let this thread die (NYK)

I'm not mad at the idea of Thibbs or Ewing....Ewing has definitely done his time as an assistant and could even bring some luck to the franchise.

Thibbs is one of those coaches where it's at least worth a call. We'll see how far the Bulls go, but last nights game proved a lot and it will realistically be a huge long shot that he'd come here.

I agree. Knicks fans are delusional if they think he'd come here to coach this team and work for Dolan. He was already here and saw how it played out when JVG quit. I just don't see him leaving Chi for us even if Chi loses in the ECF again or 2nd round.

Plenty other, just as good, and even better coaches that stress defense and hold players accountable.

Anyway, off this coach search yall on to the current one

Al Iannazzone: Carmelo Anthony cut off a reporter who said Melo proved D'Antoni's system doesn't work for everyone. "Did I?" Anthony said. http://twitter.com/Al_Iannazzone/statuses/180354256312864768

Frank Isola: More Melo: "As far as (Mike D'Antoni's) system working or not working for me it worked in the Olympics when we won the gold medal." http://twitter.com/FisolaNYDN/statuses/180351032746979329

Frank Isola: Carmelo: "If I'm the one that messed (D'Antoni's) system up, ya'll want to blame me, I'll take it. Along with everything else."

Marc Berman: Knicks owner James Dolan gave his rah-rah speech before Portland game last night in locker room and told them nobody is getting traded at today's deadline. Of course he meant anyone integral. “Mr. Dolan was perfectly clear in his message nobody was going anywhere,'' Stoudemire said. "He wants to give this team a chance to succeed. That’s what we’re going to do.''

Marc Berman: Amar'e Stoudemire admits offensive system is a' changin', blending more toward the superstars, less toward Linsanity. "He's going to utilize his leading scorers, myself and Carmelo. make sure he takes advantage of every opportunity on the court,'' Stoudemire said after practice. "We've been profound scorers all our careers. He wants to make sure we take advantage of that.''

Jared Zwerling: Seems to be more cross screens from midrange to create slashes for Amare and Tyson to the hoop. Also more down screens for Melo to get open.

Jared Zwerling: Jerome Jordan said the offense didn't feel much different, except there is a little more movement. Like a flex offense, esp. to help Melo.
Barbara Barker: Woodson : on end of game philosophy: "I’m going to go to Melo and Amar’e and guys who have done it."
Marc Berman:
'Antoni's speedball is officially dead as Woodson practice focuses on structured sets. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/knicksblog/knicks_learning_new_star_centered_5gC62xfiyJD0l2r3PBYEdL
Al Iannazzone: Melo said today, "“I’m not a do what I do type of guy."

Al Iannazzone: And this one from Melo: "I had to sacrifice for the system, for Mike D’Antoni’s system. I had no problem with with that. Tonight was a different system. Everybody felt comfortable tonight. You all saw it out there. Everybody was smiling and having fun.

I don't think it's gunna happen but money talks and most men can be bought for the right price. So you can't really say there's no way it happens although it's improbable.

The reason why I feel a certain way about Calipari is because i feel he's not built for NY. I think he wouldn't be able to handle dealing with the NY media as well. And the way he handled things with the Nets. He couldn't control that team. Of course in college, he has had more success because he only dealt with college students. But the NBA is different... Yes I remember that Nets team was hit with a few injuries but I always thought Calipari was a joke of a coach. Yall people complained about D'antoni this past season? Calipari is even worse IMO...I don't care what he's done in college lately...He would not succeed coaching in NY. /endrant
edit: just as how i remembered it...

Jared Zwerling: Melo admitted that when he came back from the injury, after the team was moving forward w/ a Lin-generated offense, it was different to him. http://twitter.com/JaredZwerling/statuses/180422647602098176
Jared Zwerling: Raymond Felton: 'Nothing wrong' with D'An's system - Knicks Blog - ESPN New York http://es.pn/wwmngY

Jared Zwerling: Sometimes D'Antoni was inaudible when he spoke. Woodson is very stern and to the point. His calmness and careful words makes you listen.http://twitter.com/JaredZwerling/statuses/180417773212663808

Jared Zwerling: Woodson reminds me of the guy who's jamming out in the jazz club on a late Monday rainy night & when you hear him speak, you want to listen.http://twitter.com/JaredZwerling/statuses/180417332332601345

Jared Zwerling: One noticeable difference b/w Woodson and D'Antoni's practice was that there was a slower pace today, highlighted by halfcourt sets.

Yea, dudes are coming out of left field with that. It's not like dude would have the same impact defensively just by entering the building. This team isn't built for that.

its a race thing
SAS dont want to see a non black minority take the spot light at the expense of a black person

smith has no reason to hate on lin but he constantly does it, and time and time again he brings up lin's weaknesses or bad night to make melo look good....and he was clearly the only knicks fan to not be happy with linsanity stint.

yes sas is sometimes critical of melo but he does it in an endearing way

melo haters arent fueled by race, its the fact that melos been playing like garbage and hes the so called super star of the team

no one blames melo for lin not playing well but seems like there are more melo lovers who blame lin for melo not playing well. that what exactly SAS is

Relax

He's at least owed an interview.
He would have had a coaching job by now if teams felt he were capable, they probably know something we don't.
Melo doesn't want to be called a coach-killer
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The day after receiving most of the blame for Mike D'Antoni's resignation as Knicks coach, Carmelo Anthonytried to defend himself and his reputation.

Anthony said he did what 'Antoni asked of him and doesn't want to be known as a coach-killer.

"That bothers me because I never want that label on me," Anthony said Thursdayafter Mike Woodson's first practice as Knicks interim coach. "I did everything in my power to try and communicate with coach Mike, talk with coach Mike, have a great relationship with coach Mike. Even right now, I feel we have a great relationship."

Amar'e Stoudemire said 'Antoni left because he became "frustrated" that "everyone wasn't buying into his system," but Anthony denied that there was division in the locker room.

Anthony also became very defensive when a reporter said he proved not everyone can thrive in 'Antoni's offense. The Knicks went 26-37, playoffs included, with Anthony in the lineup under D'Antoni. His defensive stance continued when he was asked to react to his ex-coach reportedly feeling he couldn't get the best out of him.

"I think it's false," he said. "Me and Mike talked constantly about trying to find out different ways in what I can do and what we can do as a team. It wasn't working. We lost games, and when you lose games, people say it's not working, and of course the blame is on me. As far as the system working for me or not working for me, it worked in the Olympics when we won the gold medal. I'll take that.

"If I'm the one that messed coach Mike's system up, if you all want to blame me, I'll take it, along with everything else."

Anthony hadn't spoken to D'Antoni but said he planned to reach out to him Thursday.

The Knicks won six of seven games when Anthony was out with a groin injury and Jeremy Lin was in charge of the offense. After Anthony returned, they went 2-8 under D'Antoni, and it was clear that tension was building in the locker room and on the court.

'Antoni had said the Knicks were getting "sidetracked with issues I don't think are that important . . . The issues are I can't play with you and you can't play with him."

But Anthony continued to say he sacrificed his offensive game for D'Antoni's system and that's why his numbers are down this season. He's averaging 21.1 points -- his lowest output since the 2004-05 season -- and shooting a career-low 40.2 percent.

"He came to me and said there were some things that I was going to have to sacrifice, and he wanted me to sacrifice," Anthony said. "When I came back off of injuries, the team was going in a different direction -- running that system, running that offense. We had won games. And for me to come back and try to fit in and try to figure it out and not try to do too much, it was for me to figure that part out."

He said he had no issues about sacrificing his game. "I'm not a do-what-I-do type of guy," he said. "Me and Coach never had that problem where I came out and said I'm going to do what I do and he's going to do what he's doing. I always went to him and asked him what can I do to help the situation and vice versa."

Notes & quotes: As expected, the Knicks didn't make any moves before the trade deadline. Garden executive chairman James Dolan addressed the team before Wednesday's game and said there wouldn't be any changes. "Mr. Dolan was perfectly clear in his message that no one is going anywhere," Stoudemire said. "We need to give this team a chance to succeed and that's what we're going to do."

The Dolan family owns

controlling interests in the Knicks, MSG and CablevisionCablevision owns Newsday.

Yet Mark Jackson has a job? What do they know about him that we don't?

If Melo was a coach killer. George Karl would've lost his job like 3 years ago (a season and a half after they made the WCF).

so basically D'Antoni told Melo when he came back from the injuries that the offense was going to run through Lin

@ us not trading Walker or TD.

What were the trade rumors for moving Landry? or was it just "the Knicks are shopping Landry"?

James needs to promote my man Houston to GM and make our Pres of Operations official by the summer.
Supposedly a couple of western teams were inquiring about him
