Next Gen Xbox Reveal Confirmed for May 21

Even though they say you need to have the Kinect connected to the X1 for it to work, can't you just plug/unplug the Kinect from the X1 when you want to use it? If people are so paranoid about M$ watching you whack off, plugging and unplugging the Kinect would be the next gen On/Off switch.

And I don't understand the more than X amount of people in a room thing. What are they trying to limit here? The number of people that are allowed to play a multiplayer game i.e. COD? I don't even understand what the point of that is? So you can't have a kids bday party and have all these kids around the Kinect because all of the kids need to be licensed users??

Kinect has to be plugged into the XBone for it to work. It won't work without it.

The X amount of people or Visual DRM is for TV not games. For example you buy a film which has a license to only be viewed by 4 people, if kinect scans the room and sees 5 people then you can't watch it because you've exceeded the amount of licenses.

The fifth person would probably have to hide or blend in to watch the film.

I personally don't think it will make it through but I didn't think no used games and always online would either but here we are.

Don't yall get tired of spreading false info?

The no used games thing has been debunked, if you sell your game to someone once they install it on their x1 it'll stop working on yours. The only fees associated w/ used games are m$ and developers taking money out of gamestop's pocket.

The x1 is not always online, it checks the net every so often.

it's like a damn alex jones convention in here

Yea but I'm sayin is when you want to use your X1, plug in the Kinect and say Xbox On. When you're done using the X1, just unplug the Kinect, and therefore turn off.

And if the Visual DRM is for TV/movies, I'd just watch it using a regular Bluray player.

If there is some kind of restriction, people always find a way around it, its just sad that we have to jump through hoops when it should never have been here in the first place.

Who's to blame for the lack of solid information after the reveal, where all the people from MS were all giving different information.

When I said I didn't think used games or always online would be here, I meant I didn't think those rumours would have a shred of truth but here we are not knowing if they are true or not. I expected microsoft to say nope none of it's true and then carry on talking about the system but they didn't and then it all got messy.

This is the last update from MS

Microsoft dismisses Xbox One online requirements and used-game fees as 'potential scenarios'

Reports of Xbox One's online requirements and used-game fees are no more than "potential scenarios" and not concrete details, Microsoft told Polygon via email.

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," Microsoft told Polygon.

Initial news from Wired stated that those with second-hand or used games would be required to pay a small fee before being able to play.

Additionally, Kotaku spoke with vice president Phil Harrison during today's event, where Harrison told the publication that users would need to connect to the internet every day. Microsoft could not confirm these details.

"There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be," Microsoft said.

Microsoft said earlier today that Xbox One would not require an always on internet connection. The statement is echoed on Microsoft's Q&A page, which says that the Xbox One does require a connection, but does not always have to be connected.

"We're designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready," the post reads. "We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection."

You can follow along with all of today's news though our Xbox One StoryStream.

I'm not going to state anything as fact until MS comes out and say it and hopefully they do it properly this time.

sorta the xbox one always has to have a internet connection, because it does a check every 24 hrs...I mean i doubt it will be scheduled ala same time everyday. So how would one know when it sends a signal/feed and when it doesnt? So sure it may not be directly sending info 24/7 but if it does it iuno a hour everyday how would you know when it does or doesnt do so.

I think what he's saying is that it is always online if it needs to connect to theinternet once a day for DRM checks.
exactly they are just playing on words...oh no it doesnt have to be connected 24/7...but everyday at any given time for like an hour the system needs to be connected to the internet to do checks. So cutting all the circle talk and bs IT NEEDS 24 HOUR connectivity.

Congrats, you can google.

By the way, it looks like i did use the word properly in my first post.

Ok here i'll use it , iYen is a boy who is enthusiastically devoted to his favorite game console, which is why he is actually the one in here trolling everyone who prefers Xbox over Play Station.

And yes, surely all of this kinect BS is true. A company like Microsoft couldn't possibly have lawyers that know what the Privacy Act is.

you're a troll. Go check my posts in the ps4 thread if you're that delusional into thinking that i'm a fanboy.

So it takes an hour for a drm check? link?
i dont know how long it takes just threw a random amount of time out there the point is that they will be doing random drm checks throughout the day. So for them to say you dont need your internet connected 24/7 is false, because how would you know when these random drm checks would occur for you to just decide to connect/disconnect your internet.

^supposedly kinnect is required for the system to operate.
I don't care about m$ watching me 24/7. I already know that google is watching me. Kinnect is a gimmick that shouldn't be mandatory.

It's a peripheral, if you don't want to use it I'm pretty damn sure you don't have to.
You know what the best thing is though, neither you or I know for sure so stop reiterating your assumptions as though they are fact.

I didn't imply that it was fact.

I said supposedly.

After a Microsoft-hosted London event around the Xbox One reveal, Xbox's UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has said that the console will not function without Kinect connected.

"Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes," he said. Asked whether the Xbox One will accommodate people who perhaps play in their bedroom rather than their living room, Eagle replied: "Yes, absolutely. We use the living room almost as a moniker - that's where we assume the best screen is in the house. But if you like to play in any other room in the house, the Xbox One will deliver the same quality of experience whatever the environment."

As anyone who's ever tried to play with Kinect[/color] in an enclosed area knows, the current technology simply doesn't support it - which means that Xbox One's new Kinect sensor must be significantly different if it will work in any room in the house.

Does the system come with kinect or it has to be bought separately? And is the xbox live subscription the same price?

A kinnect is included with every system.

Supposedly, your current xbl sub. carries over to the new xbox.

So, it's likely that it's the same price.

That doesn't even seem like it was an answer to the question asked for all you know he might have been saying that the kinect needs to be connected to the xbox one to function.  The point is we don't know, no matter what info or misinformation is being spread by some marketing director.  Its like you guys are seeking out the most obscure pieces of info.  I watched the reveal and they didn't go into it.  I'll wait for e3 to get more answers rather than assuming this or that.

huh it is a direct answer to do you have to have/need the kinects in order for the xbox one to work.If it cannot function without it......

http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/hands-on-with-xbox-one/

plus they had an actual hands on testing playing demos etc with the system...not a dev kit etc...but the actual system itself.

looks like i'm switching over to playstation for the next generation. honestly all i want to do is play games. Microsoft's selling point of the xbox one is that it's going to have tv or whatever. Am i the only person that gets an xbox for the games? all i use my 360 for is for games and sometimes netflix. I don't care if i can watch tv on my xbox, thats why i have cable tv for. and whats up with needing an internet connection to play offline, what happens when my internet isn't working, i won't be able to play at all?

I'm making the switch

Don't know how big next gen games are going to be but it takes me about an hour to download 8gb and why don't you think the game would be on a disk that you'd rip to your hard drive the way we currently do on the 360.
