MAX | Out Now |

Movie was pretty good.

Dumb writing choice to make up a whole new character be the focus and his power was lame AF. Just some gold under armour shirt and weapons. Should’ve just made the focus on scorpion or an already existing character like johnny cage.
If whoever makes the MK game was smart they would've had a whole rollout for a new Mortal Kombat origins game that coincided with debuting this new character.

And if the creators of MK were more involved this new character would actually be cool.

but what's the fun in that. I think people are wrong in assuming Liu Kang is the main character in MK, subzero and scorpion are. Either way I think this movie is a great set up for everyone's story getting told.

i mean if you like this cole fellah then i dont know how you can argue that making liu kang the main would take away any further story from subzero and scorpion, there was a lack of screentime and they didnt dive much into coles relation, hell when they saw each other in the end it was like "ooookkkkk...." from cole, it meant nothing to the overall story and wasted

making liu kang the main protagonist with the same side story and be the main picture for those two would have worked better, cole was the worst character in the whole movie

Killer instinct doesn’t have the lore of Mortal Kombat. MK is a great license. You could copy the OG trilogy, make a movie on ninjas, make a wacky movie on cyber ninjas, do an interpretation of MK9 or the last one.

Kano was awesome. The fight scenes were good-great. The thing missing was character development. Kano was really the only fully developed, interesting character.

Cole was definitely random and didn’t really add anything except as a mechanism to explain what was happening to the viewer. It could have easily been Liu Kang. Also the random relationship between Scorpion and Cole.

Also the random relationship between Scorpion and Cole.

i dont know why he doesnt care, raiden gives him the damn dagger that his great-great ancestor and gave no damn, like if they were gon' make that the central part of the story (enough to make a new character for it) then make them care and make it a big deal, it really fell off by the wayside

I’ve played the games. Just never found the story interesting. I, admittedly, didn’t play the last KI on Xbox One.

Im not saying they can’t make a movie. They could make a movie based on Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, etc.

Storylines wise I feel like MK probably has the best story fighting game wise. Followed by Tekken and Street Fighter.

Well thats where screenwriters and movie directors do their own take of the material.

Like whoever made this MK movie thinking fans or casual viewers needed Cole put in the story

MK story was always way too dark and jokey to me with Shang Tsung to Shao Kahn with this tournament that can bring about the end of the world as we know it.

I prefer Street Fighter's story over all and I feel that evidenced with the amount of SF games there are and the amount of characters.

SF just never been given the proper treatment besides the 94 Anime Film (which influenced SFA, etc).

Im going to peep that Scorpion film.

Theyll never do an Injustice film. That would be crazy.

All in all it was okay. Cole was pretty whack but the fatalities, Kano, and Scorpion were the bright spots

4/8

Just watched the Animated MK film. They’re similar in that Scorpion takes such a prominent role. But in the animation, they stuck to the true protagonist. I think the magic is the violence, cool characters and twists.

just watched

Kano
"Is that the only move you got."
First scene with Raiden was comedy too "You don't even have a marking."
Kabal giving the lowdown on Kano:lol:
Kabal's whole demeanor seemed like a brilliant misfire:rofl:
Subzero and Scorpion were :pimp:
Also like how they played into the "dazed" state before the fatalities
Great easter eggs

Cole was essentially Jar Jar Binks to me.
They also gave this dude a family and tried to make me care:stoneface:

That was him?

Wow. I thought it was someone from his race. We haven’t even gotten to the tournament yet.
i mean i figured it was him...when he walked in on Shang Tsung he called him by Goro but it then cut to another scene.

I mean i guess it could have been another, but the way they played the story out it made it seem like
it was him.

He called him Prince Goro then sent him to run errands and pick up groceries in earth realm before the tournament. Like fam do you know I'm a warrior prince?

I really enjoyed MK! Cole was probably the worst part. There wasn’t much of a story, and you know what? That’s fine with me. These type of movies suck when the writers try to make a new/interesting story, at the expense of what most of us want: the nostalgia. And that’s what this movie nailed, big time. I actually clapped two or three times during the movie. It felt like the writers actually played and appreciated the video game.

MK was decent. Definitely hit all the nostalgia points. The fatalities were legit. I enjoyed it.

So there’s not going to be a tournament movie?

Why Goro gets jobbed in these movies?

And Cole...beats the champion before the tournament? They also got rid of Sub Zero? Smh.

tourneys gon’ be in the sequel, the writers already talking about a trilogy but its not greenlit yet

sub-zeros been resurrected before and by raiden iirc but no reason for shang tsung not be able to find a way to do it, im sure the writers got that covered

subzero is also part of a clan and while i believe the movie version was the og (bi han?) others have taken the subzero mantle which included his brother i think

kung lao should have stayed alive though, preferred they delved deeper with him and liu kangs ties and lore

yeah bi han the og sub zero, he comes back as noob saibot and his brother becomes sub zero.

Shang Tsung trying to cheat before the tourney was brilliant to me and is a very Shang Tsung move. He sent Goro because homie was the focus of the “prophecy”.
