I live just outside of Columbus.
I took my concealed carry course at the New Albany Shooting Range.
All CCW courses have to be 12 hours total, and cover the permit training requirements...the class i took was (3) 4hr sessions in the evenings...but i also know that they offer weekend courses.

I enjoyed the course, staff, and facility so much  that I became a member at their range.
Below is a link to the description of there CCW course.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I checked into that Columbus one and it those seem really nice.  Problem is that it is 1.5 hours from me.  Thats a far travel.  I found this one here which is close to me:

This one is a lot cheaper, but you must have your own ammo and handgun.  What do you think?

im sure it will be fine.  from you are writing about, it sounds like you are wanting a CCW...as long as the course meets the requirements, i say go for it.  if you really want to take the course with your own gun, i would hold off on signing up for the course.  I just wouldnt rush to buy a handgun just to take the course.  I would invest some time and money at a range where you can shoot a variety of guns in different calibers to find out what you like shooting...

One thing I will not do is lie to get props/e-props. Never killed anybody, but have been trained by some of the best if not best triggermen in the world. I'm on the "brains" side of the equation, not the muscle side...though we have to go out sometimes to the warzone to do our thing. When I'm out there I feel safe knowing I have them around me though...true professionals. You'd be surprised to know how many different entities there are supporting the war effort that are not the US military.
I hear mercenaries/private firms are RUNNING @%*% over there...its crazy to think about...

well scary kinda.

I wouldn't say its scary. Most of the private firms are doing supply jobs and that small percentage of people who go their with guns are professionals. And those guys are doing personal protection and training the local law enforcement and a lot of those guys are former Marine Recon, Army Ranger, SF, CAG, etc true professionals who still serve our country just in a different capacity.

but my question to the aficionados what gun is good to have for home protection. don't want to kill the intruder but i really want to hurt his tail.
Just use birdshot low power shells instead of 00 Buck. Or you can use rock salt shotgun shells instead. The shotgun is still considered the best home defense firearm, so at least you are on the right path.

cool really appreciate the info. will go out and get couple boxes of those. thanks Elder

Yeah the people I'm talking about are the direct action sort...ie triggermen. But from here on out we have to deploy with  our rifles so we can take care of ourselves when out and about. It's real out there.

So you're a DoD civilian employee or do you work with a company that has a DoD contract if you don't mind me asking?

I have a few questions, please pardon my ignorance. But why is it so hard to get an MP5? Is it because its an automatic weapon and requires additional paperwork? And also how do you get approved to purchase a suppressor? Im looking into getting a weapon once I turn 21 but I want to be clear on what I can and cannot get. Thank you for any input

Anyone that has some parts for an AR15 PM me! I have a JD lower and some other misc parts, I need a good upper, rails etc! I live in So Cal we can meet locally!

Question for you guys, in the market for a concealed pistol and ive pretty much narrowed it down to two choices. Its either going to be the Glock 27 or Smith and Wesson M&P 40c. I've read quite a few reviews online and they're pretty similar in features and design. Just wanted to see if any of you have had experiences with either gun. Thanks in advance.

The Gun Control Act of 1968 is the cause of that. It banned the importation of all fully automatic foreign made weapons as they didn't have a "sporting purpose". The HK94 is as close as most civilians can get to a real MP5 without paying through the roof. And to get a suppressor you must first purchase the suppressor and send it to a FFL with a class 3 licenses. You will either need a sheriff sign off or form a trust and fill out a form 4 and send it to the ATF along with a check for $200. Once the ATF approves your form you can go pick up your suppressor.

I've shot a Glock 19 and a M&P9 full-size and compact I vastly preferred the M&P. My hand felt fatigued shooting the glock and the trigger felt like that of a staple gun. But honestly you can't go wrong with either one. Just shoot before you decided on buying either.

Indeed.  Im at the point where I just want to go and get comfortable at the range.  Trying out different guns and what not.

One of the best places to buy a suppressor is from Major Malfunction... http://www.major-malfunction.com/  They usually have the absolute lowest prices AND they will even give you the correct format for a trust if you can't get a LEO signoff. For example the Silencero Osprey (one of the best if not THE best silencers for .45...along with the AAC TiRant) is almost $150 less than retail...that $150 will almost offset the ATF tax stamp of $200. Major Malfunction is a major player in the Suppressor community.

More pics

I have 18 PMAGs in total. I loaded them after I took this picture.

My order of 540 rounds of 5.56 and 550 of 9mm came in two days before i took this. I'm at about 1200 rounds of .223/5.56 and 650 rounds of 9mm.

don't know if i should post this in here, it's about guns so i guess it's ok
Saturday i shot my very first gun on my own, me and some cousins went at a shooting range, the experience was awesome!
i got to shoot a 38 special, a glock, and some other gun i've never heard of
the entire time i was nervous as hell, i always kept anticipating the recoil so my shots would be off, and the loud "pop" always kept getting me more nervous.
it was a fun experience. i want a gun now

just be easy you don't have to grip it super hard.  i'm guessing you shot low the whole time?  that's from anticipating the recoil before it happens.  you'll relax after you shoot more.

Thanx for the info

@ those prices for Suppressors, more than I expected. I think I might still look into it at some point.

I thought this should go here. Basically good ol' Charlie Rangel went against the House and passed the Hughes Amendment which banned the civilian purchase of machine guns made after 1986.

Here's a better description
For those not entirely sure of what's going on: Record Vote 73 was taken by electronic device; the result was: ayes 124, noes 298, not voting 12.[5] The Hughes Amendment regarding the banning of machine guns was defeated in Record Vote 73. The bill, H.R. 4332, as a whole passed in Record Vote No: 75. Nevertheless, the Senate, in S.B. 49, adopted H.R. 4332 as an amendment to the final bill, which included the defeated Hughes Amendment.

This is video of that occuring.

I'll take a select fire M4 thankyouverymuch

My girl has been wanting a .22 to shoot so I picked this up

My fellow gun enthusiasts, IF you only had one choice of the two rifles below, which one would you choose? On top the Bushmaster ACR (formerly MagPul Masada), or the FN SCAR S (for comparisons sake the SCAR 16S which is the 5.56 version). And why?

As is on the market now SCAR16 no questions; 1x7 barrel, lighter, and has seen combat in Afghanistan. If I ACR had a 1x7 barrel, was a pound lighter I would gladly take the ACR. It is more modular,

ambidextrous, and ergonomic. It also doesn't have a reciprocating charging handle like the SCAR does which to me is huge, no way would I want to get my fingers wacked by that. Also I like the

handguards that come on the basic configuration as they are a little longer which fits my shooting style more.
