he was trying to get entered into the supplemental draft, but that got denied..

then he was saying if he got picked past the 3rd round, he would not sign.. and then reenter the draft next year (which I believe you can do.. I think john Elway did it)

but since he didn't get drafted, he losses that option..  I believe

Like the Skins draft....I think I'm most excited for Jamison Crowder. The way he gets in/out of his breaks + his route running is bananas. Hopefully this is our Antonio Brown :pimp:

Man...I wanted him on the Bucs so bad.

I think he can be like Emmanuel Sanders.

The Oakland Raiders are planning to release wide receiver James Jones, who led the team in receptions in 2014, after finding two new starting receivers in April.

The Raiders signed veteran Michael Crabtree from San Francisco on April 13 and then used the No. 4 overall pick on Alabama receiver Amari Cooper in the first round of the draft last Thursday night. Cooper and Crabtree are both expected to start.

The Raiders signed Jones, a former Green Bay Packer, to a three-year, $10 million deal in 2014 to bring him back to his native Bay Area. CSN Bay Area reported early Monday that Jones said by text he was being released. A league source confirmed to ESPN that the team is expected to cut Jones.

The Raiders, who have about $20 million in remaining salary-cap room, will save about $3.4 million in cap space by releasing Jones.

Jones, 31, will be the seventh veteran cut by the Raiders this offseason, and the fourth such player acquired by Oakland in the last year.

Jones was valuable for Oakland last season, with 73 catches for 666 yards. He was rookie quarterback Derek Carr's favorite target, especially on third down, when he had 31 catches.

Meanwhile, middle linebacker Miles Burris wrote on Instagram on Monday morning that he is no longer a Raider. Burris was a fourth-round pick in 2012, Reggie McKenzie's first as Oakland's general manager. Guard Tony Bergstrom (third round) is the only draft pick left from that class and was a healthy scratch all last season.

Burris started all 16 games in 2014 and had 109 tackles. However, Burris, who was entering the final season of his contract, was replaced in the starting lineup by free-agent pickup Curtis Lofton. Oakland also drafted Ben Heeney out of Kansas in the fifth round.

Another failed Top 10 product...

James Jones can still stretch the field pretty well. He'll be a good pickup for somebody as a #3 receiver.

Your correct. The only way to re-enter the another draft is to be selected, but not sign with your team. If you go undrafted, you are automatically deemed an undrafted free agent, and ineligible to re-enter any other draft.

Collins's agent hurt him, by saying that if he didn't get select buy the 3rd round, he wouldn't sign with anyone. That shows lack knowledge of the NFL rbylaws. It would have been smart to let a team draft him, and then refuse to sign without notice. By coming out and saying it, guaranteed no team would draft him after the 3rd round passed. The agent's lack of knowledge may have cost Collins a career, and himself future clients, after how unprofessional and clueless he handled the issue.

it's ******* crazy how Collins went from a first round pick to undrafted & may not be in the league for awhile.

he's not a suspect tho, right?

James Jones had some CLUTCH catches last year and played pretty damn good.

Of course he also had one of the best gifs of the year, too... but still

:wow: :wow:

I knew you couldn't do that, agent seemed way off when he started saying he wouldn't sign. He was so adamant about it, I thought they may have changed the rules.

I guess not :smh:

Feel really bad for Collins if he comes out of this unfortunate situation with his hands clean.

Hopefully it turns out he's innocent and he gets snapped right up into a good situation.

I don't like to point fingers and wait I'll the story is out.

But it's interesting that a chick that was preggo with his kid ? Gets killed right before he's supposed to make a ton of bread.

But let's see how this plays out.

Paternity test results in already?

Did they say he was the father or just an ex boyfriend?

Story has been all over the place so I may have missed that part.

yea.. that's what I thought..

had to look it up, but Elway threated to do it to the colts.. not sign with whoever drafted him and then reenter the draft the following year.. but he had the threat of baseball in his back pocket to make the threat realistic to the colts

the thing that confuses me about Collins is why he didn't go clear his name right away, as of today he hasn't met with police and he was dodging them last week

this whole story seems like some far fetched movie

If Collins' name is cleared, he will be able to sign a three-year contract as an undrafted free agent. Rapoport points out that his agents could push for a fully guaranteed contract that will void after three years because of playing time

Eagles do it

Same thing I said. His *** should have cleared his name ASAP! If you have nothing to hide then why wait a full week to go speak with them. It makes me think him and his attorney were trying to develop some sort of story or hide his involvement.

ok so he did meet police today and they still say he isn't a suspect, isn't that enough to clear him now?

A source told The Advocate Friday that Collins would soon take a paternity test to determine whether he was the father of Brenton Mills. The baby’s father has not been identified.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. of the Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed after that meeting that Collins “fully cooperated with investigators” and said Collins is “still not considered a suspect in the homicide of Brittney and Brenton Mills.”

This story is crazy.

If he's not a considered a suspect and fully cooperated, what's the holdup? Shouldn't he be able to sign with a team now?
