Why do you guys keep asking for another chance?

If Dirty let us have another one this is what would happen. For 10 pages we'd try to be on our best behavior but most likely still break some rules(thatmight be overlooked just to give us a slide), by pg 20 ppl with backup SNs would come through with quick strikes, flames, and comparison pics, there'd be30 posts just of quotes of said flames and comparisons, as it continued several side arguments would arise resulting in more flaming. If it reaches 40 pagesit'd be the same shhh diff PYP. Not to mention the other funny shh going on NT now. If we had a PYP right now I'd expect ustream bs, Ben Barra roasts,something bout Henz, etc., etc. It'd be epically funny but locked and banned once again.

I think a lot of you thinking nothing was wrong with the way we had PYPs were just ignoring that so many ppl broke the rules and thought it was okay since themods did not enforce the rules broken expeditiously.

If the comparison is insulting then yes, it is against the rules. Why you chose to curse in this of all threads is beyond me, but if peopleinsist on testing the rules that's fine by me.

I don't see all the hoopla about pyp's it's the same people who post in them time after time, with usually the same pictures, besides we alreadyknow what all the females on this site look like anyway.

The mods have given "us" many chances to have a civil PYP. "We've" failed every time.

However, I've never been really clear on the reasons for the lock. Is it the name-calling? Comparisons?

People are usually laughing and having fun with their fellow NTers.

If you don't like the rules (the mild name-calling and comparisons), don't play the game (PYP).

No blood, no foul?

EDIT: Hopefully, my post doesn't give off the impression that I care about PYPs. I'm trying to speak from the perspective of the people that do. (Theyare good for a laugh, though.)

If you don't like the rules ( NikeTalk'sRules of Conduct ), don't play the game (Logout).


I don't know why you're assuming that the PURPOSE of the PYP thread is to insult other users. That's never been allowed here. So, what you're saying is that you want to play a game that's prohibited by our rules. Now do you see why the threads get locked?

The ONLY way a PYP flies here is if it's done without insults or disrespect. If you think that's no fun - don't participate. If you want to roastother people, go somewhere else and don't bring it here. NikeTalk isn't the only site on the Internet. We're not trying to be all things to allpeople and we're never going to bend on the issue of disrespect because that's the reason this site exists in the first place. If we wanted a boardwith insults, racism, porn, and profanity we'd have just kept on using NikePark and not wasted a moment of our time creating and moderating NikeTalk.

You're confusing the issue. The PYP threads aren't banned because of immaturity, they're banned due to constant rule violations and a complete lack of responsibility among thread participants.
The issue of immaturity was brought up to demonstrate the irony of complaining that the forum's "kid friendly" rules unduly restrict childish behavior.

The old argument was that people that just want to post their pictures shouldn't have to be the butt of the joke, if thats the case those handful can get their own pyp for all that amtters

They did have a thread like that: it was called "post your picture." If you want to have a separate roast thread, go someplace else.

The rules here have ALWAYS prohibited disrespectful comments. That's not changing. Luckily, there are several billion other destinations on the web. Pick one and move on. Life's too short to waste whining about being unable to insult strangers on an internet message board for sneaker fans.

Someone already tried that but eventually it turned into the same thing as every other PYP.

If we felt people would actually honor that, no problem. It's been attempted before, though, with predictable results. People have tried tostress in the topic post and throughout the first page that "we need to keep this clean" "no insults, let's make this one last," etc.and what do you suppose happens within 2 hours? And guess what: when the insults DO start, the same people on page one who were all about keeping the threadclean are quoting insults and cackling away like Robin Quivers. Nobody reports the violations, it spirals out of control, and in under 3 hours we have 25+pages of garbage to wade through and a dozen bans to issue. We're done with that.

The users who actually would enjoy a clean PYP thread can enjoy something similar with the WDYWT threads in sneaker showcase. The general form thread winds upbeing imbecile amateur hour. So, it's a matter of what you want. If people want the former, they can go to sneaker showcase. If they want the latter,they can visit another message board.
