Mass Shooting Thread: Waiting on the next one.

The M1 garand and og kaloshnikov have wood stocks. Both are still deadly to this day. M1 though is a semi. Regardless, they are deadly. Civilians shouldn't be even allowed to carry frearms unless the need for it is really a necessity. Most often, gun ownership is mostly for bragging and irresponsible use.

What I was meaning is a normal person who doesn’t know firearms see’s a gun like the one I posted and doesn’t think it’s as deadly as the other one in the pic when in reality they both are essentially the same thing with one being dressed up. Going off of his question of people saying one is less deadly

*This is not my opinion on rifles, just trying to explain what you asked*

It’s semantics. Assault rifles are fully automatic and in fact aren’t sold to the public (unless you have a certain license as a dealer). The AR doesn’t stand for assault rifle, it stands for Armalite Rifle. Assault rifle is what everyone refers to any rifle as even though it’s technically not the same thing (nor even close). As for the not being as bad as people think, a rifle is a rifle. Obviously there are different calibers but the ones we are seeing in these mass shootings are dressed up and black with a 30 round magazine opposed to a regular wood grain one which is the same thing. A rifle is dangerous no matter what. Here’s a pic showing what I mean

The one on the bottom can hold 30?

I understand. I was just reinforcing your statement and example that looks can be deceiving. If you look at the M1 Garand, it looks like a fossil but that thing could kill multiple people with ready ammunition. I believe it is still still registered as a restricted firearm.

That's not an AR, that's a CAR, no?

But speaking of semantics.

Let's be fair to journalists, we can't expect them to geek out whether an assault rifle, a select-fire rifle with a detachable magazine is a Colt, Armelite, H&K, Sig Sauer or Knights Armament product. When media warns about a mass shooter with an AR-15 style assault rifle, none of us care about the barrel length or the production company. We care about the victims. Fact is AR-15 style has simply become the kleenex of assault rifles. It's difficult for anyone to distinguish between an assault rifle, submachinegun, carbine, AR-pistol or NRA's preferred term Modern Sporting Rifle.

It's depicted without a magazine to look more harmless. As depicted it can hold a single round in the chamber. But it does accept 10-20-30 round magazines.

Once you mod it a little bit, the difference kinda diminish.

Yeah, it’s all just a magazine that you put in it. That what I was getting at how one looks “harmless” like a grandpa gun and the other doesn’t even though both have the same capability

Oh I don’t expect them to differentiate all that, nor does it matter at the end of the day. Was explaining to him based off his question

So if they are as y’all say the same gun, why are the lunatics choosing the AR-15s the weapon of choice?

Was in Vegas last week. We were on our way to the Cosmo when we caught word from a friend that there was a shooting at the MGM. Our Uber driver at the time was on the phone and then the person he was talking to (seemed like family) said there was also a shooting at the Flamingo.

Here’s vids of MGM i found on twitter. not sure if there were any casualties.

Cops shut down part of the strip and traffic was crazy around MGM at the time.

They’re inexpensive and they look more menacing than the other ones. Plus it’s the most popular rifle out there at the moment

it turned out to be some crazy throwing rocks and shattering a glass door at the casino

loud AF suspicious sound in a crowded place, I'm running too

Shooting in San Pedro at a park. Yes, it was a car show but families take their kids to parks. SMH.

Can’t even go to the park free of anxiety anymore

I went to elementary school right next to this park, it's huge. Gonna speculate and say it's gang related or just two random groups getting into it over nonsense.

Two dead, RIP :(

Visiting family overseas, and I’m reminded how much safer they are even when they live in countries with struggling economies

“Don’t get a hotel in ____ neighborhood, it’s dangerous” and when you ask them what the danger is, it’s “there’s some gangs of pickpockets there and you can hear drunk people arguing late at night”

I also want to be able to live a life where my biggest worry is having some of my easily replaceable @&$@ stolen

Meanwhile my reality is that no matter where I am in public in the US, whenever I hear someone raising his voice/arguing, my girl and I immediately leave the vicinity so that we don’t get hit with stray bullets

Word. These group of people were getting into it outside Capital Arena in DC the other night. Talking bout “I ain’t the one”. Back in the day you’d normally try to see a fight going down but now I was naw let’s roll before it really pops off. People pull out guns over anything.

Just saw the story of the family shot and killed while camping. Another camper dressed in all black entered lheir tent and shot the parents and 6 year old daughter. The son somehow was able to run away. They found the killer's body in the woods, coward shot himself.

no thanks to these bastards ruining my family vacation plan outdoors.

I def wouldn't be drinking water handed to me by a parent of one of the deceased children either IJS. That was a hit.
