ABC Officially Picks Up Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Rumors began to circulate last night that ABC would be officially ordering "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." to series today and they were right! The series has been picked up by the network for a full season and is expected to hit the airwaves this fall - no word on an episode count at this time. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that ABC will begin a "major marketing push" with the show this Sunday where a special look at the series will air before the season finale of "Once Upon a Time."

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers, ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

That cast pic really doesn't look like much.

*shrug* It's been like...15 years and I'll still watch anything Joss Whedon makes. :\

Hopefully the series is good. It could even be there springboard to launch lesser known marvel characters into the marvel cinematic universe

Yall should check out his body of work. When it comes to facial expressions I knew he could pull off the anger and rage. Along with his voice he seem like the type to suffer from a mental breakdown.

most of the stuff i seen him in he has always played a comedy driven character lol

Could be, also could just be some random super powered person. I haven't heard anything about Cage being in this, plus I'm pretty sure he's never been apart of S.H.I.E.L.D.

 @ the # being Coulson lives. That can't be the biggest draw about this show. They'd be better off mentioning Whedon's name.

I thought Phase 2 was the weapon using the tesseracts energy, like the one Hydra weapons used in Captain America film?

I know it was confusing because Avengers 1 is phase one in movie terms but I ma not sure it crosses over.
