LOCK IT UP - College Football - 2009 Season/2010 Off-Season

President is the AD's boss. He/She doesn't have to listen to someone who works for them. They make the decision.

And again....UF AD is not going to say don't add FSU to the conference. Somebody posted a similar rumor about UF's AD not wanting Miami in the conference. the decision isn't going to have anything to do with a football rivalry. It's much bigger than that.

But yes. Pac10 requires a unanimous decision for expansion. Not sure if it's the same for every conference though. But the school presidents pretty much do whatever the commissioner says anyway.

Playoff isnt happening. As much as everyone wants, it could have already happened by now.

Plus, one of the articles made a great point. The Big Ten, Pac-10, etc.. cant control how there teams would do in a playoff, but they can contol the money and TV contracts which is what this is all about.

Rockies draft Kyle Parker (Clemson QB) in the 1st round and Russell Wilson (NC State QB) in the 4th round.

2 less starting QB's in the ACC?

GAINESVILLE – The Florida Gators have lost one piece of its star-studded 2010 recruiting class.

Cornerback/running back Travon Van is enrolled in summer classes at Marshall University, Thundering Herd spokesman Randy Burnside confirmed to the Sentinel on Tuesday. Burnside declined further comment on Van's status with Marshall.

Van has been released from his letter of intent to Florida after failing to qualify academically, according to the Huntington (W.V.) Herald-Dispatch. He is attempting to qualify at Marshall before the 2010 season.

The Sentinel left a message with Florida spokesman Steve McClain and coach Troy Starr from San Diego Helix High School, where Van played most of his high school football. Van transferred to Milford (N.Y.) Academy for his senior year and planned to enroll with the Gators during the spring semester, which never happened.

Florida's now-27-player recruiting class was the country's best of 2010 and, at least defensively, could go down as an all-time great.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Van was expected to compete for playing time at either cornerback or an offensive skill position such as running back or wide receiver.

In 2008, Van recorded 1,237 rushing yards, 311 receiving yards and 50 tackles and seven interceptions for Helix.

Van will eventually play for Marshall coach Doc Holliday, a former Gators assistant under Urban Meyer.

Russell Wilson was on the radio today saying that he would be on the gridiron next year for NC State though. We'll see if he keeps his word. From what I understand his father has pretty bad health, so if the money is right he will bounce...

That Midwest, East Etc setup is beyond dope man. That would make CFB 10x better
Nebraska to Big Ten ... on Friday?
June, 9, 2010

By David Ubben

A Big 12 school's executive told the Omaha World-Herald on Tuesday that he expects Nebraska to leave the Big 12 for the Big Ten as early as Friday, ahead of the Big 12's deadline reported previously.

Lee Barfknecht writes:
Direct confirmation from Nebraska of a conference change for the Huskers wasn't immediately available. Sources at two other Big 12 schools told The World-Herald that their athletic directors have instructed them to be ready by week's end for a briefing on probable Big 12 changes.

But athletic director Tom Osborne spoke to a Nebraska radio station on Tuesday evening and his comments are consistent with the anonymous report.
"I think before too long, and I don't know exactly what that time frame is, we'll be able to put this thing to bed because I'm getting tired of it, you're probably getting tired of it, the fans are getting tired of it."

As for the report's validity, it would mean a dynamic shift from the Big Ten's announced time frame. When the Big Ten first announced its intentions to expand in December, it laid out a 12-to-18 month time frame, and held firm to it despite reports to the contrary through its spring meetings last month.

But on Sunday, commissioner Jim Delany admitted that the Pac-10's recent efforts may have accelerated that time table.

"The timeline could be affected," he said.

If tonight's report is correct, then clearly, that acceleration indicates Delany respected the reported ultimatum given to Nebraska and Missouri to pledge a commitment to the Big 12, making his move six months before the window for his timeline opened.

But, if that's the case, then it would make sense for an invitation to apply to also be sent to Missouri. Nebraska's official silence makes sense and assures nothing is official yet, but it's probably safe to assume the athletic facilities attached to Memorial Stadium will be swarming with reporters by the time the work day arrives.

Baylor really trying to ride the Texas schools for a free ride into the PAC-10 If they all go. Damn bums

Nick Marshall to UGA as a DB.

Wanted to play both sports and doing so as a DB is much more feasible then as a QB. I think he could've been a hell of a QB had he stuck to it.

so it will be a FSU/ Tennessee battle for Brissette...

we got Bruce Pearl tho promising he can play Hoops and play seriously

That's only because they're all slow as !#@* and don't want anyone to know.  Need that SEC SPEED, ask Jesse Palmer.
Funny thing is they always show good speed at the combines if they have been training (Warren/Prescott took some vaca time)

Some reporter type from Texas orange website or some @#$% said on radio out here yesterday that Colorado is making a major announcement today, basically coming to the Pac 10 no matter what, as a way to circumvent what Baylor was trying to do.  This way, either the other 5 teams come with them and it goes to 16, or if that does fall thru, then Utah comes with them, and it's a Pac 12.

Forgot the name of the site, figure Dirk would have heard of it, Orange something or other.

I was joking. You damn midwesterners take everything too seriously.

I hope they blow up the current college football conference landscape, detach from the NCAA and establish a playoff system. The NCAA is such a corrupt institution as it is. Otherwise I'd like to see an 8-team playoff, 6 major conference winners plus two wildcards.

Oh yeah, @#!# you too DLo. I hope UGA loses all of its games this year because now that my school's QB is gone, the only way we're getting all of those recruits is by paying as much as those Dawg boosters. I hope Mark Richt gets fired.

Colin Cowherd said a source within USC has told him that they found out the sanctions today, and it will go public tomorrow.

Said in all likelyhood, it is probably a few scholarships taken away for a few years, and previous wins vacated.
