Sixers-Warriors is a very interesting matchup to me. Both teams like to run in transition, both have multiple guys that can run the break, both teams are near the top of the league in assists, and both have all star play makers that can’t shoot.
Sixers at their apex make life difficult for the dubs. If Embiid puts the chick fil a aside for two weeks and actually shows up, the dubs have a major headache. Offensively there’s no one who can guard him one on one without fouling him so foul trouble is a real threat. Embiid was 10/12 from the line in his only game against the dubs this year and as a team we were 19/24. Free throw battle would be pivotal. If the double comes Embiid has to be smart enough to find the open man. If it’s Ben, he needs to go hard to the basket and make the warriors make a play on the ball OR Ben has to anticipate they’re going to leave him and set a pick to get someone else open quick enough for a shot.
Defensively there’s no one to stretch Embiid away from the paint so attacking the rim is an issue as well. Putting Embiid in the high PnR with dray and curry is an issue. Butler would just have to fight over that as Embiid stays home and you take your chances.
We would have a major advantage on the glass as well.
I have questions about our ability to collectively show up consistency but if we could manage the turnovers, get to the line consistently, and dominate the glass it would be a fun series.
I say all that still not expecting to win that series and wouldn’t have a problem seeing the Bucks matchup against them either. I’m honestly happy to just get this game 7 on Sunday.
If we get past the Raptors it’s smooth sailing the rest of the way for Embiid and he knows it. He’s killed the Bucks and Warriors, they have no one to stop him. Ben hasn’t done a great job scoring the ball vs the Bucks but he’s also killed the Warriors every time they’ve played.
Ben is averaging 22-10-9 in the four games he’s played the Warriors and is shooting 73% from the field in the last three games he’s played them.
We beat the Warriors the first game we played this year by 9 at their place and lost by 3 with no Embiid the second game in Philly.
Embiid is also averaging 35-16-8 against the Bucks this year and always makes sure to trash them since their GM tweeted out a couple years ago that he’s “not about #TheProcess, I’m about #TheResults”...whether people on here like the Sixers or not them vs the Bucks and Warriors are the series that fans should be hoping for with the personalities and talents involved.
