@ the upcoming "Fright Night" remake (even though I might end up checking it out anyway) Better off re-releasing Part 2 on dvd and callingit a day.

Don't touch Phantasm!!! (unless Reggie Bannister & the O.G. TallMan are involved)

So, I'm watching Scream again, and, man, it is a damn good film; it completely revitalized the slasher genre.

It's a shame Scream 2 and Scream 3 were so abysmal.

If you didn't know, a Scream 4 will be released in 2010. I'm skeptical.

Anyway, are there any newer (good) films like Scream - realistic slasher films, where the killer doesn't reincarnate into himself, etc.?

Amen. I would take a cheesy 80s horror flick over the more recent gore/torture-porn aimed genre flicks. But of course I'm going to feel thatway considering I was a kid when those 80s movies were scaring the crap out of me, so they hold a special place in my heart.

80s must haves that I can think of off the top of my head(at least imo)

The obvious Friday the 13th / Nightmare on Elm Street / Halloween series.
Hellraiser series
Phantasm series
Evil Dead series
Romero's Dead series (Survival of the Dead is coming also)
Sleepaway Camp
Re-Animator
Return of the Living Dead
Critters series (horrible corny but cult classic)
Silent Night Deadly Night
Creepshow
Night of the Creeps

The Scream series is one of my favorites. The 1st was the best, great twist, great ending, overall such a good movie.

The 2nd one was my least favorite of the trilogy, but still decent. The ending was ok.

As for the 3rd, It was a good way to tie everything together. The 3rd would be my 2nd favorite in the trilogy.

Looking forward to the 4th as well. From what I've heard Neve Campbell is in negotiations. The Arquette's will be in it & have a child in it. Thefilm will be featured 10 years from the last from what I've heard.
