NBA Off-Season News Thread: Roy extends 80/5, AI to Grizz, Chandler/Okafor swap, Marquis to C's.

Yea, that was Heisley's way of bringing in a PF that will be the best PF on our roster in terms of skill without going long term and hurtingthe teams cap situation. Plus, 30% of Randolph's contract is deferred meaning they will only have to pay him around 11.2 mil this season instead of the 16mil he's owed. He can wait and pay the rest of that 30% later, but I don't know how long he can wait.

It was a smart move businesswise, but the jury is still out on whether or not Randolph will demolish the entire team. I just don't get why people say hewill hurt players development when its clear that no one could actually name a player who he has hurt long term. Roy did fine after he left, Gordon willprobably continue to be a good player as well. It just depends on that player's discipline and not being influenced by another guys action. And I can betany kinda money that the Clippers wouldn't have traded him away this summer if they didn't get the no.1 pick. I was looking at some Clipper boards andhalf of them didn't really want Z-Bo to leave.

Now all Portland needs is a decent PG which they should be able to get with the jam of SFs they have now and they'll be top 3 in the West next year:

PG-Blake
SG-Roy
SF-Turk
PF-Lamarcus
C-Benjamin Button

looks like a pretty good squad to me

If Rudy wants to leave come to LA for Sasha and a box of Wheat Thins

Rudy > Gallo

But since the Knicks drafted him, I'm sure they are looking at Gallo as having better potential than Rudy.

They play such similar styles that the Knicks would have to know for sure that Gallo's back is done before pulling the trigger on acquiring Rudy.

Rudy in NY would be dope. But I don't see it happening b/c of Danilo.

Portland downgraded in their starting lineup in terms of defense. Hopefully they can bring in a defensive point who can distribute since they haveplenty of shooting from Roy and Turk. Aldridge is also a liability defensively.

rasheed meets with the spurs next week

can u imagine

Sheed

Jefferson
Ginobili

Ska, you're right in your thinking. That's been the rumblings from Rudy about Turk. He wants minutes. He feels like because he had to help pay hisinitial buyout, he's entitled for mins or something. He has talked about going overseas.

The Bulls did offer Gordon 50/5 though, he chose to turn it down. He was fortunate to have a big playoff series that he parlayed to 5/55. He must spite Chicagothough because reports are him and his agent didn't even tell Chicago of the 5/55 from Detroit, giving them a chance to think about matching.

The Rockets don't really have any money to throw at anybody anymore this year. Maybe vet minimum or sign and trade for Zaza? They might go after Obertotoo. IMO just tank next season. It's a lost cause.

It has nothing to do with danillo. Gallinari's back is supposedly at 100% now. Chandler will start at SG and Gallinari at SF. Rudy would becoming off the bench and can play either SG or SF. He'd be a great fit, but either way gallinari is starting at SF and will get more minutes than rudy (ifwe get him)

Potentially a sick lineup, but Boston did put the full court press on Sheed earlier flying out the PGA tour, Doc, and Ainge to Sheed's crib. Now if the Celtics get him, it's pretty much a wrap for the East next year unless Ainge is still hellbent on trading Rondo.

Sheed
KG
Paulina
Ray
Rondo

Perk
Big Baby

IMO trumps that Spurs lineup

So the Bulls offered him a contract of FIFTY YEARS FOR $5MIL and the Pistons offered him a contract of FIVE YEARS FOR $55MIL?! Damn, no wonder heheaded to Motown.

More power to Portland if they wanted the guy and they got him, can't knock them for that. I'm 50/50 (no pun intended) on how much they gave him, butif Turk shows up like he did in ORL last year, you can guarantee this team will get past the first round.

On a side note, I've just read two articles saying players have been skeptical to join the Cavs because they're unsure if LeBron will stay next summer. What a %@$*@*$ idiot.

Sheed would be coming off the bench more than likely.

For some reason, I have it in my mind that Rudy had a stance of 'If Turkoglu shows up here in Potland, I'm going back to Spain.'

I don't know if that's in my mind because of something I read it on here or heard it on ESPN or made it up or what, but that's where I thought his mind was.

Hmmm would that mean the European team that signs him would have to buy-out his contract from the Blazers

Yeah that was expected. Turk would have stayed, or they would have made an agreement immediately if Turk was going to take a lower offer fromOrlando.

I dont think he will start if he goes to the Celtics, that will just cause a problem with Perk in the locker room.

I disagree. Their starting lineup will be about the same.

TP > Rondo
Ginobili > Ray
Jefferson < Pierce
TD = KG
Sheed for both teams

The bench is what separates both team. I'm guessing Ginobili will be coming off the bench but for argument sake I put him in the starting lineup. BigBaby may not return if he finds a better deal else where. Spurs have Mason, Finley, Booner and Blair at the moment. So it's really a toss up but I thinkSheed will be a better fit with the Spurs.

I'm not a fan of that either considering that next year's draft class doesn't look like a strong one and its not a sure thing thatwe'll end up with the #1 pick, I don't think this team sucks THAT bad anyway. We have a few pieces to work with and we make a push for the #8 in thewest. And it's yet to be see what Morey will do with T-Mac, I think he'll wait and trade him at the trade deadline for Chris Bosh, that's at leastone of the rumors I've been hearing. Right now the Raptors are asking for an arm and a leg so they'll probably put their asking price down once theyknow they won't be able to get much for Bosh as they'd hope. It's either that or they just let him walk without getting anything in return.

I'd also be interested in getting Rudy or Travis from Portland considering that there is now log jam at that 2/3 position in Portland. I'd especiallylike to get Rudy and to see what he can do with starter's minutes, this dude can ball but Nate for whatever reason didn't use him enough.

It isn't the bleak for the Rocket's, I can deal with one bad year, albeit it's been a really bad year so far.

Rockets are in rebuild mode. If Morey thought we could compete, he'd resign Artest. He didn't even offer Gortat the full MLE and we need a C, period.Instead, he went and locked up Trevor at 24 for 5 years. Shane's protege, eventual replacement.

No Yao, no TMac. 8th seed is pointless. We'd just get knocked out by the Lakers. And we won't have a lottery pick. The whole point of the lottery pickis to get a young talent or use it in trade scenarios.

Next year is gonna be rough regardless, but there's light. TMac's contract comes off the books. Land a big time FA. Yao and Battier come off in 2011.Land another big time FA or two. Then you'd have Ariza in his prime.

If the grizz pick up Iverson i'm going to be heated

. That team would have zero chemistry. They would only pass the ball about 10 times a game.Wallace traded for Z-bo, so I guess anything is possible.
