NT's All Time NBA ReDraft Thread: GR8 Write Up Page 187, Bracket Final Vote

DAT WRITE UP
DAT ANALYSIS
DAT THOUGHT PROCESS

All the reps for you :hat

I really appreciated all of the time @THE GR8EST put into that write up and analysis. Only gripe I had about what held me back was him not mentioning The Rifleman in my lack of shooting, while it's certainly my weak spot, Chuck was a sniper throughout his career.

I fully expect to get crushed for my Bargs pick from everyone :lol

Good job The Gr8est :hat

No worries, votes are votes. We're thankful for everyone that's taking the time to examine all this stuff.

I've really tried... THIS **** IS HARD :lol

It's easier for me to pull C CP1708 and list what I like/dislike about each squad than to pull a top 5

Plus I'm biased... I feel like if I had been able to grab Another shooter I would've been undisputed #1.

I saw Nick Anderson & Dennis Scott sitting there but I couldn't get over Nick's finals performance and Dennis's crack induced rant to 12yr olds to select either.

My top three (no order):

CP1708
The starting give should all be able to play off each other very well. Very strong backcourt and Bird is Bird. Aldridge/Mourning/Daugherty/Manning bring size and skill up front.

The 1-2 punch of Duncan and Pierce is as good as any other team's. They'll just wear you down for 48 minutes. Can Westbrook be a third banana? Decent bench rounds things up.

This team has an identity: Tough as nails and versatile, but spacing could be tight. A locker room with Payton, Malone, Mason and Artest could be a handful to deal with.

top 10 teams (no specific order):

awwesome

Seeing TP9, Hakeem, Peja and Blake in their primes on the same team could make some really fun and competitive basketball. Parker in the pick and roll with guys like Peja and Hornacek on the wings :x . I honestly feel like that would be an unstoppable combination. Thompson would provide additional scoring and can light it up at any given time. I love the athleticism and versatility off the bench with guys like JSmoove on the frontline. I know awwesome got some flack for picking Hakeem #1, but I like how he built the squad around him and it still seems to be one of the best teams in the draft.

I love the starting 5. So much athleticism on the perimeter, you have an enforcer in Lambieer and an underrated elite level center in Walton. Talk about a 1-2 punch in VC and Bron :x You personally took 2 of my picks (Person & Lambieer :lol ), but I like how they fit on your squad. Also, nice adding some really solid role players like Cassell, Prince and Vinnie along with D West. I honestly feel like Cassell would probably see more time with that starting five than Wall just because of his poise especially at the end of games. Could also see a lot of Tayshaun in late games as well. I believe VC and Bron may be one of the toughest 1-2 punches in the draft.

The fact that you have KG / Dikembe / Drummond in your frontcourt says all you need to know. KG / Dikembe just may be the most dominant PF/C duo in the draft defensively. KG provides the versatility to step outside and shoot the midrange jumper and quick enough to defend smaller players on the pick n roll. It allows Dikembe to basically set up shot down low and swat anything that comes within a few inches of the rim. Price is one of the best shooters of all time. Terry, Ariza, Cliff were all great role players in their primes and Nique would thrive as a #1B option with KG. Also, cannot forget Robertson and his defensive ability on the perimeter. This would definitely be one of the best defensive teams in the draft.

Love the IQ and the poise of the top 8 or so players on this team. These guys are unselfish and know their roles. Toughness was going to be a concern, but adding guys like SJax, Lowry and Kurt Thomas kills that argument :lol . I feel like Marc would love to play on a team like this because he would really never have to shoot that much.

Nash / Kemp pick and roll :x The starting unit may lack some shooting, but Wade is known as one of the best cutters of all time. I feel like he and Nash would find a way to make it work in the backcourt. Theo manning the middle as well. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Caron Butler in the starting 5 over Bernard King (making him more of a 6th man) just for fit purposes. Wade/Butler was a good duo in Miami and I know they could make it work with Nash at the point.

I'll add more to the teams I haven't put anything by. This is pretty hard to do :lol Everyone did a good job man

These are the votes I have (I won't list who made the actual votes)

Those that haven't voted yet, please do so. Either post them in here, or PM me if you prefer.

3. Pro
PG: Magic/Conley/Evans
SG: Monroe/Stack/Middleton
SF: Robinson/Deng
PF: Petit/Mirotic
C: Gilmore/Jefferson

What I like most: The Magic/Monroe backcourt. In a format like this, unselfishness is a major advantage because all these guys have egos and can score. Nobody better at spreading the wealth and getting others involved than Magic. Pearl was also a showman and an incredible scorer in his own right, however, as shown from his Knicks years, Pearl is more than willing to buy into trhe team concept and sacrifice individual numbers when necessary. But shown from his bullet years, Pearl can also take ball handling duties from Magic when necessary, be a similar kind of showman, and out up big time scoring numbers. I don’t love a super old school white guy like Bob Petit in this format, but he stood at 6’9 and put up some of the best numbers of all time. He was a great rebounder and a versatile enough scorer to probably produce in any era. Artis Gilmore stood at 7’2 and was a beast, his game should translate across any era. Bench isn’t great, but prime Stackhouse is a great asset and a low post player like Jefferson would greatly benefit from playing with Magic sort of like Kareem.

What ultimately held you back: Big dog is probably the weak link of this lineup but he is serviceable and a good fit because of his scoring. Ultimately is a little on the weaker side defensively and while they should be fun to watch offensively and put up a lot of points, there isn’t really a proven great closer.
