NBC picked the right year to hire an officiating consultant.

Jim Daopoulos, a long-time official and supervisor of officials, joined NBC this season.  And he tells PFT that the NFL and NFL Referees Association have signed a new deal.

A crew is being assembled to work Thursday night’s game between the Browns and Ravens.  Then, on Friday, the officials will travel to Dallas to retrieve their equipment and receive their game assignments for Sunday and Monday, with the same crews working together as last year.

Details are still not clear, but Daopoulos says that the much-debated pension issue was resolved with the current defined-benefit plan remaining in place for five years before switching to a 401(k)-style defined contribution plan.

Also, it’s believed that the deal will cover five more years before this one, which means that we’ll potentially be doing this again in 2018.

UPDATE 10:56 p.m. ET:  Daopoulos has provided some more facts.  The officials will vote on the deal in Dallas on Friday, at which time it will become final.  They’ll then participate in a clinic, and head on Saturday to the game sites.  Also, the officials will receive a pay raise of four percent, with 12 guaranteed game checks this year and 19 in subsequent years (including preseason).  As to the checks they’ve missed this year, the officials will divvy up $2.5 million.

Was anyone watching ESPN2 yesterday around 1ish? There was something on that had Rodgers Brady Montana
Young and another HoFer can't remember. But they were all in a room talking and it was showing highlights of all their careers. I was at the school union and it was on mute. I really wanted to see what they were talking about. I feel like
You can never find this stuff on the Internet either.

Yea, all of the Football Life episodes have been great, except I couldn't watch the ray lewis one. I can't stand to hear him talk. Even my 8 year old finds him extremely annoying.

The Browns episode next week looks really good. Look at the people Belichick hired when he was there Jim Bates, Kirk Ferentz, John Mitchell (Steelers asst head coach), Ozzie Newsome, Scott Pioli, Phil Savage, Nick Saban, & Jim Schwartz just to name a few...
Casino offers refunds on Seattle-Green Bay game
By KEN RITTER (Associated Press) | The Associated Press  – 18 hours ago

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Las Vegas casino took an unusual step Wednesday and offered refunds to gamblers who lost money when the Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers on a controversial touchdown at the end of Monday night's game.

Derek Stevens, owner The D Las Vegas, seized on the attention being paid to the much-derided decision by replacement officials handling the NFL game and became the only casino in Las Vegas to offer refunds.

''I know exactly how it would feel if I was laying the number and I saw what happened,'' Stevens said. He declared himself ''disgusted'' with the ruling and said he just couldn't accept the outcome.

The Seahawks won 14-12 after a Packers defender and Seahawks receiver fought for the ball on a final ''Hail Mary'' pass play. Officials missed an offensive pass interference call and then decided there had been simultaneous catch by the two players. Under NFL rules, that gave Seattle the touchdown and the win.

Nevada gambling regulators said Stevens could make refunds if he wanted.

Another Las Vegas sports book operator worried the move set a bad precedent.

''Whenever there are bad calls we're going to start refunding? Based on what?'' said Jay Kornegay, race and sports book director at The LVH casino. ''We're supposed to pay out winning wagers based on official final scores by the league, in this case the NFL.''

Some offshore online betting outlets have also issued refunds.

Stevens, who has been renovating and rebranding the high-rise downtown casino formerly called the Fitzgerald, said D Las Vegas will refund straight and money-line bets made on the Packers until Sunday - but only on wagers made at his sports book.

State gambling regulations prohibit a sports book from rescinding a wager without prior approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission chairman.

The chairman, Mark Lipparelli, said a refund is different from rescinding a bet. He said that in his four years on the regulatory panel he couldn't remember a similar move.

''It's not a rescission. It's a refund,'' Lipparelli told The Associated Press. ''That's within their discretion.''
