NBA Off-Season News Thread: Roy extends 80/5, AI to Grizz, Chandler/Okafor swap, Marquis to C's.

give him a player option and then have the team hanging on pines and needles like bron, wade and bosh are doing there teams this year?

so the hold up is blazers offering a 4 year deal and roy wanting 5 with the 5th year been his option
grin.gif
not that big of a deal

I read the Blazers don't want to pay him because he can be signed cheaper long term next year.

Next year the cap drops, and a max offer is cheaper, and they have the right to match any offer anyway.

Basiaclly, yes, he wants the same deal Bron and co got, and the Blazers are balking. I wonder if LaMarcus would want the same deal (but less money of course)with the 5th year player option, so his future would basically be tied into Roy's.
I think the Blazers are trying to not get themselves in a spot like the Cavs are now where they have to cater to every whim Brandon has. That's just howit goes though, players league.

Roulette with a franchise player sound like fun to you?

Another team swoops in, offers the farm to Roy, poison pill and all that nonsense, it won't be cheaper at all for the Blazers, and it's a helluvadangerous game. And we ain't even speak on what it would do to the relationship Roy has with managment. He'd be furious being treated like that.

So, what do the Heat plan on doing with that guy they picked no.2 overall last season? I'm pretty sure they don't want him playing the 3 on a consistent basis. Will they ever give him a chance to become a full-time starter or a 6th man?
I pray to god Mike gets put into a better situation. It'll be best for him. I hope he gets sent to some city where all he can focus on isbasketball and he'll make people look silly for doubting. I hate how Riley/Whatever the coach name is jerked him last year (pause). Send him to Milwaukee,Toronto, OKC, or Utah or some !*#+ city like those.

Yeah that's why they're at odds.

Roy doesn't wanna get jerked around and the Blazers rather put it off until next year.

Strained relationship, lost money, just not a good look all around

i forgot about bum $!% o'neal

but since he would be hurt for half the season my statement holds true

BangDak is exactly right. I liked what couch did w/Beas. Made him crowl before he walked. Plus if you remember, Mike was playing better D in the 2ndhalf of the season. For the mins he got, he had a good yr.

Beas is being trained @ the 3 this off-season and from the video of him training, his footwork is looking good. He's gonna have his ups and downsbut I believe he'll make it.

Which is why he needs to be put alongside a defensive big man. This guy is too good to be coming off the bench. It's an insult IMO. I don't know whyyoung players have to do everything right within' their first or second year in the league.

The guy showed a lack of effort on defense, but that doesn't mean he will improve. Miami just isn't the right situation for him like I'm Not Yousaid. He needs to go to a city with less distractions and a chance for him to get a starting role at PF. Everytime I look around the Heat are looking to addBoozer, Bosh, etc. so its obvious they aren't looking at Beasley being a long term option at PF.

If Riley really trusts him at 3 spot, then I would like to see him there. I honestly don't see it working out. But, I do want to see him succeed.

RANDOM QUESTION

for the ESPY's if LAKERS win best team or something like that does Trevor go up with them or do we just get like Kobe, Pau, Fish and Sasha?

Could Big Ben Return To Detroit?

The Pistons are expected to explore the possibility of bringing Ben Wallace back to Detroit.
They are in need of a relatively inexpensive big man, and Wallace just had his lucrative contract bought out by the Suns.

Detroit has $3.5 million left to spend on free agents.

Glen Davis is an option as well, but the Pistons are worried about his restricted free agent status.

This would be cool to see again. Too bad he can't wear #3 because of Stuckey.

beasley will do fine... the heat knew that he has no problem scoring... so they made him work on his defense being a undersized PF... i reallydont think that beasley is gonna play SF... wade and zo said he is still slow footed... wade said he would need to bust his %+! to become a SF and zo said heshould just bulk up and use his quckness as his advantage over other PF.. the heat are looking at boozer because of the 1 year contract and maybe that willmake wade stay... if we can land bosh.. i can probably bet that he will play center after J.O. is gone... what in the hell are we gonna do with anotherSF???.... never paid attention to c.j miles... but we already have moon/wright/diawara..

see, the heat fans get it. trust me, they know more then me and you combined

riley did a good job with that situation. mike was never unhappy, maybe except when he was first benched, but he learned that his PT had to be earned, and itwouldn't be "given" to him, and he did a great job earning it. he proved that he had potential, and that he'll shape up to be a great comboforward, IMO.

How many young starting caliber centers are there in the league making under 6 mill a year?
You realize we have a 7-9 million dollar trade exception that we can use in trades.
For instance, we could send the trade exception to Houston and get Battier back, and then send Gortat in that deal.
You can't trade exceptions with players... So no, you couldn't do that for Battier...

So what you'll get for Gortat is somebody on a mid-level deal or a little more... Nothing special.

you're right, but we could trade the exception for Battier
And then Gortat for another trade exception, so in essence its Gortat for Battier.
It can be done
