Ok, sorry for asking a question. I have never seen or heard of a political family set each other up, no I wasn't serious.

I got the link to the article from a reputed news site but tried to trace down the source and saw it came from abril uno.  didn't realize it was a satire site, since i originally saw it on legitimate Euro and African news pages.  But you are right, the report is fake.  That's my bad.

Various news websites have picked up and reported a satirical website’s story that the Ugandan President’s daughter has come out as gay.

Abril Uno, a satire website from the US, last Wednesday published a spoof article which joked that Diana Kamuntu, Yoweri Musveni’s daughter, came out as gay in a radio interview.

“I am gay, I am homosexual. I have known this since I was a little girl,” the article quotes of Kamuntu.

In it, Abril Uno names real radio host James Kasirivu, as conducting the interview, and says that he “noticeably was in shock, and could not seemingly get words out of his mouth.”

The article was picked up by several websites including PointBlankNews, Codewit and countless others. While many have begun to take down the story, others remain, and some still credit Abril Uno for the story.

On reading the story, many Twitter users congratulated Kamuntu for the fake revelation, not realising that the site is satirical.

While the revelation that Museveni’s daughter is fake, the anti-gay bill which the satirical story says she opposes is sadly real.

Nigeria and Uganda need to get their priorities in order.

Nigeria in particular should be as strong as South Africa as a middle power/regional power but they keep ignoring their true problems (corruption, religious terrorism/sectarian violence, poverty) and harassing scapegoats on whom they peg their social and political ills.

Although it is true the the government should represent the will of the people, they also were elected to guide the country in the right direction and that sometimes means going against the tide and doing what is best for the country.

I just hope this scapegoating the gays nonsense doesn't spread to the West Indies, that would be a very  popular sentiment.
