The Yankees acquired Jerry Hairston Jr. from the Reds, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

But the kid is just now breaking back into pro ball and he's working in 2 or 3 inning spurts right now...
You have to take it slow. Anyway, we're playing for 2011 and on, so that doesn't concern me at all.

Starter or reliever, it doesn't matter; I just want power arms on this team to mix in with the Aaron Laffey's and David Huff's.

Interesting...

Hairston is a righty batter who plays all over and ios [sic] hitting .254 this year with eight homers.
I guess he is a temporary measure to play the outfield in the absence of Brett Gardner?

Most people think that this spells the end of the Cody Ransom era...Cody is a great person (survived a horrific car accident years ago) but his many errors inthe field exposed him for being a career minor-leaguer...
