Miley Cyrus Vol. Trying to hard!

What's up with her tongue? Is it some sort of illness? Makes her look more thirsty then everyone on NT combined. JB needs to pass her some of that water

If you don't see it as a modern day minstrel then to each his own. Jody Rosen's article was on point and there was an article from Jezebel that was saying the same thing but in greater detail. This is the same person who had no idea who Jay-Z was when Party in the USA came out, but now she's into hood music and popping her non-existent *** everywhere she goes? Its not a coincidence that she's taken upon the ratchet persona (associated with women of color) to rebel against her former image. Guys like Mike Will aren't helping by standing by while she does this. Hip hop and black culture itself is so accepting that at times they can't realize when the jig is going on. For those who want it dumbed down, its like the white woman in college who has a curiosity about sex with black men. She won't be seen with you in public and will delete every picture she has with you in it on social networks, but won't hesitate to call you at 2-3 in the morning to see if she can get some pipe.

I still don't see how this is a modern minstrel show. I think dudes need to revisit history a little bit before jumping to that conclusion.

A minstrel show was a satire on black mannerisms and slave culture, it was mockery to the fullest extant, often performed by whites in black face. The Miley Cyrus performance on MTV was not that, and the article is full of racist undertones imo.

I don't get the jig, because hip hop is accepting of talented white rappers such as Em, who just happens to be better than a lot of black rappers. The culture threw Vanilla Ice out as soon as he tried his hand at rap, he did not last long at all.

The white women in college analogy is not a universal standard by any means, and I've seen plenty of interracial couples out and about.

Not even. Tired of some people trying to frame her actions into the historical framework of minstrelsy.

Dudes are way too sensitive about every little thing now; I usually never hear that about white artist who dabble with music typically performed by black musicians.

The problem is Miley was once perceived to be a wholesome child star from Disney, and she had an enormous influence on many young white children who grew up watching her shows/movies.

Now she's ventured down a path that is not aligned with the interest of white America.
You my mans(not even going to go into a back and forth with buddy that answered before you or I know I definately will get banned)
But come on that was some pure Al Jolson stuff she pulled and I definately not letting Robin Thicke off the hook with this.. This chick has done every stereotype of not only black culture but hip hop in general... Em even address that he wouldn't have gone diamond if he had "brown eyes and dark skin"...
It's not even about being sensitive or owning as some say what is black culture but as soon as white America catches on to something it's acceptable but when a black or brown person does it, it's degrading.... C'mon Son, that whole show was indictive of how we don't even have good, true r and b acts that are black anymore. Also you telling me that clown Macklemore(Vanilla ice 2013) is conscious and deserved an award for that trash and thrift shop...but we accept it and ride for when this type of music and think its harmless... Look how Justin threw Janet under the bus but somehow his career flourishes and that fine sista never had a career since... Sorry but the VMAS was straight basura and a complete Minstrel"bamboozled" show...
Flame suit equipped to War Machine with homing missiles( yea I ride for the black comic heroes, lol)

Remember a few years ago when everyone was talking about the hideous weird outfits that Gaga was wearing? It was one of the things that set her apart, way apart, from other talented artists out there. The meat outfit had peta up in arms. No one is talking about her now, although she gave a solid performance that night.

Now remember back 25 years ago when Madonna was doing outrageous things. Everyone was talking, parents were disgusted, the church was up in arms. Her career skyrocketed. Somehow, all anyone is talking about is Miley. Negative publicity sells, sex sells, doing outrageous things society frowns upon sells. The kids love that she is rebelling. They will buy her stuff. So who is the smart one? I can't help but remember that these comments are echoes of my own parents comments 25 years ago, and probably their parents comments when Elvis was shaking his hips in a sexual manner but the kids were eating it up.

That performance was not a minstrel show, because Miley is that way on or off camera. Those who partook in Minstrel shows were doing it in a setting for laughs, as an entertainment piece that lampooned those tangled in the web of slavery and the after effects of being conditioned as a slave.

So once a person finished their role of performing in black face, they reverted back to being a white person not the least affected by black codes, Jim Crow, segregation, etc.

That's like the book 40 million dollar slaves, when the guy tried to paint a picture of powerless black athletes, but when he compared millionaire athletes to actual slaves it almost becomes a moot point in my eyes.

The comparison is not valid.

I'm not going to argue against sex and shock selling.

However what Gaga was doing was unique.  What Madonna was doing was unique. They pushed the boundries and both have/had way more talent than Miley ever did.

Miley is just flat out wilding right now.

well everyone in the world is thrashing Miley Cyrus for that perfomance along with Robin Thicke for allowing Miley to grind on him

not really getting your point here @M81

they allowed this, with really no backlash behind it

ol girl got no booty tho. She made a right angle when she bent over.

I still would eat tho. I like that tongue.

What network was this on? That's why :lol

If Miley wasn't a popstar would pass her up on the street and wouldn't bother with a second look.

Hell yeah.

It doesn't look right when a girl is twerkin and she has all bone back there. You just wanna tell her "Sit the **** down"

She seems like one those white girls that's going through that "I'm doing everything my parents told me not to do" phase.

Shes what 21 now yall can chill on all the rebelling against her parents crap, its all for the fame.

Madonna wasnt poppin like that until she got some cone ******* and humped a mtv stage. Britney had fallen off she had to make out with The old hag Madonna to get her spark back, Xtina, Rhianna, Nicki, Gaga they all did/do the shock and awe **** to keep their names in the public to keep that buzz going... nothing deeper or more sinister behind it :rolleyes

I kinda understand the minstrel show angle being brought up. Never thought of it like that, but I kinda see it now.

billboard awards

Wait, that was from the Billboard Awards? Completely slipped my mind, I was thinking last years BET Awards for some reason. Hmmmm...maybe an uproar was caused cause Miley is "pure and innocent" and isn't "in her character", and nothing was made of Nicki Minaj and Wayne cause "that's what's expected of them."

She has a cute little white girl butt, it works with her frame. I'd obliterate.
