mallet with consistent time with the first unit could be OK. but he needs to get that time. from everything pats fans have heard about him, his presence in the huddle is great. he's smart enough. just needs to be able to actually play to develop consistency. the only time we obviously see him is preseason, and he's shown flashes. but the consistency isn't there. how much of that is on him and how much is only playing with 3rd and 4th stringers is to be determined.
that said, i would be pissed if i gave up a 2nd rounder (especially considering it's the first pick in the 2nd round) for him. 3rd or lower? sure. might as well.
