How did you get your job?
Applying online? through a friend?
AND
did you need college expeirence/diploma to get your job?

I have heard of someone thats the youngest district sales manager of the west coast. He gets like 50% off for life, and from what i hear makes good money. idk if its sheer luck you get this job, or hard work... so i am curious

I've been on this site since i was around 11 or 12, but finally got this account last week

@a bachelors for a retail job..what kinda BS is that

ima get my bachelors in finance and marketing (double major) what jobs would be available to me. (real jobs) no retail store bs already did that at finishline.

I'm a former Nike Manager, so here's my take at it.

How did you get your job?
As far as I still know, the only way to apply for any Nike job is on their corporate website - www.nikebiz.com. Andthat's exactly how I did it.

Through a friend?
Depending on the store, employee referrals can expedite your hiring process. In retail, either the Store Manager or Operations Manager can work with HumanResources to full current applications. If yours is in that pool of applications and if you've been referred, you'll get priority depending on whatthe Management Team thinks.

Did you need college expeirence/diploma to get your job?
I had a BS degree in Telecommunications Managemen before I worked for Nike. Was it needed in order for me to get the job? Not necessarily, but it'salways an added bonus when applying. As far as retail goes, you don't need a college degree if you're applying for a regular position such as sales orstock. If your applying for a management position, they'll most likely want to see you with more management retail experience that having a degree.

At the high level management position it's not a bad thing to have in retail, especially for a company like Nike. It gives you anadvantage if you want to move up with Nike... say... Corporate Headquarters? EKIN position?

JMTK!
BAY AREA INITIATIVE

Count me in for 3 years as a sales associate. I work in footwear so its pretty chill, but S&R is the best. i wouldnt mind lining myself up with an EKINjob, but it has nothing to do with my major.

Jaymatik thanks for answering some questions, that was what i was looking for.

where did Ekin go?

do corporate Nike heads get paid well? Just curious

<----- what degree should ipursue that would look like a gem to them?

would you suggest i get a job at champs or footlocker while i am in college, the pursue nike once i got some sort of degree. I am thinking about Businessadministration or business management.

I work at a Nike Outlet, but I'm only in it seasonally. I've been there for a month and a half now, and it's really chill. I work in apparel soyeah. Applying online is how I got my job. Oh, and for my fellow employees, what's the deal with Nike employees not supposed to be on NT?

^theres an electronic communications section somewhere in the employee handbook. I forget exactly waht it says tho but it indirectly mentions something aboutposting things online. I think it has more to do with posting pictures and sharing prototypes pics/shoe models/etc

Main reason is not to share insider info. Nike checks Niketalk on a regular basis. So, if you are currently a Nike employee you shouldn't be advertisingwhat store you work at and leaking info that's not yet publicly available. But... you can always be discreet about it.

where did Ekin go?

Getting an EKIN position isn't easy. Seeing an open position is almost a rarity. Aside from being educated, you MUST have strong product knowledge insideand out.

Werd about the ekin.. my boy from nike town nyc got an ekin position about 3 months ago but he had to be transfered to texas.. you need knowledge about allfootwears and not just the make or year it came out but the tech of the shoe the average life span of the shoe, what the shoe is used for and etc etc etc

The EKIN most people know is the original (?) knowledge dropper on NT. He revealed many, MANY shoes and release dates.

From Fast Company:
Storytelling isn't just for new hires. Each "Ekin" ("Nike" spelled backwards) -- Ekins are tech reps known for their Swoosh ankle tattoos -- undergoes a nine-day Rookie Camp at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. A full day is spent in Eugene, where Ekins run at the Hayward field track (where Bowerman coached) and visit the site of Prefontaine's fatal car crash. "We're connecting what we're doing today back to Nike's heritage," says Dennis Reeder, 45, Ekins training manager.

If you really want to work for nike and theres a store in your area, you should apply for a sales associate position. Whatever you saw that askedfor a bachelors degree, was managment. But footwear retail in general tends to pay pretty low.

In order to be a successful EKIN you need to know more than just footwear. An EKIN should know apparel an footwear and their material properties, nikeequipment and the history of nike as well as those who revolve around it. An EKIN knows Nike front to back and inside and out. Hence, the reasoning of givingEKIN a meaning of being NIKE backwards.
