Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite 2017

Local running shop claims to be getting Alphaflys on June 3rd. Here's hoping.

I love my Next% so much though, I'm considering just getting another pair of those instead...

Been following ben johnson for a while. He's one of the few who's resourceful IMO.
Agreed. His reviews on shoes and products are legit. Along with all the data he provides from his runs, amazing how fast he is for only running for 2-3 years.

his latest half he switched back to the next %. Seth DeMoor said they didn't have the same out of box bounce after like 70ish miles and that's a guy with prime form.
I saw that SJD mentioned the bounce deteriorated more quickly in the Alphafly; however Ben Johnson indicates they felt like new at 120 miles.

SJD ended up picking the next % if he had to rebuy another pair for nyc marathon. He said he would have better turnover in the next % with his small frame. Felt like he didn't need the extra material/weight from the alphafly.

Durability seems to be improving in every gen from my own experience so excited to try them out either way. My next % a chunk of the outsole (back heel) ended up coming off during my speed workout last week at around 260 miles. I'm still debating on sending them back and whether Nike would consider that wear & tear or manufacturer error. My argument is I could of got injured from that so tough call if i'm wasting my money sending them back.

i had a pair of FK racers that the sole detached itself
Partially after 6 months of running, they refunded me no questions asked.

I’d send them back. You’re only paying for shipping. I don’t think the foam is supposed to fall off so you should end up getting a voucher.

I hope stock levels are high for this AlphaFly release, but a word to the wise:

Opt for the $5 two-day shipping on NDC if possible. I've been ordering a handful of releases recently and standard shipping is taking a LONG time for some folks.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try it. I elected for standard shipping for the Peg 37 and I’m still waiting for them to arrive three weeks later.

AIR ZOOM TYPE

Unexpected geometries and hand-made detailing are hallmarks of the new Nike Air Zoom Type. The shoe's form finds its shape from an initial prototype for the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly Next%, but rather than set for record-breaking, the Air Zoom Type is engineered to solve for stress on the body and feet during a full day out.

The shoe has two Zoom Air pods in the forefoot and a supportive TPU plate running through the midsole. Both technical elements are housed within a plush foam and help create a new underfoot experience and sensation. The silhouette, stance, material choices and detailing celebrate Nike's irreverent approach to performance design, with an eye to progressive solutions for all athletes.

"We took the original prototype, scanned it and then reverse-engineered it for daily wear," says Lee Gibson, Nike Design Lead. "For example, the TPU plate provides some of the modulation of the Alphafly carbon plate, but doesn't give as aggressive of a rocking sensation."

Aesthetically, the main objective of the Air Zoom Type was to hold as close as possible to the original hand-built prototype created in Beaverton, Oregon. This approach evolves the concept-driven Nike N. 354 label. While most of the output under the experimental banner reworks prototypes from the Department of Nike Archives, the Air Zoom Type derives from working real-time with the investigation of a new performance product. The parallel path creates visual continuity between the shoe and the closely connected Nike Zoom Alphafly Next%.

"Rather than just repackage an aesthetic, I felt it was authentic to create a true connection to the innovation story," says Gibson. "We achieve that by drafting off the initial concept and idea, ultimately delivering a really raw, visceral version of the performance runner."

The shoe's details also relay the creative process in the finished product. The hand of the designer is apparent — seen in elements like the N.354 logo treatment and overt stitching. And, with a subtle DNA touch, the breathable tongue is nod to another pioneering Nike running shoe, the Lunar Racer.

The Nike Air Zoom Type releases June 5 on SNKRS, SNEAKERS and at select retailers.

I would honestly be more into these if the upper wasn't so boring tbh.
