Some of my relatives live in developing countries where violent incidents happen often, but the difference is that people are able to avoid the violence if they want to. 99% of the time, violence is directed towards people who are doing something specific.
Not saying this is right at all, but there are shootings and stabbings at political protests or over religious practices-in those countries, you can avoid getting killed if you keep your mouth closed and mind your own business. The sad part is that people from countries like that come here for the freedom to do what they want, only to risk getting shot for NO REASON while doing absolutely nothing that bothers anyone.
imagine moving 8000+ miles across the ocean to escape corrupt and authoritarian governments to live your life in peace and quiet, and then you get murdered while working a late shift, going out for groceries, watching a movie, etc.

Imagine if the media reported stabbings like they did shootings. Cats in here would want a global ban on D2 steel... its like they dont know human beings were still vile and awful to one another before the advent of gunpowder. First time a child gets their head or a limb lopped off the bans on machetes and swords will begin.
