or try putting him to work out. get him a membership to local gyms so he can feel better about himself. self confidence is the key to women. get him to run/lift weights or even sports. girls love guys with glasses. if you pull it off right, that nerdy/trendy look can give you ({}). post pics of him (pause) so we as in NT can help this guy turn his life around. guide him what to wear, what to work on and so on.

Yeah, the kid is tripping. There are fat slobs who have it WAY worse than this dude in the looks department. He really does have confidence issues... but if he's been stuck inside as much as you said, his mind could already be a little lopsided. You may need to go the professional route (psychologist) in order to really help him in the long run, along with taking him out and introducing him to people like Pharaoh suggested. I mean... you get sad when you're lonely, but you don't usually want to kill yourself. He may not be strong enough to fully bring himself out of that kind of mental incapacity without some serious help.

Based on his music tastes it seems like he's into disney channel/teen-nick type stuff and there's nothing wrong with that. He actually sounds like about 80% of the girls who are in my bible study group, which sounds perfect for him (idk if he's religious or not...) They love the same music, not into smoking/drinking, but a good chunk will still give up the yambs. Tell him to join one in college and he'll have an endless supply. I think I know the perfect chick for him...but not anywhere near NYC doe.

I used to TD chess tournaments in NYC. From the pic you posted, I've never seen him before.

You should just take him to a party. Give him a few drinks and introduce him to some girls and let him take it from there.

I think his issue is not feeling that he fits into society and he doesn't have the proper social skills to really function. The good news is he is only 17 and its summer. Anyway let's hope that deep down inside this kid is really just a reclusive genius because you could have a potential rapist/serial killer brewing over there and he might take your butt or life first.......... no pressure.

Dude, I don't think he wants to off himself because of lack of buns. Hiring a pro will do him no good. You have to make it so that he feels like he can get the yambs by himself. Not just that, also that he can be comfortable in a social setting. I've dealt with a lot of anxiety throughout my life, so I kind of know what he's going through. The main thing is that eventually he's comfortable with himself.
