NTers who lease their whips? Vol: new whip every 3 years

Actually not having a car payment and investing can go along way to obtaining wealth:

From dave ramsey:

Here’s a new plan. What if you bought a cheap $2,000 car just to get around for 10 months? Then you take that $475—the average car payment—save it every month, and pay for a new car (with cash!), instead of giving it to the bank.

After 10 months of doing that, you’ll have $4,750 to use for that new ride. Add that to the $1,500–2,000 you can get for your old beater, and you have well over $6,000. That’s a major upgrade in car in just 10 months—without owing the bank a dime!

But the fun doesn’t end there. If you keep consistently putting the same amount of money away, 10 months later you would have another $4,750 to put toward a car. You could probably sell that $6,000 vehicle for about the same price you paid 10 months before—meaning you now have $11,000 to pay for a car, just 20 months after this whole process started.

The bottom line with this exercise is simply this—what could you do with that $475 if you weren’t paying for the car every month? Anything you wanted!

Think about it this way: If you were to invest that $475 (remember, this is the average car payment in the U.S.) into a good mutual fund with a 12% rate of return, you would have over $100,000 in 10 years! At 20 years, you would have made $470,000. And at 30 years? That mutual fund would be worth $1.6 million!

The numbers will make your head spin, but it really just comes down to simple math. The less money you are spending on your car every month, the more money you have to put into other more important things: your kids’ college fund, your retirement, and paying off any other debt you might have.

If you’ll just follow this simple plan, your life could be dramatically different 10 years from now. You can live without a car payment!
what's crazy is I said exactly this 5 pages ago.

I think we need to ask this question...

Seriously...

..

What's wrong with trying to stunt?

If your bills are paid... And you're not starving for anything...

What's wrong with stuntin'?

If you can find that happy median, then absolutely nothing :smokin Some people just want you to believe they're saving all their money for retirement or something. Ain't nothing wrong with living life comfortably, enjoying the "better" things I while you're young.

Just leased a new C250 this past weekend. $1,000 drive-off (basically tax and license) and I'm paying $320/month for 26 months. MSRP is $37K.

Lease is the way to go for european cars. Domestic and Japanese should be purchased.

My man welcome to the Benz family man! I have a C300 through my work and I love it! Just wish there was a little more room in the rear cargo area but I don't sit back there so I guess i dont give a ****

hoosierdaddy317 hoosierdaddy317 Thanks fam. Left BMW and couldn't be happier with my Benz. Love the C300 engine, wish they were standard. On the other hand, I'll be saving $30-40/month on gas.

Damb! Didn't know C classes ran that much, but then again I never checked on them.

I got a c-class loaner when I took my car in for service of the pano roof and man that car felt kind of cramped and not what I would expect for a car with an MSRP that high.

Yeah I think they start at $35,500. I remember they used to start at $32,000 before the body change.

I don't feel cramped in it at all and I'm 6'1". Its smaller in the front than my 3 series, but I think the back is bigger. I'm just glad my engine doesn't stop/start like the new 3 series. I hate that feature with a passion.

Looking to lease a luxury coupe. What are the good options out there for the big and tall?

I hate that start/stop feature too but you have the option to turn it off.

I heard it is automatically off on the 2014, not sure. If you're dropping $35k on a luxury it's shouldn't feel like the transmission is dropping when you let go of the brake. Lol

I've been leasing cars since I got my license at 17.

Currently have a 2013 Ford Edge SEL 39 month lease, paying $325/month.

I like the idea of getting a new car every few years. The only thing you need to worry about really is miles. I'm not a high school kid caring about souping up my car or putting tints or spoilers on my car. Leasing is the way to go in my eyes
