frontcourt.

Those player aren't available and don't grow on trees, specifically with the 3 and D guys. Val or Vic would no doubt help, but mostly we don't have the horses personnel wise because D'Lo sucks and he'd need to be the salary piece needed to get an impact 3 and D guy.

Just FYI, the Wizards Front Office has changed. It's some OKC guys in there. So I wouldn't count on them dealing for Vincent. I could see them wanting the Maxes, but they are all enamored with Jalen Williams type dudes at the moment.

The guy I want the Lakers to go hard after is 6’8” 2-way do it all forward Bilal Coulibaly but I doubt WAS is dumb enough to trade him unless we give up 1 or 2 first rounders
