**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Leemelone, you already knew JJ was gone :lol

You just like to start up these convos to disparage Magic and rob
Troll level platinum

Can't strike out in free agency if you never even step up to the plate

You guys never get old I swear :lol

The last 10 pages has summed up the last 5 years ...rage & confusion lol
DLo gone. Let it go. I thought the kid would develop quite nicely (honestly I still think he will) but we all need to admit he had his flaws on & off the court. Do I personally believe he would learn from his mistakes, yes I do, but I'm not getting paid to make those decisions. Do I think that trade was short sighted and did rob/Magic jump the gun and could have got something better, sure do. But again, I'm not getting paid to make those decisions.
But at the end of the day he's gone. He wasn't here that long for some to feel so strongly about him. Maybe the inconsistency of the decision made for the trade, but not DLo himself lol.

Oh and Zo is a better PG prospect. Not even close. Wish no ill-will on him. I want him to rock out. I think he will.
I think it would have been a lot smarter to see how they could have played for the 1st half of the season and flip him at trade deadline. But whateverz.

I was a Mitch fan. But he's gone too. He cut himself off to the rest of the world for Jim. He died on his sword. RIP to a great, but we gotta let the new regime do their thing. As much as I think Magic is an idiot, he has a way with words and can light up a room. That goes a long way. And he seems like he is willing to put the work in. Same thing with rob, even tho other agents and gm's hate him.

They do look a little funny in the light to me tho. So they will def have to prove me wrong. I'm not gonna lie, their plan is legit identical to Mitch/Jim lmao. So we will have to see. Maybe they think since it's Magic there that's the sole difference for other players to come here.
Cuz the way I look at it. They have the same plan as them. Using the same players they drafted. And using the same scouting/draft team they had. So we shall see....

To me that's the only thing that has been golden thru all our years, our scouting and draft team. Shouts out to Jessi Buss & Ryan West. I legit wouldn't mind them running the show.

GoLakers

What's not to get? As if it's some drastically different strategy :lol

The thing you don't get though is Mitch/Jim going after LMA, Monroe, Deandre, Melo, Lebron when we have a crap coach no one likes to play for, a front office in complete disarray that free agents all hear horror stories about, and a Kobe on his last legs that most don't want to play with. Plus offering Pau 3 yrs $30 mill after years of dragging his name thru the mud, only to then let Pau embarrass us and take a worse offer from Chi. And the embarrassment of #stayd12

Talk about out of touch

Everyone knew those big names weren't gonna sign becuz of all those organizational issues

At least now there's hope, next summer will be the right time with stability upstairs, Luke and young talent

Striking out is bad. Not participating under the premise that you expect to strike out is just as bad. Why is that so hard to admit? I can admit Mitch and Jim made mistakes. I know dlo had his flaws. Some of you just can't bring yourselves to do anything outside of blind worship for magic and Rob.

So you think they are not meeting with Hayward, Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry because they expect to strike out?

Could it be they have their sights set on other players next summer that they view as better than the above players? (PG-13/Russ/Lebron).

I don't get it. Everyone says let PG-13 come here next summer for free, don't give up assets. It appears as of now that's what will happen, and you mad?

CP3 is 32 and wants a max deal into his mid 30's. Is that who you want?

Who else you want us to meet with? Milsap?

Just picture for a second that they're not meeting with these guys because these aren't the players they want

You just listed 30+ year old LeBron and Russ as better options tho. Say pg is a given. There is not such a drastic difference between pg + one of this year's free agents or next year's. Not to the point of completely abandoning this year's class. Could even argue that some of this year's class is a better fit in terms of age and character. The team is not going to improve so much that it becomes a major selling point next year.

Magic all but said he expected to strike out this year. He actually said he didn't expect guys to move at all which is even worse but I'll let him slide. You refuse to lay any criticism at all for the same things you killed the old guard for. I get it. No further questions your honor

What big FAs switched teams so far?

Hayward, Lowry, Milsap might be the only ones

Wasn't Magic referring to FAs that move and leave money on the table to leave their current teams?

The Chris Paul **** is such nonsense. Dude didn't even make it to free agency, he forced a trade to Houston, he didn't even go there as a free agent or meet with Morey, he was recruited by James Harden for years. And again why would we want him when we just drafted Lonzo. There's a difference in whiffing on guys you want and not getting a meeting (ie Whiteside, Durant) and not getting meetings with guys you are not interested in getting. Dude is being willfully obtuse.

You really think the Lakers aren't interested in cp3, Hayward etc? Say no more dude. Why would we want cp3 when we just signed lonzo? Why do you have a hard on for Russ or PG when we have lonzo and Ingram? You don't even make any sense

Why would they pursue Hayward if PGs people are telling them he's coming? Come on dude, just trying too hard to criticize

What has come out of Magic's mouth directly? Did he NOT say he's waiting for the crop of marquee free agents next summer and that they were looking for short term deals to not compromise that scenario for next summer. Why in the hell do you keep mentioning Chris Paul, CP0 DID NOT MAKE IT TO FREE AGENCY ANYWAY! We don't have the cap space for Gordon Hayward either. This trolling nonsense is getting old, you bout to get the whip treatment forreal.

Now juxtapose this to last summer when we actually had cap space for marquee free agents that were available and were trying to secure meetings with the top guys that actually made it to free agency and they wouldn't even meet with us. Like this is easy man. It has nothing to do with my affinity for any player, if they don't get a meeting with PG or Cousins or LeBron or Westbrook or whoever is a marquee next summer after making moves to do just than THEN rake them over the coals all you want. But you've been looking ridiculous for about a week right now.

Starts at 6:40.

Magic: There's free agents out there but I think all the free agents that are big time are gonna sign back with their team
Welp

Rob: If the perfect player presents itself for '17 of course we'll look at it.
Reddick?

How did Paul not make it to free agency :lol. He was unrestricted and told the clippers he was leaving and that's what initiated the trade. Morey made it happen like what magic is trying to do with pg. There's another interview I can't find right now where magic basically said he wouldn't pursue Chris Paul because he wants him to get out the 2nd round

You can't be this slow. Chris Paul opted into his deal and was traded to Houston 3 days ago June 28th. Free agency started July 1st.  He was not a free agent at 12:01 last night.

You're being deliberately obtuse right? He was traded because he told his existing team he was leaving. He signed with his existing team for the sole purpose of leaving. Why didn't magic propose a similar deal? He actually had one of the pieces from that deal and moved it for a late first rounder instead. He didn't attempt to pursue Paul because he assumed all the big time guys would stay put. He assumed wrong.

Yeah not going to bother responding to you anymore, you've clearly gone off the deep end in multiple threads.

Glad we didn't go after Reddick.

No point getting him for 1 year knowing we can't afford him beyond next summer - unless you settle on PG and Reddick as your two big long term free agents - which I don't want.  Even if he's great and we work so well with him on our team, it would just be a tease because no way you pay him the ridiculous contract he'd want next summer
