Jimmies will be rustled when it comes to challenging tupac...
I watch from the sidelines because I have no opinion of my own on him... I only go off what others say b/c I'm too young to remember him...
that is very helpful...
when's the last time this dude did an interview with black radio hosts?
less than 72 hours ago.
i see you spend a lot of time parsing kanye interviews
You know, sitting back and observing this thread and the other one and I gotta say, most of the hate/praise hes getting seem a little misguided.
+ Kanye is a jerk. Don't deny it.
+ Classicism exists for entertainers and especially black entertainers. Is it hard to break into other creative industries and be taken seriously? Absolutely, so his speeches about being frustrated at the lack of opportunity is warranted. From what I can gather, his recent media frenzy of complaining is him trying to explain that as a black male with money, you still aren't free from high class forms of snobbery. I don't understand why people wave his talks off like he's "crazy." I will say that his language and explanations aren't crystal clear, but he isn't speaking a different language or something. All he's saying is "I have the means to do something in a different creative outlet, how come there's someone telling me no i can't do this? Why can't I?"
+ Objectively speaking, who said that you have to be all the way humble and you can't grab your charles dickens when you do something truly innovative? Now like I said earlier, Kanye is a jerk and I think he pats himself too hard on the back too hard, but I think there's something to note that even if Kanye dialed his egoism back when he became a celebrity and he just had 1/16th ego of what he has now, the public would still dislike him. The point is, I think that the convention of "being nice because I'm in a great financial place" is an ok convention to break...to a point.
+ As he is now with his over-complicated speeches, public marriage, and his ego in full display I don't see him being able to ever really being able to fully break through to other areas and have the effect he wants. The way he is going about it now is by telling the public "They won't let me! There's still a different form of racism up here when you have money. " is great for us to be aware of, but I don't think it will get him where he wants.
I'm still a fan of his just my two cents.
Exactly what I keep thinking.
He's Ye!!! Why does he feel he needs acceptance from these high end brands?
Just make what you wanna make. It will still sell.
Is he afraid his name alone is not good enough???
Yall havent made enough money to come close to understanding the movement.
Yall be caring so much bout EVERYONE ELSE and how crazy they are but yall ALL BROKE.

Kanye is a mama's boy.
And when mama's boys lose their mama, they lose their sense of reality for a period of time.
Kanye is today what Eminem was when he first hit the scene. Angry and confused, but very gifted and talented.
As long as Kanye stays off drugs he will be alright in the long run.
@Wr your Avy just made me have a Fox kids flashback
But I commented on the first couple of pages and lurked for the rest of the day to just read others opinions about the subject.
I've realized that 90% of the dislike for kanye is the fact that he doesn't come off as humble. We as people want to give you a title before you give it to yourself. If pharrell went around and called himself a musical genius we would hate him too...even though he is
but thats GA...what's Ye's excuse?
^Georgia.
The Confederate flag is the Georgia state flag, all those people posted are from Georgia.
I totally agree.
But to play advocate here, isn't Pharrell a largely racially ambiguous guy already vs. Kanye an outspoken darkskin black male playing into that angry black man stereotype to get his passion and point across.

We're gonna need a member of the white community to answer this one...Touché
But I don't know who's more accepted in the "white" community, 'ye or pharrell?
