Moments That Made You Realize You’re Washed

Got my girl one of these for when I wasn't around after she was in an accident. I be using it.

I thought I was the only one on that one trip grocery grind

Thats just ingrained in me. There was a whole science to it; distributing the weight evenly, making sure the bread wasn't getting squished up in the same hand carrying the juice and gallon tide, etc.

The fact that my students have almost no meaningful memories of the great recession or Obama's first term or even Obama's reelection. Obviously, 9/11 is outside of their memory same with Enron or the dotcom bubble or the Clinton impeachment or the Iraq War starting. For my brighter, more intellectually curious students, they've read about his stuff but for them it's history, albeit recent history but not stuff they saw on the news.

Its kind of similar to how some of us have little to no memory of Reagan's assassination attempt, Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back, etc.

But yeah I probably couldnt be around kids that dont recall the Bush administration :lol

Well, I teach them intro to economics and I can't blame an 18 or 19 year old in 2019 for not having visceral memories of 2000's events. I think back to my professors, when I was an undergrad, and they'd say, without any irony, remember Watergate?, then they'd stop and quickly explain it to those of us born in the mid 1980's.

Luckily, what I teach is pretty universal whether you're a socialist or a monarchist, whether born in 1880 or 2000, the demand curve always sloops downward. But econ does intersect with current events and recent events and when I use an example of anything from five or more years ago I stop and say "you may or may not remember x, if not I'll briefly explain x and continue."

I'll feel super washed in 20 more years when, I'll have to explain election night 2016, POkemon Go and Chapo Trap House to my own kids and to my grad students that I'll be teaching then.

Thought I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder...it’s been 2.5 weeks and my whole arm hurts and also goes numb when I cough. I have no idea how this happened I just woke up one day it started. I need to go to the doctor. #Washed
