What's stuff has LA done? It's nowhere near the level of what Bryce did last year.
Anderson's transfer from St. Ed's to Glenville wasn't exactly voluntary, and he seems to be a flake, those are the only issues. Having met the kid, he just has a very different personality. Not a thug by any means, but maybe someone who you will need to keep an eye on more than your normal recruit. The reasons he's drawing this out seem to be opposite from the Henderson and Pryor scenarios of years past. Not sure exactly how to describe Latwan, he seems kinda "out there".

The reason that his recruitment is being drawn out is because he has different people trying to push him different places. If it were up to Latwan it seems like he would've just stuck with WVU he loved it there. He has people trying to push him to OSU, and his family is worried about him being in Morgantown with history of players getting in trouble down there they weren't sure that was the right fit.
If i remember correctly OSU just ran out of room for him.

And he was going to take an OV to USC but his mom told him no because that was too far away and she didn't want him that far away from home. Which pretty much left only Miami and WVU. But we weren't even recruiting him until like 2 weeks ago when he contacted Miami.

As far as I know he's still "committed" to WVU anyway. I don't see how it's some big fiasco. Kid just seems indecisive more than anything.

The coaches are saying we have 12-13 scholarships for this class? Might as well throw some offers into FL and see if the DL coaches FL ties can get us some size and speed outside of Texas/LA

Yeah, it'll be a small class...

There's been talk to about Sherman slow playing recruiting now in hopes of putting together a 9 or 10 win season and then going back and trying to sway kids late in the game... I cannot believe that's true though... But it doesn't seem like Sherman is really pushing for commitments right now so who knows, maybe that is a factor...

Sounds like they're sitting in GREAT shape with Cedric Reed and maybe Nathan Hughes if he doesn't get a UT offer... Those two would be a great start... Ladarius Brown looks like a real possibility too... Cameron White, Quincy Aldridge and Trey Metoyer would all be great... They'll take one more OL (Guntekunst?) and sounds like they'll only take a QB if they can get a difference-maker...

Will be interesting to see how much of this slow-play is simply taking more time to evaluate because the class will be so small...

OSU has/had room...they just gave a 'ship to last year's backup kicker. Plus Archie Griffin's kid, who was looking to walk-on. I think there was mutual parting of ways between OSU and Anderson. I think he has no intention of going to Morgantown and am stumped as to why he ever committed in the first place.

I'd put money on it that we don't get any of Ladarius Brown, Nathan Hughes, or Trey Metoyer.

John Brantley would like to remind you that its just spring, and youshould settle down because I'M NOT TIM TEBOW DAMMIT.

Springpractice is underway, and a colossal cocktease it will be. Rememberyour easy storylines that repeat throughout spring practice, and you'llbe fine.

OMG OUR OFFENSE RULES/DEFENSE SUCKS/REVERSE SCENARIO. Themost common neurosis surrounding your spring practice experience willbe the maddening attempt to divine out some kind of ironclad predictionabout the performance of one unit against each other. This will resultin you lying beneath an overpass passed out after drinking a wholebottle of liquor that came in a plastic jug with convenient carryinghandle. It usually looks something like this.

A. Wow, our secondary looks great!

B. Wait. Maybe our quarterback sucks.

C. Or maybe our secondary is just so good that they'd make anyone look good!

D. Or we're doomed to a season of pick sixes and haphazard quarterbacking.

/DRINKING OF GRAIN ALCOHOL COMMENCES FOLLOWED BY BLINDNESS AND POVERTY

Prevent the cycle from ever happening by counting to ten, breathingdeeply, and realize that from year to year the product doesn't changethat much for most colleges. This can be good, as in Oklahoma working Landry Jones into the same multiform offense that's carried Oklahoma through a successful decade-plus. He'll look good, he'll look bad, and come fall it will still be an Oklahoma Bob Stoops team.

This can also be bad, as in LSU still having Gary Crowton as offensive coordinator, which stays the same no matter how physical your practices might be. The general rule: son, don't you be so happy, and for heaven's sake don't you be so sad.

THIS [SKILL PLAYER] IS GOING TO HAVE A BREAKOUT SEASON. A.K.A.the "Dallas Baker Rule," where one player spends the better part ofspring practice snagging passes and stray aircraft out of the sky. Thiswill prompt the OMG BREAKOUT PLAYER tag, applied liberally by anyonewatching this physical specimen completely flex nuts in practice overhis teammates. Then, come fall, they will be buried on the depth chartand fail to produce in the limited opportunities they get.

This leads to multiple fan stresses. Does our coach not recognizethe gilded pony prancing before him? Why is the obvious not recognizedhere? DON'T YOU CARE ABOUT WINNING???

/DRINKING OF GRAIN ALCOHOL IMMINENT FOLLOWED BY WINDOW CLEANER AND SEX FOR PALTRY AMOUNTS OF CASH

Two obvious coping strategies apply here. The first: your coach is asensible evaluator of talent, and knows things you do not. Perhaps thetalent is lazy, and fails to apply himself in the weight room andclassroom. Perhaps they have just murdered a local in a conveniencetiff over the store's lack of banana-flavored Laffy Taffy.* There arereasons, your coach knows them, and it's all really for the best.

The second: your coach is a moron. This can be a reasonableassumption in some cases, but should be used carefully, as thesecondary stress of having your program in their hands also leads toWindowCleanerCocktailLand

OUR OFFENSIVE LINE IS DECIMATED BY INJURY. Hush. Theoffensive line is always decimated by injury. Spring's the only timethey can admit it and get them spiked with the usual array of crutches, boots, screws, soldering paste, plaster, plastic splinting, air casts, bamboo scaffolding, inflatable supports for dry dock work, and variousbuttresses required to heal their gigantic superstructures.

Workers in this file photo busy themselves encasing Florida's 342 pound lineman Carl Johnson in the bamboo scaffolding that will hold him together for spring practice recovery.

Fact: one in every three offensive linemen spend spring in amedically induced coma, and will like grizzly bears surface from theirsleep to take part in summer workouts with a renewed vigor and healedwounds. That explains their inability to do interviews in the spring, the large number of snaps freshmen and sophomores get, and why May inmost college towns coincides with the wholesale demolition of grocerystores' meat sections. They're down about a hundred pounds after thelong nap, and need calories in a hurry.

So, yeah: the offensive line is decimated by injury. It usually is.

YOU WILL LOSE SOMEONE TO INJURY. Prepare thyself. It willhappen, and most likely to an ACL. Anytime people play football bonesand ligaments are paid into the general injury fund.  You do not loseplayers to injury due to random luck. You lose them because God is anOld Testament God, and will later set you car on fire in adrive-through fireworks stand. This is clearly the only healthy way tothink of this situation. Entertain no other options.

NEW SYSTEMS WILL BE CONFUSING. We'd love to dispel all dreadhere. We would. We'd like to give you the case of a young coordinatorwho came to a major SEC school, overhauled a staid offense with a new,pro-style attack complete with reads and multiple formations,  and thentook the league by storm even though his players called the attack"confusing" at first.

We'd love to do this, but more often than not "confusing" stays"confusing," and often becomes "muddled and ineffective andI-got-Phil-Fulmer-fired." If your players are saying this in spring, you have hired Dave Clawson as your offensive coordinator, or someother coach who will attempt to take your barely-academically-qualifiedathletes and mind**** them with eight thousand page playbooks. In thiscase, we only have one suggestion for the carnage that will follow.

*A killing offense, for sure, since Banana Laffy Taffy is the shiiiiiiit.

FLORIDA ALWAYS TARGET one or two of the top prospects in South Carolina, and one it is making a strong pitch for is Marlboro County linebacker Lateek Townsend.

He considers the Gators a strong contender for his services.

"I'm thinking Florida highly," he said. "That's a winning program, so things must be done right. I'm going down there soon for an unofficial visit. I've not seen the campus yet. I put them up there with Clemson and Carolina."

Georgia Tech and Louisville are the most recent offers for Townsend, who also has offers from Clemson, USC, N.C. State, Illinois, Maryland, LSU, Miami, Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska, Michigan State and others.

Mauldin offensive lineman Ryan Norton received a written offer in the mail from Vanderbilt on Thursday, his first offer from an SEC school. He also has offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Illinois and East Carolina.

Norton said USC remains interested and wants to see film. He is also getting interest from Duke and North Carolina. He plans to visit North Carolina on March 20 and Vanderbilt on March 27. He will go to Clemson and Georgia Tech for spring practices.

Offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson of Knoxville was at junior day at Clemson and had a great time. Kerbyson has offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Virginia, Duke, and Arkansas. He went to a junior day at Tennessee and had similar impressions to what he saw at Clemson. He plans to take an unofficial visit to Duke on March 20. Kerbyson is hearing from USC.

USC has made an offer to athlete Terrell Chestnut of Pottstown, Pa. Chestnut also has offers from Boston College, Penn State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia. He is also getting interest from Syracuse, Purdue, Northwestern and Duke. Chestnut visited Pitt late last month.

Defensive back Douglas Middleton of Winston-Salem, N.C., has been to USC several times, including for last season's Florida and Clemson games, and he likes the Gamecocks the most of all the teams showing interest. He has not yet been offered. Middleton also is drawing interest from Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Marshall and Vanderbilt. He attended USC's junior day and plans to go to one at North Carolina. He said he will visit Clemson and Duke. He plans to make another visit to USC and will camp this summer with the Gamecocks.

Calhoun County quarterback Shamier Jeffery was offered by Louisville. He has offers from USC, West Virginia, Nebraska, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Kansas State and Illinois. He was scheduled to be at Clemson on Sunday for the Tigers' first spring practice.

Linebacker Marcus Bullard of Spring Valley has an offer from Wake Forest and is hearing from Clemson, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Maryland, N.C. State, Harvard, Illinois, Stanford and Oregon. He was recently at Wake Forest's junior day, where he came away impressed with the school. Bullard says he is expecting more offers this spring and that Vanderbilt is showing a lot of interest. He plans to go to a junior day there.

Tight end Eric MacLain of Fayetteville, N.C., who was once a Tennessee commitment, has offers from Clemson, USC, North Carolina, Duke, N.C. State, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas and Maryland. He is hearing from LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Alabama. He has been to junior days at Tennessee, Duke, and N.C. State. His next two visits are to Clemson and Virginia Tech. This summer, MacLain plans to camp at Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Duke. He may also visit USC.

Running back Andrew Buie of Jacksonville, Fla., has the offers piling up, including one from USC. Other offers are from Michigan, Iowa State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Auburn, Maryland and Louisville. Buie's cousin, Gus Scott, played for Steve Spurrier at Florida and is now Buie's running back coach in high school.

Buie plans to go to junior day at Auburn on March 27. He plans to visit several schools this summer, including USC.

Wide receiver Damiere Byrd of Sicklerville, N.J., was at USC for junior day last weekend and came away impressed. Byrd has offers from USC, Louisville, Connecticut, Rutgers, Stanford, Duke and Maryland and is hearing from Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, Oregon, Cincinnati, Cal and Purdue. Byrd says he plans to visit Clemson at some point.

Linebacker Marcquis Roberts of Powder Springs, Ga., has an offer from USC. He is hearing from Georgia Tech, Connecticut, and Boston College. Roberts was born in South Carolina and has family in the state. He was set to go to junior day in Columbia but was unable to make it and will try to get in for a spring practice.

Defensive lineman Derrick Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fla., committed to FSU shortly after their junior day and says his commitment is "pretty strong", but he will continue to camp and take visits.

He is looking at attending camps at Clemson and Alabama, and a team camp at USC. He says Clemson and USC will likely get officials, and he plans to take all five of his visits. Mitchell has offers from USC, Clemson, Florida State, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida International, Illinois and Georgia Tech.

I think having to sit out a year/run track/bulk up could be a blessing in disguise.

All I know is that if this kid keeps his head on straight (which is kinda a big "if"), he should be 1st team ACC at minimum eventually.  One of the best HS football players I've seen from here in quite some time.

If you can find his highlights from the playoff game vs. St. Ignatius (top 5 ranked team nationally with top 10 QB, Mark Myers - Pitt commit), do it.

Son had 3-4 picks with almost as much return yardage off of INTs as Ignatius' total yards.

Press conference was postponed because his HS coach is having surgery today. But he's pretty much a Cane anyway.
Plea-change hearing set for Ducks’ James
The Register-Guard

University of Oregon running back LaMichael James is scheduled to return to court Friday to change his plea and be sentenced in connection with domestic violence allegations, court records show.

James, 20, was arrested last month in Springfield. He has pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor charges that include two counts of fourth-degree assault, two counts of physical harassment and one count of strangulation.

A 22-year-old woman who told police she is James’ girlfriend alleged the running back choked and pushed her during an incident outside his Gateway Street apartment, police said.
Masoli charged with 1 count of burglary
EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli faces a burglary charge in connection with a theft at a campus fraternity house in late January.

The Lane Country District Attorney's office says Masoli and former Oregon receiver Garrett Embryhave each been charged with one count of burglary in the second degree.

Masoli and Embry face arraignment in Lane County Circuit Court on Friday afternoon.

The district attorney's office did not respond to a phone call seeking further comment on the case. Representatives for the Ducks also did not immediately respond to e-mails seeking comment.

A fraternity member reported that Masoli and Embry stole two computers and a guitar from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house on Jan. 25.

Masoli is done too.

Man this sucks.

One would think both James and Masoli are done, and as a Beaver fan I hope they are, it is still up to Chip Kelly to decide the punishment. He has shown that he will kick a kid off the team for a facebook post, and another suspension for a year for a DUI, it will be interesting how he handles this with his 2 star players. I think that given the punishment handed out to others that it would be a no brainer and they are gone, but Chip Kelly just seems like a dirt bag to me that will do anything to win. Dude needs to get a hold of that program down there and show players they can't going around acting like fools.

Typical ESPN coverage for sure, the only show that reported anything was Outside the Lines when they had Kelly on there with Canzano a few weeks ago.
