**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Jeanie and Rob can’t be this dumb and naive to hire JJ Redick can they? Lol

First they break up a championship team immediately after winning the O’Brien.
Then they trade the house for Westbrook.
They they sign Ham the rookie who had never proven anything as a coach
And now they want to sign yet another rookie coach on a win-now team

Jeanie and Rob’s judgement is to be questioned, criticized, and ripped apart moving forward. They should not be trusted

Haslem is dead on with his comments

Still believe we should have traded him.

Will be interesting to see the type of deal he gets from Orlando or San Antonio

Probably would have missed the playoffs with what would have been available. The report is that “Sources say the Lakers tried to trade him at the deadline, but no team wanted to acquire him because of the leverage he’d have heading into the summer with that player option.” Even then, any trade was attach a pick, and get some guy who isn't a PG. And isn't a better player.

DLo asked for the player option, and in exchange gave up his no trade. LA wanted a straight 2-year deal. DLo didn't want it. Why? Leverage LA a year later.

Besides the point, he's more likely to be a Laker next year than he isn't. And then we can do the debate again of keep him or trade him when the return is Royce O'Neale.

 So they couldn't find anybody to take him on because he was an expiring deal. So the "leak" is that Rob is going to pay him an even bigger amount of money to be an expiring contract.

BUT also trade their picks in the off-season before you even get to that point.

Rob is definitely hitting a stride of "what are you even looking to do at this point?"

Lol he's gone man. It is what it is

There’s always the percentage. Hell there’s a percentage LeBron decides he’s out.

Lakers “want” XYZ. They will be outbid and forced to match it. The alternative is going to be a really bumpy ride.

Also even as a person who likes DLo. Ain’t no team going to trade anything Lakers would want just to sign him.

It's simple D'Lo wet the bed in the playoffs again. There's no reason to bring him back on the team to play he's just a number and depreciated asset at this point. If they're going hard after Donovan that extra 1st rd pick that would have went away with D'Lo in any deal is going to be critical.

I see both sides.

D'Lo was very good during the regular season and it would suck to let the salary slot just go. On the other hand, he craps his pants when the competition levels ups in the playoffs.

Feel like plenty of teams will go after Mitchell and those teams have a lot of assets. Only way Mitchell ends up a Laker is if he says I will only extend as a Laker.

I agree with not bringing him back, but they are going to need to have a replacement for his production. He was garbage again in the playoffs, but he was very useful in the regular season. Need to replace that production for the season.
