NBC's Community Thread - 6/2 - Ep. 13: "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"

The do the right thing joke had me. And brittas costume

There's something off with this episode. The first ep was good. This is just... Off. Too on the nose. The humor is different. I just, I dunno. Don't see much ambition. I did like the boxing gloves tough it was nice

Nice to see gus
Basically how I feel so far. They always do the concept eps good so you can see it here

That Nic Cage ep never happening though :{

NBC should've took a risk and hired a young show runner that's relatively new to this. That way the season crashes and burns or surprisingly succeeds instead of what may be a season of mediocrity.

I wonder what replies would be like if ppl didn't know Dan Harmon was fired or didn't even know the name of the creator/show runner.

Imma start going back to a certain level of ignorance regarding some of my tv shows. This much access to info tends to skew opinions way too much. I'd rather come to the conclusion that the show has fell off from the quality alone instead of knowing the creator is gone and looking for changes because of that.
This this this. I cant even watch the episodes the same way I used to anymore, I'm just looking for differences. I'm still enjoying it, but not as much as I should because of it.

I had no idea what the meaning of brittas costume meant. I didn't see significance I just kept laughing for some reason. I dont know why though

Britta has a history of non-sexy, "random" costumes. She also might have been making a statement about women dressing like "pieces of meat" on Halloween for male objectification.

This episode was good. Troy gave the most laughs.

Hmm, makes sense.

THINGS!

LMAO

Troy may have had his funniest episode yet. Specially with the sex room he thought was a swing lmaoooooo

Liked the subtle Gustavo Fringe references like the "May I be of some assistance" and the close ups

It feels like Happy Endings to me. Which makes sense because the guys running the show used to write for that. Happy Endings is great in its own right but it's not the same.

2nd ep makes more sense. To me they should mix it up when they replace writers. Get writers from other good comedies not just one. If they're gonna change the show at least be more daring in doing it and try to make something relatively new.

After a thorough investigation I've concluded that Ep 5 of Season 1 - "Advanced Criminal Law" is the funniest Community episode

i was half paying attention but it seemed like a dud. i laughed hard twice though. what abed said at the end and something else i forgot.

Episode was fine. If someone said they hated it or if someone said they loved it, I wouldn't argue either way. The structure seemed way off. It bounced all over the place, the tone was off, this is a case where Harmon's presence was missed.

Looking at the big picture stuff... I really didn't like Annie's plot. I get she's still young and might have that kind of fantasy, but it didn't really land for me. It just seemed like a step back for her character. It didn't seem to fit with the Annie/Jeff development we've been given, so that's my biggest "concern". She and Joel McHale do have great chemistry, so that saved it at the end.

I'd watch 22 minutes of Britta's opening routine/putting her clothes on.

I loved the Nigerian scammer joke, though.

I enjoyed the first two episodes, the first more than the second, but this was the first time where I felt something was clearly different about the show.

I wasn't watching what made Community the show what it was.

Show overall felt different, that was really noticeable. I liked it and enjoyed it though but I didn't really laugh a lot in that sense it's similar to shows in past seasons cuz there's been eps I've enjoyed where I didn't laugh at all.

Can't say quality wise show is doomed. At this point though I need me some Chang.

I'm happy because the early buzz from critics (who had this episode as a screener before the season started) was that this was the worst episode ever or it signaled a major issue for the show.

The biggest issue to me was the tone and structure was terrible. I think this could have been a season 3 episode before it went through Harmon and he put his touch and fixes on it. And as I said, the Jeff/Annie subplot felt bizarre and forced.
