NBC's Community Thread - 6/2 - Ep. 13: "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"

Yeah that's one thing that feels weird that they have to follow up on. Troy's and Abed's relationship, Troy's and Britta's relationship, Jeff and Annie's relationship, etc. Also seems Pierce and Shirley have been minimized even with that one ep being in Pierce's house. It's almost like whoever is taking the lead in the creative room doesn't fully get these characters and I'm really not trying to say the show is horrible because of that but it is noticeable.

I'm thinking if this show were to continue it'd be one that did not cater to the long time core fandom.

Really have not found this show too funny since it restarted.. I will continue to watch and love the characters but.. meh.. Parks and Rec has taken it's place as my favorite comedy show.

With major changes with off camera personnel from the jump and a major player in the writing department leaving half way during filming...this season will definitely feel "up and down". Filming the episodes out of order isn't gonna help the cause either, I know most tv shows film out of order all the time, but I really think its gonna hurt the flow of the season.

Allison this season tho, looking finer than ever :smokin.

It's like the show is stuck in Abedtv mode. Everyone's so cartoonish. It feels like that Speed Racer movie.

This was probably the most Harmon an ep has been this season, but they just don't know what angles to hit the jokes at or how to flow from scene to scene.

Every scene ends up feeling like it had a lot of wasted potential.

Wow didn't know Gillian played a stripper role and got topeless....Not bad.

I thought the episode was okay. I think the relationship stuff is a bit forced. All three I would say have been at most 5 or 6 out of 10.

Son of a.... Ken Jeong just joined a pilot for ABC, "Spy" I heard the original BBC version is pretty good, so I'll check it out.

But at the same time, not good for Community. And this weeks episode was even lower in viewers than last week, which was a series low, this shows drop-off is making me anxious about the future. Making me do the Abed sound when Cougar Town got moved to mid season.

Jeong would be easy to write off... he hasn't appeared but for a little bit so far and most don't seem to care or notice. And there's a chance if Community gets picked up, Jeong would stay with the show. It depends on his contract... Damon Wayons Jr. did the New Girl pilot while Happy Endings fate was up in the air. And when Happy Endings returned, he stayed with that show and they wrote him off New Girl.

^ Yea, Coach :lol, they still mention him on New Girl from time to time.

And yea, depending on the fate of Chang, I'm sure Ken would do a recurring role if anything.

On a side note, I miss Professor Ian Duncan, that dude brought the lol's

I found the episode to be not too bad. I mean I'm a Doctor Who fan so I got to laugh at little things and as a fan of British shows I got to laugh and cry at how they test for American remakes of other shows... Abed's "I hate you." during the credits has been me so many times

I'm happy because the early buzz from critics (who had this episode as a screener before the season started) was that this was the worst episode ever or it signaled a major issue for the show.

The biggest issue to me was the tone and structure was terrible. I think this could have been a season 3 episode before it went through Harmon and he put his touch and fixes on it. And as I said, the Jeff/Annie subplot felt bizarre and forced.
They need to drop this from the show completely. They had their chance to run with it and chose not too, and now whenever it comes up, it feels weird.

This episode was all over the place. It definitely had its moments though and I cant wait to see what Chang does now that hes back

Episode didn't have a lot of laugh out loud moments, but I'm not going to complain it was a terrible episode. I liked the turn the episode took that the group were the villains and calling back to how their moments affected others.

I think if they could bring back Nick Kroll for the role as lead German, it would have been a lot better, but again... I didn't find it awful.

i felt like i was watching a soap opera..

the only thing that made me chuckle was pierce's vietnam line, britta and annie were looking sexy as always though.

"meh" is the perfect was to describe this show.

I thought last year got OD when they had Chang take over the school but at least there were some high concept episodes that hit their mark. The show was hit or miss but they took big opportunities. I don't see that happening and I doubt it does

I missed Kroll too

Nice to finally see some Chang & is anyone getting sick of the dean yet, he was cool before every once & awhile but I think he's getting to much over exposure nowadays.

For me, its not even about Dean Peltons' screentime, Jim Rash is an academy award winner (best screenplay), he deserves every second :p. Its just the way he's been written in season 4, his moments have been WAY TOO out there. I mean he's always been an outrageous character, but man, the writers are just forcing it, combining his flamboyancy with his now obvious sexuality.

I liked it better when he was "a little suspect" and having those moments that gave off that awkward feeling, which made you ponder, asking, if he really was "ayo". Now its just being shoved into our faces. Pause.

Sidenotes:
-Allison and Gillian, have been looking RIGHT so far this season.

- I don't necessarily like what they've done with Chang either.

- I miss the broadness and brightness of seasons 1 and 2. They used to shoot at Valley college, Pierce college and once at CSUN here in the SanFernandoValley. Alot of the outdoor campus shots last season and this season are obviously shot on a studio lot. I loved how alot of the earlier episodes would just begin outside on the campus, it was so bright and green, which imo captured Greendale perfectly.
