NT General: Why do white people give the most awkward daps?

That's the way we do it.

These are awkward because they're sitting next to each other and instead of across from each other

Nobody shakes with their left hands so Stuart Scott is doing the fist bump but LeBron and Mike Miller are using their right hands so open hand

daps where I'm from is very simple.....
make a fist...I swing down and give you a pound...then you reciprocate....DONE!

The HS I went to does it the Mexican way....it's like a sidways high five slap followed by a fist punch (orale)....

However, my whole take on this new fist touch only trend that's been going around for a bit is that it's very positive for the prevention of spreading virus' and your own personal disgusting hygiene (or lack thereof)...
I don't know where your hand has been and have no intention of shaking sweaty/dirty/nasty palms with you...

I see way too many men go into a restroom, don't wash their hands before their urinate (which is foul for your personal hygiene, especially at a casino when you've been touching filthy chips all day/night) and they DEFINITELY don't wash their hands after they urinate....

Then I have to walk back into a restaurant and touch the same door handle you did?...

that's why I always try and sneak out right behind some guy after he opens the door and use my foot to keep it open...

just my nickel of nonsense.

its just in their blood. had an awkward dap yesterday, dude switched it up on me and went for something else instead of what we usually do :smh:

I usually only do the hand daps, so it could get awkward when the other person goes in for the shoulder bump also.

People in California have the worst daps.

They go for the dap and throw in the fist bump afterwards. What's up with that.

I'm a fan of this method. The fist pound at the end feels like closure.

me too.

FWIW, i dont think its just a Mexican thing. If you walk into ANY brazillian jiu jitsu gym across the world, its very likely that you will see people greeting each other with the hand slap to fist bump. Most sparring matches (and resets during sparring) also start this way. Its kinduva mutual heads up to indicate that you are ready to roll.

cuz we don't do it enough. seriously, that's all there is to it, we don't get enough practice. like, the white guys who do it regularly aren't awkward with it.

I hate them black dudes who be giving them firm business handshakes. Like Ninja plzzzz.

. This is one reason why I like to still give daps. I am not going to change myself just because "professionalism" demands it.

I also don't like the people that look at me like I'm some uneducated hoodlum when I don't give them the "proper" handshake. Get off your high horse and realize I am just as mature as you.

Cuz they're not accustomed with it. They didn't grow up doing it so they can't really get a feel for what kind of dap to give or to expect. For them handshakes are predictable and simple.

or at least that's my theory. There's no way I can believe a white person can grow up giving daps and each and every time it's awkward  :smh:

I'm white and I've seen things :smh:

Now when I'm not sure I just go with a regular handshake.

the white folks i went to school wit know what to do. others, not so much but i aint goin round lookin to dap folks up tho and i aint got many close white friends
