NBA Draft Thread 2011

Cavs must really love Derrick Williams

I'd much rather take Valanciunas or Kanter @ the 4 than make the deal and take on Rip

Irving and Williams are high caliber picks regardless.

They already got Hickson though and he's improved the past year. Then they got those other two guys coming off the bench that aren't bad defensively.

Taking Rip doesn't make sense to me when you got Baron's contract already but it may take a few years before they move both of them save that amnesty rule.

Might be thinking ahead... Get the best young guys you can get now, take on Rip since you're not gonna get under the cap anyhow, and just be ready to really unload down the line when those two contracts come up.

Regardless of draft class, if they can pull off a move where they land the #1 and #2 - that's huge.

this. the cavs most likely wont be any good next year either, but this sets them up for the future big time. 2011<2012 draft class

Kind of funny that the consensus comparison for Williams is a more athletic David West, some think Irving could be a Chris Paul-type, and they might be playing together.

1. Regardless of what college player declared for the draft, irving and dwill would still be #1 and #2. so great move by the cavs if this goes through.
2. After the first few picks this is a very good draft for solid role players, so i dunno why people keep saying this draft sucks. Almost every draft is weak except for the 2003 draft.

And I'd be surprised if either came close to the guy they are compared too

Irving-Mo-Rip-Williams-Hickson

Not a lick of defense will be played, but at least they'll put butts in the seat.

I can see the Pistons giving up Prince to Minny instead of the #8 pick. I can see that happening as well. They need a legit veteran that can bring the team together.
