Manti Te'o's Girlfriend Never Existed

Right. My man JJ caught my eye when he said that. Like how can you compare these situations? :lol

My mind is blown. In the past two years, I've come across two sports stories that have completely left me dumbfounded and are the most shocking things I've heard on a sports related level in my life. 1. Penn State. 2. Te'o and his lies.

WHERE DID I COMPARE THE TWO?

and its fascinating TO ME how it can affect you so much.

i cant say for certain how i'd react because im not a parent nor do i have a sick child. but you're going to tell me that you're going to feel CHEATED or even MAD knowing that what he wrote was fake? or would you appreciate that he took out the time to send you something personal?

Put yourself in their shoes for a second. You have a sick child dealing with cancer...you reach out to Te'o and he writes back SYMPATHIZING with what you're going through because he's dealing with some of those same things.

1/16/13 - EVERYTHING is a lie.

I know I wouldn't appreciate the time he took to write a letter that was based off of a horrible lie.

DC....

imagine if Thomas Robinsons people never actually died. Its not even about him being gay.  Its about him creating a fictional person and adding that fictional person to his grandmas death.  Its just weird/sad/interesting.  That makes it news because this will effect his draft stock.
Man how in the world can you give such a crazy hypothetical example :lol

Come on Paul Pierce.

If it iwll affect his draft stock let damn Mel Kiper talk about it on NFL Live.

This affected sports because this in the mind of voters for all those awards he took home.

He was such an emotional leader because he was able to overcome the death of 2 people and have a great game, then he reached other to other parents.

dude said his gf wrote him letters before each game, some of them preaching humility....let's see him produce these letters.

incredible the web of lies he spun, if and when the truth comes out. supposedly Teo is going to talk to the media again tomorrow.

How dont you get it?

Sure, in a way it's gossip but if a story this big bothers you how do you even watch sports if you consider this unbearable gossip? Do you watch sports on mute?
There is nothing to get.

It is gossip.

Wasting air waves.

I watch sport for sport. Not all that extra personal life stuff man. No I don't watch sports on mute. All that EXTRA stuff infiltrating into sports bothers me.

That is all I am expressing here.

And folks (men) are cool with that.

THought that was for the ladies. Guess I was wrong......

Dude it's what's makes sports, its unscripted drama. Drama and gossip isn't just for ladies. I highly doubt you really beleive what you just said. Favre leaving, Bron leaving, players cheating, Tiger Woods competing with Wilt, Penn St. and now this. Those games that you simply couldn't script. Previous beef, two teams hate each other, both teams gossiping, the media gossiping, everyone's hyped, game 7 double overtime buzzer beating shot, player gets ma he lost and runs into the stands to take his anger out on the fans just swinging on whoever he sees. :lol c'mon man you know you love sports "gossip". Like I said if all that bothers you, or how they're gossiping about Lebrons super human strength every night then mute it. And if that truly is the case, then you are missing out my friend.

I get where you're coming from DC...I think. I, myself, do not envy, idolize, or care about how a lot of these high profile or professional athletes conduct themselves in their day-to-day lives. I watch them in their specific sports as simply a form of entertainment in the form of competition because I love to do so. However, this goes beyond another level and I don't think it should matter whether or not this is only on TV because he's a high profile athlete. If it hits you, it hits you.
I agree, but this guy used this story to gain sympathy from voters. This isn't a "guess who such and such is dating now" type story. This is a story about a guy who plays football at ND making up a story to push himself and his team in the spotlight. Before (and during) every ND game, this is all we heard about. Teo and his team coming together in the light of his tragedy. Dude was taking interviews and everything.

I guess if Magic came out and said he never had aids, it would be considered gossip? If Jordan's first retirement was actually a cover up for a suspension, that would also be considered gossip?

But...they "met" at a Stanford game, right?

8o

:lol Exactly. I mean at the very least it's clear to me dude is guilty of lying about some details about their relationship. How can he say he never met her in person after there's been an article where he said he met her after a Stanford game? If that's the case, I can definitely understand him lying to people to cover his *** because he's embarrassed about meeting a girl online. At the same time though, that doesn't really excuse it and then there are so many inexplicable questions about what he did when she supposedly died.

Dude said he was getting by through the support of "her family;" how is that the case when her family didn't even exist? Like I can understand ONE person tricking him, but where is this family of hers that was helping him cope? He said the funeral was in a certain spot but he didn't go due to football, well who told him where the funeral was if the girl was dead?

Yeah, well clearly that's a laughable defense.  Catholic authority figures just comfortably jumpin' right into the cover up.  Like these are the moments they wait for their whole lives.

On court/field/ice > personal lives. Forget all of that other stuff.

There's a huge correlation of what happens off the field to what happens on the field. Teo is no longer the same football player on that field. I could come up with an endless list of examples of how gossip off the field has effected someone on the field. Just stop dude..

Te'o said they met after a Stanford game. There is no way to construct "met" as being an online interaction.

I have a feeling..this is only the beginning of something major. I'm talking jobs within the program are gonna be at stake. Crazy

Didnt someone say Teo was smashing broads on campus though? I mean, he may very well be gay but...if he's the kind on campus, and hes not smashing any broads...i would think word woulda got around. Feel me?

All I hear from you is defending your obsession with the gossip. Carry on man.

No reason to get mad. You like what you like James.

Hopefully Brian Kelly doesn't begin to realize the only smart thing they've done in 20 years is hire him.

How you can put yourself smack dab in the middle of this when there are a million holes in this story is mind boggling.

Dc has 15 posts in a thread about something he doesn't care about...lmaooo

There's a lot of topics on nt I don't duck with and you won't find me posting in them either

:lol aight dude. Just curious, do you get this angry when people call it the "flu game" when Jordan hit that shot? Like always yell whooo careeeess that he had the fluuuuuu!!!! Do you also yell at the world when they have 30 for 30's gossiping about Magic Johnson getting HIV forcing him to never see the court again? Even though you only care about what goes on the court.
