As is on the market now SCAR16 no questions; 1x7 barrel, lighter, and has seen combat in Afghanistan. If I ACR had a 1x7 barrel, was a pound lighter I would gladly take the ACR. It is more modular,

ambidextrous, and ergonomic. It also doesn't have a reciprocating charging handle like the SCAR does which to me is huge, no way would I want to get my fingers wacked by that. Also I like the

handguards that come on the basic configuration as they are a little longer which fits my shooting style more.
I had a chance to shoot the SCAR-L (mil version of the 16S) but believe it or not I declined to do so. You may think I was stupid to do so, but actually I was very smart. I did not want to fall in love with it and feel like I had to go buy one. My buddy is an ex-green beret that owns a range near Fayetteville NC and he has one. He said you will only have a problem with the recip charging handle ONE TIME, cause you'll never forget how your thumb/finger will feel once it gets in the way of it.

I don't know ARGuy, which one would I choose. I see too many good things about both of them. The twist factor comes into play for sure, for even now all I shoot is that expensive +#% Mk.262 77 grain 5.56 ammo and it needs at least one twist in 8 inches to stabilize it. Hmm.

Sounds like not that bad of a deal. Some people look down on the Romanian licensed version of the AK's but for the most part they work and work well. May have a trigger slap problem though. Only thing I say as a caveat is to get some experience before shooting it, or at the very least go to an outdoor range with someone who is knowledgeable. Bushies are cool if not a bit overpriced. Maybe 206 or one of the other Eastern Bloc gun enthusiasts in here can steer you a little better.

You are a very lucky man to be deciding between a SCAR andACR. But like I said earlier the SCAR is a proven system and the ACR is stillin its infancy. Once the ACR goes on a diet with a light weight

barrel (also get rid of that God awful M4 profile
sick.gif
)and gets a 1x7 barrel then the ACR will be something to truly take a look at.So right now get the SCAR and in a few years when

Bushmaster/Remington gets their collective act together ACR. Oh and I bet itonly takes one time to get bit by that charging handle

For sure I will. I work with a guy that used to be a cop and I wanted a 9mm at first and he told me a story about having to empty a clip to knock his target down and his partner used two to the chest of the target with a 45 to knock his down. After that I decided I'd rather get a 45 first then down the road a 9mm after a rifle or two ;-)

Wow, a 1911 as your first pistol, bravo bro.

I been wantin to invest in one but I'm not quite there yet.  I'm lookin more into a nice 9mm or 40 for carryin. My XD is a lil too heavy and I need somethin that allows me to maneuver a lil better.
What would u suggest Elder or Storm? I'm headin to a gunshow in my area in the next couple of months w/ my boy. Both lookin at $450max spending. He's lookin at the Ruger sr9c which looks like a fine piece of machinery.

Also, to those that own the S&W Sigma SW 40, how do yall like it? How is it as far as concealment?

Pistols in general are terrible man stoppers and shot placement is key, obviously 2 shots to the CNS (brain, spine, heart) will put down someone compared to 10 rounds of 9mm to everywhere but. A good

JHP like the  Winchester Ranger-T 127gr +P+ is as good as any .45. If we were talking FMJ only I would prefer a .45 but with all the availability of good JHP it is truly all about personal preference.

Also Rifle > Handgun

Been a while here...

Might pick up either a SCAR 16S or 17S, not too sure yet until I can test out the models.

Will be a delight for sure

You want a nice concealable weapon...try the Kel-Tec line of pistols. I myself have never even shot one, but it's all I hear from respected sources as far as a reliable and very concealable handgun.

Also Rifle > Handgun
There are many variables when it comes to incapacitating a human with almost any firearm weapon. Even with rifles (other than the obvious headshot, which is harder to execute than most realize), there is no guarantee you'll "stop" someone. An assailant pumped up on PCP, Khat, or adrenaline can keep on coming at you even with a rifle caliber.

With all that being said as far as handguns I prefer the big, fat, and relatively slow .45 230grain +P hollow point. Maybe it's just me, but I rather put bigger holes into "target". But then again I wouldn't want to be shot by any caliber and even a .22 will cause you to expire

I need help please..... Can someone tell me what I need to do to own a handgun in arizona? Im 19 and I heard that I can purchase one from a private seller, just not a dealer. So could I have my dad buy it from a dealer and then just give it to me? Thanks in advance!!

They are both awesome...though I want to get into the 7.62 side of things eventually so the 17S is very attractive. BTW just in case you didn't know, the Civvy version of the H&K 416/417 called the MR 556/MR762 is already out. Well at least the 5.56 version is, the 7.62 will follow soon.

Not as futuristic looking as the SCARs, but supposedly all-around better...considered the true evolution of the AR-15/10

Whats a good gun to start off with?

Plan on getting my conceal/carry license son (Im sure i will have bought a gun before i actually get the license)

Not a bad line and not a bad price of $300. I'm gon look into that PF-9 and might possibly pick it up if I can attend this gun show in April. Of course I'm still gon be lookin at different brands and models. I feel like the handle may be uncomfortable to be since the firearm is a little on the small side. Thanks bro

the HK is a beautiful gun indeed I wouldnt mind trading two ARs for one but the SCAR just looks too damn cool!  shooting a robots foot!

In seriousness I think the FN is pretty serious piece of tool and some of our troops are issued with them overseas so it's nice to know FN is doing things right.

XDM's run around $600-$700 NIB depending on caliber. Cheapest I've seen for the .45 XMD is $650. I'd check Gunbroker.com, I'm sure the other guys can chime in with other sites as well, but I can personally vouch for gunbroker...perfect place to find New In Box firearms if the shops in your area don't have what you are looking for.

I've never seen the brushed stainless steel with flat dark earth before. Think it looks awesome!!!

I agree, the coolness factor of the SCAR is way up there...that and the Remington/Bushmaster ACR (even though I think the original name MagPul Masada was even better). They gave the SCAR to some of our Rangers in A-Stan, and a few other of the high speed units. The HK416 (military version of the H&K MR-556) was designed in part by  1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta and they use them. I suspect familiarity/muscle memory being a major factor since it is basically the same shape and outline of the M-4/M-16.
