Next Gen Xbox Reveal Confirmed for May 21

At the end of the day, lets wait for E3 & til we can actually experience the actual system for itself. Aint nothing else you can do til then

i think the point is that Sony really didnt answer any of those questions at their event, and while Microsoft did and got bashed fro it. For all we know, Sony may have the exact same things xbone has ( in terms of used games etc)

Sony didn't answer those questions at their event because they weren't asked. The rumors about DRM, mandatory kinect and always online started a while ago, even before Sony's event.

The date in the link is February 6th and after the Adam Orth situation it was obviously going to be the first thing the press ask after the reveal.
There's not been a single rumor for Sony regarding used games apart from the tweet from Geoff Keighley and Yoshida already confirmed it will work offline.

no way in hell is only microsoft using the drm verification . sony fanboys get ready to be bent over also

We'll see in E3 but with EA dropping online passes and having an exclusive partnership with MS it kind of points to only Microsoft having the system in place.
Mirror's Edge 2 has popped up on two different Amazon websites only for XBone so it won't suprise if they get that as an exclusive for implementing DRM.

E3 will reveal all and I can't wait.

well they werent asked because they didnt really open their people up to questions after the conference. MSFT did. So take it how you will. I can say that Sony is hiding things

Doesn't really say much. If they don't have no DRM then what better time to say it than E3 where everyone is listening.

One of the benefits of showing stuff people want to see at a console unveiling.

More like after the "reveal" you make people go home. Whereas MS brings him inside for hands on and questions.

You really think the gaming press was so impressed that they forgot to mention used games DRM especially when Sony filed a patent for just that a month earlier.

C'mon B

Yeah? I mean, the PS4 announcement went off without a hitch. Sony's been riding high since the unveiling. People were excited about the system and getting an early look at some next gen software.

Can't say the same for MS. After the lackluster unveiling it's been an uphill battle against a whole bunch of bad press.

Not saying things can't change in 2 weeks. MS could be back in the driver seat after E3.

With their whole "We will kill the PS4" talk, it better not be a dry threat.

If they back off DRM and online, don't shove Kinect down people's throats and have a great line-up, then yeah it could happen.

Then the only goof left will be the weaker specs, which won't bite them in the *** right away, probably couple years down the line

But they will need to be flawless at E3 and Sony will have to shot themselves in the foot a couple times.

But knowing Sony they do just that, but I still have a feeling MS is selling Wolf tickets when it comes to E3.

Xbox was a joke i don't need all this voice crap and who wants a kinect?! Im 90% sure ps4 will be getting my money plus that used game fees is disgusting ill get ps4 just for xbox doing that.

Apparently, there is a used game fee for PS4 as well. Otherwise, it would've sealed the deal for me to get the PS4 as well. This way I'll wait to see what else they show.

This used game fee annoys the hell out of me. Not because I ever really buy used games, but when I buy a console, I don't want any, and I mean ANY type of online requirement, now or in the future. I plan on keeping my consoles from now on and not selling them after the next generation comes along, especially now that there is no backwards compatibility.

But this way, the way I understand it is if the console breaks some time into the future and I have 30 games, I will need to get logged into the network with my account to play the games. And who knows what can happen in the future: My account can get hacked into, there can be a major hack into the entire Xbox Live/PSN and profiles can be deleted. And if Sony and Microsoft go out of the console business like Sega, there might be no Xbox Live/PSN anymore at all. Then what? Then you're stuck with a glorified brick for a console and a bunch of glorified coasters you can use your game discs as. I can't believe that there isn't a bigger uproar from the consumers because of this. I want to be able to play those consoles like you can play a NES or SNES today.

This thing has got me extra frustrated to a point where I would pick up a Wii U if the new Xbox/PS weren't much more powerful and had more games.

they arent going to go out of the console business. there is way too much money in it. Sega was driven out of the business, and that has more to do with the success of their company. Sony and Microsoft are behemoths, who arent going anywhere soon.

Im pretty sure hackers cant actually delete stuff, just steak information. And if u are scared of that, then you might as well move to the middle of nowhere and love off the grid. because alot of the stuff u use can be hacked.

Do you know that the consoles could also age and break down?!

So many uncontrollable factors! AHHHHH! How dare there be consumer risk!

Wow, it must be so awesome to predict the future. Wasn't Sony in some major financial problems not too long ago? I'm not saying that one of the two will leave the video game business for certain like Sega, but you can't know for sure. Yes, anything that is connected to the Internet can be hacked. And while online games can offer a different experience, playing video games doesn't HAVE to be intertwined with the Internet. As a consumer, I would like the option to choose both.

I just find it sad that these are essentially "temporary" consoles. I mean, decades from now you might not be able to plug them in like a NES and those early Atari consoles and just play for the nostalgia factor.. Unless you happen to have both a working console and the stack of game that is locked to that particular console with a ball and chain.

i get what your saying...they may in the next system come with a totally different way to get games recieve games save games etc...that is unthinkable to us today. With they way things are as far as we know of it, this potentially would be the only "disposable system"

Like you said even if we didnt have emulators etc... up to this point you could as long as you have a form of electricity.... could play every videogame (including handhelds and arcades) with relatively ease. I might well i am gonna wait awhile before getting the system....and probably wait till a hackis developed.

Kinect is great lol I don't know what yall talking about. Im assuming most of the bashing of it comes from people who either never used it or think its just a gimmicky thing like the wii.
It's not...

It's a gimmick.

There are no compelling games that are made for the kinnect.

PS move has heavy rain, which actually seems cool.

Kinnect on the other hand...

I am also sure the PS4 is going to have some kind of Used games fee. But I wonder how they could enforce it, considering it doesn't have to be connect to the internet?

Both companies are probably getting pressured by big 3rd party companies like EA or the people that make COD and what not.

What if Sony says no to EA and COD makers on the subject then EA can probably pull support from the PS4 or XB1 if they don't do it.

EA is probably the biggest company I think I read years ago in an issue of EGM when the PS2 generation was upcoming.

Imagine not having support from them... you'd be doomed because besides COD they make all the other top grossing games that are not 1st party like Halo, Mario, Zelda, God War, Gran Turismo.

I think the big companies are pushing for this more than M$ or Sony.
Exactly, one of the big reasons why the Dreamcast failed was because it wasn't supported by EA. I honestly believe if it had Madden, Live, Triple Play, Medal of Honor, etc. Sega would still be in the console business today. Like it or not EA holds WEIGHT in this industry.

meh. id say it mainly failed because Sega had left a bad taste in consumers mouths with their prior systems, and the PS2 was huge in Japan, plus it had a dvd player. The 2k series was actually alot better than madden, so i dont think people( i had a dreamcast and didnt pine to play any ea games) cared
