Next Gen Xbox Reveal Confirmed for May 21

lol at anyone who still goes to gamestop.
For what? Going in there and buying stuff and playing it? When it comes to trade ins you're dumb for going to any major retailer. Of course they'll bend you over. You've already made the decision that you don't want it. Why would they give you top dollar for something you don't even want?

It's a joke.

In any case, almost anything from gamestop can be found for a cheaper price.

Especially used or new games.

I remember several games that I purchased from gamestop that were priced at new.

I paid $65, then the worker gets a disc and puts it in an obviously opened package.

Sure enough, when I get home.

The disc can't be read.

Scumbag gamestop.

Some places, like mom and pop establishments and even competing retailers give at least double what Game Stop does in cash. Future Shop (Division of Best Buy and a large chain retailer up here in Canada) give cash for trade-ins and more money than Game Stop does.

People go to places like Game Stop because they don't know any better. Because it's a specialty shop, they think it's smarter to buy games from there. Add to that, the stupid pre-order bonuses they pay publishers to get to make people buy from them. A smart consumer compares prices and finds the best deal.

aren't games like COD breaking records with sales? i doubt game company's are struggling right now. they just greedy

But Activision is such a huge company and CoD has a enormous following (for some reason).

I mean THQ went bankrupt a couple months ago ..

I doubt used game sales are the reason thq went bankrupt. Aren't used games only like 20% of the market. Game company's go down all the time and have been.

THQ failed because of one bad business decision after the another. Used games didn't sink them

-But remember, if this blows up in MS's face then they will be quick to tell pubs "We tried, but it didn't work" and get rid of the system. I still remember when they tried to charge PC gamers to play online :{ :lol .

Can't wait until the details leak that Sony is doing the same exact thing plus charging for $30 base online and $100 for Gaikai streaming . MS just decided to take the bullet first. This console generation will forever be known as the one that MS, Sony, and devs took total control from the consumer .

have release dates been announced?

Monday when the conferences happen. Both Sony and Microsoft should reveal dates and prices.

I'm thinking that there has to be some way to get around this. Say if you buy a disc based game, as long as the disc is in when you play, maybe you're good. There's no need to run a check if you continue to place the disc in the console. Isn't that how the installation process worked for the 360?? You couldn't play without the disc even if it's installed?

Should say that is rumored.

or the Death of Gaming Console .....i say puckem if they gonna screw over consumer rights ...

I get why everyone is up in arms. But does everyone REALLY trade games back and forth with their friends like that? Me and my boys all usually buy the game ourselves so that we can play together online. I can count on my hand the amount of times Ive given a game to one of my boys to play for a little while. And even then I could just log into his xbox and then he would be able to play the game no problem.

The only people this is bad for is Gamestop because no1 is going to trade in their games because they will only be able to give you 5 bucks so they can turn a profit selling it at like 20 since you will have to go home and drop another 30 anyways just to play it.

I can see the once a day connect to the internet thing being a problem tho. Like if your internet goes out a lot. Or there is a power outage or something then you would be without your xbox until you could connect it to the internet. That is clearly a check to see if your xbox has been hacked since they know it will happen eventually.

Its bad right now because no1 knows what Sony is doing for sure. But to be honest it hasnt turned me off from staying with XBOX this gen. But im still waiting for graphics and gameplay demos before I decide which one im dorpping my bread on this time around

yes we as adults may not trade games with each other as often but what about kids they normally trade video games or let each other borrow games even if adults dont as often

Ofcourse it is . Just like everything that was said about the Xbone was a rumor until Microsoft came out with that press release , didn't stop you and others from taking everything negative you heard about the XBone and running with it . No matter how you slice it Sony staying quiet as hell through all this is not good at all . I have a feeling a lot of us will be equally disappointed with them come Monday evening . Video games as we know it since its existence has died this generation thanks to EA, Activision, MS, and Sony.

Hey man, I'll be the first to admit Sony is doing this too. :lol Look at my 2nd last post in here.

The difference is that Microsoft employees started the rumors that were throughout this thread. No one at Sony has mentioned anything about PSN being a pay service.

Yea, ill admit Blockbuster and sleepovers playing video games all night was the move back when I was a kid. Kids trading games is pretty common. But I doubt that will hurt console sales. Kids are just going to go for the newer version of whatever they have now. The only way this hurts MS is if Sony decides to not do this (which they will) because then it would just be something to ***** about. But from what I read yesterday it isnt even a MS thing.

Its a developer thing that they implement with MS and more than likely Sony as well because you wont need the disks to play games this gen so they are just looking out for the Dev so that people dont buy one copy and then pass it to 20 of their friends. There will still be ways for kids to do the sleepover video game nights and borrowing games from your buddy. You just may have to take 1 or 2 steps before you play the game rather than back in the day you just grab the cartridge from your boy and pop it in and your playing 007: Golden Eye like you own that ****.

Its all a wrap before X1 and PS4 release.

Madcatz releasing an Android console. :rollin

"Enjoy it for 3 months before it stops working like all of our other products!"

E3 2013: Mad Catz Project M.O.J.O. Android Games Console Revealed
New system offers unhindered access to Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
by Scott Lowe and Justin Davis JUNE 7, 2013

With devices like Ouya drumming up interest in open-source gaming platforms, Mad Catz is jumping into the fray with a system of its own — Project M.O.J.O. Like its Kickstarter-backed peers, Project M.O.J.O. is based on Android, but instead of requiring games to be custom-tailored to its hardware, it works with existing digital storefronts like Amazon's Appstore and Google Play. Unbound by a proprietary platform, Project M.O.J.O. enables users to access a library of thousands of titles, including those already purchased for their Android tablet or smartphone.

The system leverages Mad Catz's GameSmart platform, which was introduced back in January at CES. GameSmart is a range of cross-platform Bluetooth accessories designed for tablets, smartphones, PCs, and smart TVs. Project M.O.J.O. is expected to ship with the company's C.T.R.L.R. Bluetooth controller, which offers a full suite of dual-analog thumbstick, trigger, d-pad controls for gamepad-enabled Android titles, like Dead Trigger, ShadowGun, and more. For games designed for touch controls, consumers will also be able to use Mad Catz's GameSmart mice.

While the company maintains that Project M.O.J.O. is merely in its prototyping stages, the final hardware is expected to ship with 16GB of internal storage with expandable microSD storage, Bluetooth Smart 4.0 (when the next version of Android ships), two USB ports for wired gamepads and other accessories, HDMI, Wi-Fi, and a headphone port.

For processing, Mad Catz hasn't committed to any specific silicon yet, but it's currently investigating Nvidia's Tegra 4 processor, which was also unveiled at CES earlier this year. If the company lands on Nvidia's new mobile chip, however, it could prove to be a competitive edge and an alluring prospect to consumers. Not only would it be a generation ahead of the Ouya, it'd also come equipped with Nvidia's Shield technology, which allows players to stream full HD games from their PC over a local Wi-Fi network.

Mad Catz is clearly trying to best the competition on power and versatility, but what about cost? The company won't say, but given the kind of performance its shooting for, a $99 price point would seem tough to achieve.

Hands-on
We only had a few minutes to get our mitts on the M.O.J.O. itself, but even in that brief time the small console managed to impress. It's extremely small and light - it's an even smaller form factor than the Ouya.

The packed-in controller is bigger and heavier than the console, in fact. The M.O.J.O.'s controller feels great, as expected, given that it is a modified version of Mad Catz' $99 MLG-licensed C.T.R.L.R. controller. The analog sticks and triggers feel just a hair less responsive than the near-perfect stock Xbox 360 controller, but some elements, like the D-Pad, actually improve on Microsoft's design.

The 16 GB of on-board storage is a respectable amount for Android gaming today, but with many high-end games climbing into 1GB (or higher) territory, the microSD slot tucked into back of the console is very welcome.

The M.O.J.O. booting into stock Android 4.1 and running stock Android games is the system's greatest asset. If you already own 100+ Android games, they'll all work with the M.O.J.O. right out of the box, as will all your Bluetooth or USB controllers, keyboards, and mice (assuming they already play nice with Android, of course). But this can also create a few awkward moments. We used a controller to boot into Dead Trigger, but then had to use a mouse to navigate through the game's traditionally touch-powered menus, before switching back to the controller to blast zombies once the level began.

Although not available now, the finished controller will include a "mouse mode" to help alleviate this awkwardness. Mouse mode lets you use the controller's analog stick to move a mouse cursor around the screen, letting you control all of the game or app's functions with the controller alone. Mad Catz also promised a "solution" for multi-touch heavy games, but hasn't yet provided any specifics.

IGN will have more on the Mad Catz Project M.O.J.O. in the coming months, including, crucially, the hardware's final specs and price.

i mean M$ and sony could just say no and refuse to let that happen especially if it hurts sales. i mean if a publisher gets mad and doesnt want to make a game for the company that refuses to let them implement it they will STILL lose money either way. i think this is just a test to see what happens and how the gaming market takes it. if we refuse to buy then everything will stay the same if we buy anyway then stricter rules will be in place
