NYC Sportbike "gang" vs. Alexian Lien Thread vol. Let's Try this Again.

Man see how do you not get that stopping at any point in this was putting his life in danger?

By BIKERS accounts, his car was getting kicked/punched and tires slashed BEFORE he took off and ran over the guy.

His fears were proven correct when he was beat in the middle of the street and they attempted to assault his WIFE too.

I seriously don't understand how people cant put themselves in his shoes as hes surrounded by 50-100 bikes who just STOPPED TRAFFIC on the WSH.

There was no way out for him and flight was his only option. Jesus.
I'm not justifying their actions.. because they certainly should be held liable for their actions... but they started all of that AFTER he hit someone and continued.. they weren't just vandalizing every car on the highway, clearly the driver had a blatant disregard for those biker's life. Honestly thats inexcusable.
That's not true though. Check again.

On BIKERS accounts, the man in the video brake checked him - they stopped him and surrounded him in the middle of the West Side Highway and multiple people started to punch and kick his car.  At which point he took off and ran someone down in the process.  His tire was also slashed at that point.

The next time he stopped they tried opening his door and pulling him out but he took off again... The next time he stopped after that he was stuck with nowhere to go and they beat him in the middle of a street. Smashed his wifes window with a helmet and tried pulling her out, and also opened the back seat where his 2 year old child was.

Your theory is... the guy randomly brake checked the guy in the range rover and they started kicking and punching his car for no reason... They didn't do it to any other car but his? Yea right... And your saying this is by their own account? Thats just false man...

smh.

Its not a theory.  The bikers said that he had "cut someone off" prior to the bike check and he wasn't letting them pass.

One of the dudes int he group posted on his own instagram that everything was good until they started hitting his car (paraphrasing) and someone got ran over.

Based on the actual statement that the news released.... not Instagram :lol the biker was hit after they brake checked him. In fact the guy said that he wasn't intentionally trying to brake check him... (I'll concede from the video tho, that he was brake checking him..) Still, if I slow down in front of someone because I want to be a jerk and make them slow down, they can't just hit me with their car... What kinda world would that be.

You're now arguing that he shouldn't have hit the dude that brake checked him? wth? He was being harassed before that.

if you slow down in the middle of the highway where the speed limit in 65, the reason you slowed down has nothing to do with the flow of traffic, and there's a video of the illegal merge .. and you get hit, who do you think insurance and police siding with?

Insurance company would be on the driver's side.... but he did a hit and run when he kept driving... most people don't keep driving after an accident... at that point the law isn't on his side... Would you hit someone and keep driving? Be serious

Like I said that has nothing to do with the official statement that was released. I'm clueless as to why you are acting as if Instagram is Reuters or some other reliable news source :lol According to Instagram tons of people already have the all red yeezy's

Nah bro, that's NOT an "NY thing"

I typed up a long *** response but realized how stupid it is to even bring. Up valid points against such a stupid comment...

this describes my last few years on NT

yeah, I think they ONLY slowed dude down so they could have the WHOLE west side highway empty to race and do tricks.

I think the anger that the biker sympathizers have is that if Lien had some street smarts he'd be A OK right now.
Thing is... being street illiterate isn't a crime, and seems to work well for people considering his career.

That last sentence hurts a lot of egos, which is why some posters feel the need to defend the bikers.

THIS. Exactly how I feel it happened. Were the bikers wrong for following and beating him? OF COURSE!! But Lien crossed that line when he hit someone and continued... Not really on either side

Once again read the law!! If you think your life is in danger you do NOT have to stop at a accident and can drive to a saftey spot and call police or to a  police station

I HOPE THE MODS LOCK THIS THREAD AGAIN!

ok If you think your in harms way after you get in a accident the LAW SAYS you CAN drive to a saftey spot and call police or drive to a police station

Mods please lock this thread because of users like Dwalk

M

My goodness dude had dozens of bikers surrounding him acting crazy while he was with his wife and kids

Once again read the law!! If you think you rlife is in danger you do NOT have to stop at a accident and can drive to a saftey spot and call police or to a  police station

It isn't that you just "feel your life is in danger" (In that case anyone could be justified anytime by just saying they felt in danger)... There is something called a reasonable person standard... Would a "reasonable person" feel that their life was in danger because a biker slowed down in front of them? That's a question for a jury. My guess is that most people have encountered someone slowing in front of them to be a jerk and they haven't hit them and continued... Say your in the fast lane and a car is going 65 and you get all the way close and ride close to their bumper... If they don't like how close you are and decide to slow down to be a jerk, can you just hit them and keep driving?

:lol Really? Please inform me of the New York statute that does not involve a "reasonable person" standard... I happen to be in the law library right now

Dude you cant be serious right now.

After all of the *****ing that the bike group was doing that the media was representing them incorrectly and misreporting what actually happened you're gonna sit here and say that an eye witness account from someone who was there talking openly about the event shortly after needs to be tossed out because its on instagram?

Thats completely nonsense.

And now you're comparing what the dude brake checking did to someone tailgating on the highway like Lien was intentionally tailing dude?

He was being closed in before the bike initiated contact.

Those dudes were breaking LITERALLY HUNDREDS of traffic laws but you wanna pin a hit from behind on Lein?

I agree the bikers were in the wrong tho... :rolleyes I also think that Lien was... The Bikers are IN NO WAY JUSTIFIED for their atrocious actions IMO... But I also think the Lien guy was terrible to hit someone and continue in his car. I'm on neither side.. and if I had to choose one I would say the bikers were more wrong, you can't legally pursue someone and take the law into your own hands. That said.. Instagram is not evidence lol, MAYBE if it was a video :lol But realistically anyone could have posted/created an account to pretend to be involved in a situation in which they weren't, or been hacked. Just far too many variables. No way you take IG seriously as a reliable source of information

well there is a reason your on NT and the prosecuters and DA are who they are. They made the choice according to the law and came to the conclusion the driver was in the right

They felt his life was in harm when you got a dozen bikers slashing your tires, banging on your window and opening your door to drag you out

His life was in harm, he drove away.

And dont try to pull that would he feel his life is in harm if a biker slowed down in front of him.. Trying to twist it as if thats the reason why he drove away

There are also defense attorneys that are arguing the other side... Anywho, I really am more on the Lien guy's side. What the bikers did to him was awful. He is, however, an idiot. And he made poor choices which put his entire family in danger.

I mean I never used wikipedia on my papers as a reference but in cases like this you have to look at everything.

if it werent for the video and someone spilling beans on social media then EVERYTHING would be hearsay in this case until they got in front of those buildings where they beat the hell out of Lien.

You can infer from the video that SOMETHING happened to trigger him to take off... He was completely stopped and then floored it and unfortunately hit someone in the process.

But he was surrounded on a highway by motorcyclists that  were clearly not happy with him... Do you really think he sped off cause they were going to call the cops about a "low speed traffic collision" like ninjahood likes to refer to that brake check as?

Like they knocked on his window like "Hello Chap, please wait a moment here with my mates as we contact State Farm to open a claim in regards to this matter!" and he was like HELL NAH and took off??

Its unfortunate that he ran someone over... But by my count that's all it is.  By the video and by someone who was there saying that his car was assaulted BEFORE hitting the man, its nothing more than unfortunate.

Also, his tire was completely off the rim in the pictures of the beating... At no point in the video other than when he was surrounded by the bikers stopped on the WSH was there an opportunity for someone to slash his tire.  Think about that.

Sorry but if a group of 100 bikers surrounds my car with my wife and baby daughter in it, best believe I'm taking out a few of them at the very least.

Lien did the absolute right thing. Lock this thread up mods, nothing more to discuss here.

To my knowledge he did stop, that's how they were able to confront him on the highway. In my opinion if you get into a minor accident on the highway you do not stop immediately right in the middle of the highway, you pull over to the side if you can to avoid a scene.

Dudes think that 100 dudes stopping in the middle of the highway for a fender bender is normal now.

It's also an indisputable fact that the Biker initiated the contact with the SUV.

He took his left hand off, turned so he could see behind him and used his right hand to brake and rub his tire against the bumper of the RR.

You can only leave the scene of an accident if you fear for your safety: like for example of the other car's owner turns violent; but after leaving you must drive strait to the police station or safety point to report the accident and to explain why you left, and that must be done withing minutes, not hours or the next day.

i would have reversed and ran over every biker surrounding my car if i was stuck in traffic at washington heights and pray that the cops get there sooner.

it's either my family and i or those thug bikers who has a lengthy criminal history.

a successful family man spending their wedding anniversary with their 2 yr old on a lovely sunday afternoon or hundreds of criminalistic bikers breaking the law that lovely sunday afternoon.

gee....i wonder who im going to side with.
