Next Gen Xbox Reveal Confirmed for May 21

All MS is doing at the moment is back tracking because of the heavy backlash they're getting from the review. 75% of people are disappointed with the reveal. many are jumping the ship. It's far too late to change their mind and their stories. Their objective with this always online nonsense was to prevent piracy. As someone who has never modded his xbox from the original xbox up until now, even though I could've with a quick google search, I'm being punished for the handful of users who are in fact hacking. :rolleyes Eff that. #teamsony

xbox one is ugly and thats why i dont want it b

From what I know about that game it's an MMO and i will not enjoy that. As much as I would have liked to see BTB in halo go past 8v8 that's the limit. Having more than 32 people on a map at a time is annoying.

Bungie themselves said that Destiny is a FPS first and foremost.

Now that MS deaded that rumor I wonder what BS rumor Sony fanboys create next.

Not really they didnt even address it or say definitively anything...they basically said a whole lot of nothing....coupled with the fact the had a 1hr and 30 minute press conference about the latest video game system in which they spent less the 15 minutes talking about video games, they being m$ brought this own themselves. If they wouldve put video games in the forfront. and address all these questions and rumors, rumors btw that have been circulating for the past few years. Especially the used game rumors etc... That should have been one of their key focal points. but instead they addressed comcast/netflix/hulu and voice activated control and windows 8 gui, and new updated servers.

It isnt about some so called fanboys...wtf ever that is. Its about rumors/speculations that have been going on for a few years, m$ ignoring and dodging and indirectly addressing them, yet mad because ppl believe the rumors and discount them because of said rumors. Best way to end a rumor is present facts proof about said rumors...not oh im not gonna address or duck and dodge and give a baseless p.r. response. Or divert attention to something else, which they did in their "reveal" of a new video game system.

-The reveal was only 60 mins

-They said before hand that it was going to be light on games, they are saving games for E3

-They wanted to get the entertainment stuff (**** people hate to **** through at E3) out the way. **** you will have to sit through with Sony's E3 event

-Sony has a different tactic. MS is being intentionally vague, while Sony is telling half truths. Sony "PS4 won't directly block used games"......but then lets it slip that DRM will be up to the publishers, plus all the while securing patents for tech that would do the exact same thing.

Microsoft Responds to Xbox One Rumors, via Forbs

Microsoft has issued a statement calling recent rumors and reports of used games restrictions for the Xbox One “inaccurate and incomplete.”

“The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox,” the company said. “Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games. Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future.”

The problem here is in Microsoft’s failure to communicate clearly and in a timely fashion. The reason such rumors and reports have surfaced—incomplete though they may be—is that Microsoft has not done a good job conveying a simple and straightforward message to its consumers and the gaming press.

Hopefully we do get more information in the near future, because as it stands we are left piecing through the rubble.

If Microsoft does end up taking a cut of used game sales (or licenses, rather) I think we’ll be in for a short-term disaster and a long-term gain.

Ultimately, the end of retail-based physical copies of games will be a net gain for consumers, as prices will be able to come down and competition should, theoretically, drive prices down. But in the meantime, if buying and selling used games is made more difficult or more expensive, consumers will likely feel the pain in their wallets.

Technology-driven industry sea changes are often painful, however, so I maintain a broadly optimistic outlook regardless.

Either way, it’s time we had clear answers from both Microsoft and Sony on how used games will be handled in the next generation. Hopefully by E3 we will have a clearer picture.

Update: I failed to note that much of the speculation surrounding used games and the Xbox One has been derived from statements made by Microsoft employees and/or sources close to the Xbox One, so this isn’t simply base speculation we’re talking about, but rather an “incomplete” picture based on both what Microsoft has said and has failed to say. I intended to say as much with the original post, but apparently that did not come across as clearly as I intended.

Even when they be sayin something, they still dont be sayin nothing.

Im waiting to see actual games. Whichever has the best looking games is going to get my money.

I already own 2 Xbox 360's too.

The Sony bias not only on this forum is extremely annoying

But how is it a rumor when it was Phil Harrison the corporate vice president of Microsoft who said it not once but twice.

They saw the backlash and then back pedaled.

I could be wrong but I doubt Sony will spend much time on entertainment in their E3 conference. They have to show their plans for PS3, PSVITA and PS4 in 2 hours including showing the console, games from first and third party for all 3 platforms and pricing. If they are focusing on just games then all the other stuff will be put on the back burner and will be shown off in the months closer to the launch.

I could be wrong since we got wonderbook for 20 mins last E3 :lol but I think this one will be one to remember.

As for DRM, Sony already said the console will work offline, Blizzard already confirmed that Diablo 3 will work offline on the PS4 so we'll just have to see what they have in mind for used games.

never suggested they said they were going to talk about games in much detail. but them complaining and wanting to put to rest a two plus year rumor...what better forum to do it then the reveal. Also as someone else stated it was a pres/ceo of microsoft who made the statement. So how can a company so called get mad, take offense to rumors, that they themselves started?

End of the day i agree both didnt go into much detail (ms moreso) about used games...and the systems architect. They basically wanted to get the hype train rolling.

Now i expect full detail etc... from both companies come e3...Although i dont think we will.

Question.  This might sound stupid but I'm gonna ask it anyways.  Since all the games are downloaded to our hard drive is xbox gonna make a big enough hard drive to store all of the games or are they gonna expect us to shell out another $100.00-$150.00 bucks for better hard drive?   I'm a guy who plays multiple games and after buying the new console, a few games, and the new xbox live subscription the last thing I'm gonna want to do is have to spend another $100.00 bucks just to be able to save my games.

Steve Ballmer is the head of MS, he wasn't even at the reveal

Don Mattrick is the head of the Xbox division, he didn't say anything to start the rumors

Phil Harrison, a VP in charging of Xbox's Europe division said some stuff in an interview that started all this.

Then MS back pedaled because it was obvious they didn't want the news to come out because the final decision on the online policy and DRM has not been made yet.

Sony got 2 hours to talk about a lot of stuff. The PS4 will still be the focus but there will be a lot of crap people (not all) really don't care about:

Bragging bout PS3
Move :lol
Trying to slow down the Vita's slow death
The OS functions

Fanboys have already blocked out parts of the Sony reveal in their mind.

still a higher up no doubt.... in a corporation so large...he surely isnt low on the totem pole. He def needs a lesson in pr. I mean yea he attempted to back peddle etc... But it would have been better to either...not bring it up, ever make mention of it..or address it with the truth...or lie and say we havent figured it out yet (cause basically saying that would be a lie, but it would go over well and pacify the general public)

When the 250gb xbox came out microsoft came out with a 320gb hard drive.

Plz believe that m$ gon come out with a 750gb or even a 1tb hard drive.

Assuming that you can actually remove the hard drive.

This is what I want to think.

What I actually think is that you can play games from your external hdds. I think you can do this, but I'm not 100% sure.

I guess you guys didn't know this, i'll say it then.

RustyShackleford is a MS Sales Rep.

He revealed that months ago on another thread.
