I think it will be good for the Raptors to have a guy like that come off the bench. GM of the year for a move like that? No not quite, but it's a positive move.
me too, I've always liked Jarrett's game. very athletic and very quick. Anyways, I think it's a great pickup for the Raps too.

Remember...GM of The Year is usually based on an win difference from last year. The Raps didnt fare too well last year, but they can get 45-50 wins this yearpending injuries and how the coaches do. This team is much better than last year's team.

Jarret Jack... again

Wow, all Blazer fans were glad the day he got traded... And Colangelo can be called "GM OTY" if you consider OVERPAYING for Hedo a good thing. I thought Portland was going to vastly overpay him, I was so excited when Toronto offered a higher paying contract and he accepted. I thought his signng was going to be the biggest mistake Portland has made since signing Zbo to his ridiculous deal...

Can't wait to watch those Raptors steal the 7th seed in the East with a below .500 team

If Paul Milsap becomes a Blazer, LaMarcus Aldrige will lose his starting gig. Paul Milsap is what the Blazers need. A low post scoring threat. That'sdefinitely a good look. I like LMA, but he loves his outside jumper too much.

Jazz Still Trying To Deal Boozer

Jul 12, 2009 10:38 AM EST

A three-team deal that would have sent Carlos Boozer to Chicago appears dead, but Utah is still talking to clubs about the forward.

The Jazz are talking to "multiple teams," according to the Deseret News. Conversations have reportedly increased as Utah attempts to shed salary sothat they can afford to match the offer sheet Paul Millsap signed with the Blazers.

Chicago, Miami, Detroit and New York all remain potential landing spots for Boozer, according to the Deseret News.

"There's a lot, obviously, and for all the right reasons," general manager Kevin O'Connor said when asked about how many conversationshe's had in recent days. "They look at us and say, 'Maybe we can get so-and-so, maybe we can get so-and-so.' We're listening, and talkingto everybody. There's a frenzy right now about it, and I think it will slow down a little bit."

The team would not address a rumor that Boozer has requested a trade.

"I don't want to go there. That's not fair to Carlos, and that's not fair to us," O'Connor added. "But what I would say is thatthose two (Boozer and Millsap) have played together last year and the year before, and played fairly well together."

Reports: Spanish Teams Trying To Sign Rubio
Jul 11, 2009 5:04 PM EST

Two teams from Spain's top ACB league are trying to negotiate a buyout with DKV Joventut so they can sign Ricky Rubio, according to reports in the Spanishmedia.

Real Madrid and Unicaja Malaga are the two clubs that reportedly have interest.

Madrid is more notable, but Unicaja appears to have an edge because of coach "Aito" Garcia Reneses, who coached Rubio at Joventut.

Unicaja reportedly wants a three-year commitment from Rubio, while Madrid is willing to let the guard jump to the NBA after two seasons.

Gallinari Healthier & Bulkier
Jul 12, 2009 11:19 AM EST

After back surgery in April, Danilo Gallinari is running again with "minimal pain" which is expected to be gone by training camp.

Howard Beck of the New York Times reports from Las Vegas that Gallinari "has a hop in his step, and his 3-point stroke is as fluid as ever. He even looksa little thicker in his shoulders and upper arms, a good sign for a growing young power forward."

"I feel good," Gallinari said. "Not pain-free completely, but I feel good. Nothing compared with what I was feeling when I was injured."

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni appears to have denied rumors that the team could send Chris Duhon to the 76ers for Andre Miller.

"What was that?" D'Antoni told the New York Times. "I can't believe that."

Raptors Have Interest In Delfino, Nesterovic And Kleiza
Jul 12, 2009 10:22 AM EST

The Raptors will soon sign restricted free agent Jarrett Jack to an offer sheet, but they aren't done adding to their roster yet.

Toronto has interest in bringing back Carlos Delfino and Rasho Nesterovic, who both spent time with the club in the past.

If the Pacers match the four-year, $20 million offer sheet that Jack is expected to sign, the Raptors could use the money to target Denver's Linas Kleiza.

Pacers Unlikely To Match Jack's Offer From Toronto
Jul 12, 2009 10:17 AM EST

Jarrett Jack is expected to sign an offer sheet for four years, $20 million with the Raptors on Sunday or Monday.

Because Jack is a restricted free agent the Pacers will have seven days to match Toronto's offer sheet, but it appears unlikely that they'll do so,according to sources.

Indiana wants to remain under the salary cap, and matching the offer sheet would put them close to the lowered number.

unless you're a committed raptor hater or canada hater, you cant say that colangelo hasnt done a good job this offseason. does that make him gm of theyear? season hasnt even started yet. keep in mind that until this team reaches the ECF, they will NOT be taken seriously by any viable free agent simplybecause of the geographic location of toronto and overall crappiness of the team. so colangelo is already at a disadvantage. while i didnt like the turkoglumove at first, the sign and trade with marion made me feel a lot better, simply because the depth at each position needs to be addressed. if they can signrasho and delfino, i like our depth.

I hear ya on this. Someone is going to be the odd man out. Especially hearing that there are snags in Roy's and Aldridge's contractextensions (How do you not sign Roy to a max if he wants it the second you can?), I could see LMA being the odd man out. Milsap is going to be too good to be abackup and will be getting paid too well to be one also.

eek.gif
@ Millsap getting 10.35M up front within a week after his deal finalizes.
Thats what makes this offer so "toxic" as it was called to try and get Utah to not match. That dollar for dollar tax is staring themright in the eye.

I want Lamarcus Aldridge in a Memphis jersey and Rudy out of one. Put Sam Young at the starting SF spot and you automatically have a team with better chemistrywho know their role as a starter.

Aldridge would be a nice compliment to Marc Gasol

Andre Miller meeting with the Knicks.

Speaking of the Knicks, Nate Robinson considering taking the qualifying offer from them (3 million dollars).

Wow.

Apparently, the Pistons turned down Boozer-Prince exchange.

That's a hell of a deal to pass up on..

I love Prince, and Boozer plays crappy D, but him in Detroit would be interesting.
Amar'e Stoudemire Could Be Heading to the Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets made a blockbuster about three games into the regular season last year. I sort of expected the same in the offseason. Currently they have not made any major moves to help their championship run.

A person close to the Nuggets have told me that there are currently some small whispers going around between the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets. Those talks have been reportedly about bringing Amar'e Stoudemire to the Mile-High City.

Although it is still being talked about, this is the NBA, where, in Kevin Garnett's words, "Anything is Possible," and also where "Amazing Happens."

Amar'e has been shopped by the Suns since around the trade deadline, and he has also stressed his displeasure with Suns management. The Suns are currently in rebuilding mode, yet they go out and re-sign Grant Hill. The guy is 36 and will be 37 when the season starts.

The current proposed trade would be:

Nuggets Get

Amar'e Stoudemire

Suns Get

Kenyon Martin

Linas Kleiza

Future Draft Pick

Cash Considerations

Kenyon Martin will probably opt out of his contract 2010 giving the Suns $15 million in cap space. Linas Kleiza is also a young forward who would fit into the Suns rebuilding process.

However, it doesn't seem to make the Nuggets any better, but it would make them worse on the defensive end.

Kenyon Martin is a better defender then Amar'e at the four spot. He is more physical and isn't afraid to make a statement. Ask Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki. He shoved Dirk Down in game one of the second round.

Denver has already lost Dhantay Jones, a defensive specialist, and losing Martin, another great defender that doesn't take away from Carmelo's and Billups shots would hurt the team.

Sure Amar'e would be a force, but it's too good to be true. Every plan has it's flaws. Amar'e, Carmelo, JR Smith and Billups have that scoring mentality and at times take over games. Nene can come up with 20 on any given night as well.

Having the majority of your starting lineup being offensive threats and no defense isn't going to win you a championship. However, Billups would be able to level out Amar'e and control a starting line up of Billups, Smith, Melo, Amar'e and Nene.

JR has proved that he deserves to start, but I don't think it should be the case. The Nuggets gave up a key part in their bench, Linas Kleiza and the bench is already weak enough.

Ty Lawson, Chris Andersen and Renaldo Balkmen would be the first three to come off. Arron Afflalo is rumored to be heading to the Nuggets so he would take that Shooting Guard position.

Afflalo should start, and let JR continue to ignite the bench.

Overall this deal should no go down as it may look good on paper, but it won't work out during the regular season. Again talks are small but they can heat up quite fast.
